(03/163) Person Died in Prison…
Hayrettin Yılmaz (65) an ill prisoner in Afyon T Type Prison No 1, lost his life on March 14, 2021. It is learned from the news coverage that Hayrettin Yılmaz was not allowed to use the right of probation although his remaining sentence was less than 1 year.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 12, 2021 that 3 prisoners (Deniz Şah, Latif Mollaahmetoğlu and İlhan Kaya) who were subjected to physical violence of the correction officers in Bolu F Type Prison, were transferred to Izmir Kırıklar F Type Prison No 2 under coercion on March 2, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 12, 2021 that Kurdish books of prisoners were seized during ward searches in Şırnak T Type Prison.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 12, 2021 that, Kurdish Xwebun newspaper was subjected to permission of General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses of the Ministry of Justice to be allowed in Bolu F Type Prison on the grounds that “it is in a foreign language”; and it was not given to prisoners for the directorate did not permit.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 13, 2021 that, 6 political prisoners who were transferred from Mardin E Type Prison to Diyarbakır T Type Prisons No 3 and 4, were put in the wards where no political prisoners were kept. It is also stated in the news reports that prisoners transferred to Diyarbakır T Type Prison No 3 were forced to stand up in military order during roll-calls.
It is learned from the news coverage of March 14, 2021 that, 56 prisoners transferred from Istanbul Metris Prison to Istanbul Silivri L Type Prison No 5 were put in a ward for 28 people; and they were having health problems since they were not given cleaning supplies, plates and spoons.

It is learned that the appeal of visit made on March 12, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysel Aktaş was not responded.
(03/166) Person Subjected to Physical Violence of Police in Diyarbakır…
On March 12, 2021 the police raided the house of Turgut İnce, Hazro district chair of Republican People’s Party in Diyarbakır. It is learned that Turgut İnce was forced to lie down on his face during the search and that he was subjected to physical violence of the police. It is reported that the police left the house saying “wrong notice” after the search.
(03/167) Detained Syrian Asylum Seeker in Mardin…
It is learned that Ali El Sülo, a Syrian asylum seeker is detained on March 12, 2021 on the grounds of ‘being linked to an illegal organisation’ and was sent to Repatriation Center in Antep for deportation. Ali El Sülo has been called to Mardin Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for missing documents, and was rejected to be a police informant that he was forced by persons who claim themselves as intelligence officers on January 28, 2021.
It is learned that Mardin Provincial Directorate of Migration Management did not give the deportation documents to the lawyers and Mardin Penal Court of Peace on duty rejected the appeal of lawyers on the grounds of missing documents. It is reported that the lawyers applied to the Constitutional Court for temporary injunction.

4 people including Hatice Göktepe, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Haliliye former district co-chair who were detained on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ in house raids in Urfa on March 11, 2021 are released by the court on March 12, 2021.
(03/169) Mayor on Trial in Edirne…
The final trial of the case against Edirne mayor Recep Gürkan, on the grounds of the statements that he allegedly made during July 15 coup attempt, is held at Edirne Penal Court of First Instance No 8 on March 12, 2021. The court sentenced Recep Gürkan to 2 months and 15 days on the charge of ‘praising offence and offender’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

The trial of the case against 24 people is held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2 on March 12, 2021. 24 people are charged for participating in the funeral of Dilan Kortak, who was killed in a police raid to a house in Sancaktepe district of Istanbul on December 3, 2015.
The indictment demands sentence for 24 people on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to May 7, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 14, 2021 that Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against HDP Ağrı MP and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Berdan Öztürk, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.

On March 10, 2021, Ozan Publishing House in Sultangazi district of Istanbul was raided by the police and 5 people were detained. Detained people (Aslıhan Buçaklar, Emrah Yayla, Ferdi İşçi, Murat Ulusoy and Yurdagül Gümüş) are released by the court on judicial control conditions on March 12, 2021.

It is learned that anonymous person or persons organized an attack to Izmir office of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) on March 13, 2021 which caused physical damage at the door of the office.

It is learned that 3 social media posts by the official account of CHP, regarding former Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak and foreign exchange reserves of Turkish Central Bank are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 8 on March 5, 2021.
It is learned that social media posts by IYI Party group deputy chair Lütfü Türkkan and CHP group deputy chair Özgür Özel, regarding foreign exchange reserves of Turkish Central Bank are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 8 on March 5, 2021.
It is learned that news reports and entries about closure of the file against a prosecutor charged to take money from a businesswoman, published on https://gazetemanifesto.com and https://eksisozluk.com websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 6 on March 11, 2021.
It is learned that news reports about a prison doctor who was suspended and replaced by another doctor who happens to be the spouse of the prosecutor investigating the case, published on https://www.gazeteduvar.com.tr, https://odatv4.com and https://susma24.com websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 6 on March 11, 2021.
It is learned that news report about a person who was charged with fraud and was caught while they were leaving the personal room of a prosecutor at Izmir Courthouse, published on https://ifade.org.tr website is banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 4 on March 12, 2021.
It is learned that news report about an academician who was charged with sexual harassment and was appointed as department chair in Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, published on https://ifade.org.tr website is banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Rize Penal Court of Peace on March 12, 2021.

On March 12, 2021, 11 people including military members on active duty are detained in operations covering 10 cities through an Ankara based investigation.
4 people who were detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally flee abroad are arrested by the court on March 14, 2021.
(03/176) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 66 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 834 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on March 12, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 14,941.
The Ministry of Health declared that 65 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 841 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on March 13, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 15,082.
The Ministry of Health declared that 68 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 852 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on March 14, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 13, 378.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 29,489 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 2,879,390 as of March 14, 2021.
