(11/157) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 734 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 12, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on November 12, 2018, 2 people (Nazan Bozkurt and Derviş Lermi) and at 18.00 2 people (Nazan Bozkurt and Derviş Lermi) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on November 12, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(11/158) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the protestors in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on November 12, 2018, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Mahmut Konuk and Derviş Lermi). It is learned that 2 people were released the same day.

The police intervened the protestors at Bakırköy Square on November 12, 2018, who sit-in to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat) using physical violence.

Türkan Albayrak, who was dismissed from her job at Sarıyer district Health Department, on the grounds of ‘personnel security investigation’ and ‘archive search’, on August 3, 2018; made a press declaration to regain her job on November 12, 2018 and attempted for a sit-in protest in front of Health Department. The police intervened the sit-in and detained Türkan Albayrak. It is learned that Türkan Albayrak was released the same day. It is the 43rd time of detention of Türkan Albayrak.

(11/161) Detained DBP Executive in Diyarbakır…

Meryem Yıldız, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) central executive board member who was detained in Diyarbakır on November 10, 2018, is arrested by the court on the grounds of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on November 12, 2018.

(11/162) Detained Academician in Ankara…

Academician Cenk Yiğiter who was dismissed from Ankara University Law Faculty by a state of emergency decree because of signing “We will not be a party to this crime!” petition, and who was detained in Ankara on November 9, 2018 is released by the court on November 12, 2018.

(11/163) Person Detained in Edirne for ‘Insulting Atatürk’…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2018 that Emine Şahin (21), who was detained in Edirne on November 10, 2018 for allegedly chanting “Atatürk is not God, God has rules. Atatürk brought rules of the West”, during the commemoration ceremony for Atatürk, is arrested by the court on November 12, 2018.

(11/164) Greif Workers on Trial in Istanbul…

The case against 191 people including workers who organized a protest on February 10, 2014 that continued for 60 days, demanding improvement of working conditions in Greif factory and some others who supported them, on Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Penal Court of First Instance No 1, started to be held on November 12, 2018. The court did not allow anybody into the courtroom. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trail to April 15, 2019.

Previous cases against workers were dropped due to lack of grounds for legal action.

(11/165) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On November 12, 10 people including military members on active duty are detained in operations covering 5 cities through a Sakarya based investigation; 10 people including military members on active duty are detained in operations covering 10 cities through an Ağrı based investigation.

63 of 87 people who were detained through an Istanbul based investigation on Turkish Armed Forces personnel, are arrested by the court on November 12, 2018. 24 people are released provided that 2 of them will be on house confinement.

(11/166) Investigated Social Media Accounts…

The Ministry of Interior made a declaration on November 12, 2018 and announced that 227 social media accounts were investigated between November 5 and November 12, 2018; and legal proceedings have been initiated against 182 people within this week.
