It is learned from the news coverage that Erhan Görür, a civilian person, died and 1 person (Saim Yılmaz) got wounded due to fire opened by security forces in Kaşkol neighbourhood of Başkale district of Van, on June 14, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 13, 2020 that, 4 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Iğdır on June 8, 2020.

It is learned that 1 soldier who got wounded in an attack in Idlib area of Syria on June 5, 2020; died in hospital on June 12, 2020.

It is learned that the 5.7 magnitude earthquake that shook Karlıova district of Bingöl on June 14, 2020 killed 1 person while injuring 18 people.

(06/171) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 14, 2020 that, 2 people who were detained in Diyarbakır were subjected to torture and ill-treatment at Çarşı Police Station. It is reported that 1 of detained people has 3 tooth broken and has sutures on his head; and the other person has bruises on his face and body.

(06/172) Person Subjected to Police Violence in Urfa…

It is learned from the news coverage that, Mehmet Demir, a health worker who intervened an undercover police officer (E. Ö.) having a quarrel with the nurse, who asked for an ID card for patient records at Family Health Center in Paşabağı neighbourhood of Haliliye district of Urfa on June 12, 2020; was subjected to physical violence of the police. It is learned that Mehmet Demir, with his nose broken, got a medical report evidencing the physical violence and made a criminal complaint against the police officer on the charges of ‘intentional injury’ and ‘insult’.

Urfa Governorate declared that an investigation is initiated against police officer E. Ö. who is also suspended.

(06/173) Person Subjected to Physical Violence at Sub-Governorate’s Office in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2020 that, Mehmet Nuri Deniz, a person who went to Şişli Sub-Governorate’s Office to apply for social support was subjected to physical violence and racist expressions of the officers.

It is learned that Mehmet Nuri Deniz got a medical report evidencing the violence and made a criminal complaint.

Mehmet Nuri Deniz states the following: “I went to Şişli Sub-Governorate’s Office and I met an advisor named Mehmet. He said ‘Do we have to give money to you? Go back to wherever you came from. A Kurd comes from Bitlis and wants to live in Nişantaşı? Go back to your village, are you worth of living in Nişantaşı? Why would us give you money?’ to me. When I answered him, a dispute took place. He pushed me and tried to beat me. Then he called two security guards and they beat me until I was in the elevator to where another person came too and these three people beat me again. And then they forced me out of the building”.

It is claimed in the news coverage of June 14, 2020 that, a person (O. İ.) in Giresun was subjected to assault of a racist group on June 13, 2020; for he shared a photo of Selahattin Demirtaş, former co-chair of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) on social media; and that he was injured at his face.

It is stated in the news reports that O. İ. was detained by gendarmerie arriving at the scene; and that O. İ. and 21 Kurdish workers were sent back to Urfa by a bus, on the grounds of ‘security issues’.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 14, 2020 that, prisoners were not given cleaning supplies despite of Covid-19 pandemic, and the food given to prisoners was not sufficient and hygienic in Diyarbakır D Type Prison.

It is claimed in the news coverage of June 14, 2020 that, Hasan Aşa, a prisoner in Diyarbakır D Type Prison, has one gangrened finger and it was amputated because his health issues at fingers were not treated on time.

(06/177) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1314 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 12, 2020 at 13.30 and 18.00 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration at 13.30 on June 13, 2020 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration at 18.00 on June 13, 2020 and detained 4 people (Nuriye Gülmen, Alev Şahin, Nazan Bozkurt and Merve Demirel) by using physical violence. Detained people are released on the same day.

The police intervened the press declarations at 13.30 and 18.00 on June 14, 2020 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

On June 12, 2020, the police intervened the press declaration of Alev Şahin in order to regain her job from which she was dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning in Ankara and forced her away from the building by using physical violence.

The police intervened on the grounds of lack of governorate’s permission to “I Can’t Breathe” protest in front of US Consulate in Ankara on June 12, 2020 and detained 12 people by using physical violence. It is learned that detained people were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in the detention vehicle and 1 person had epileptic seizure in the vehicle.

Detained people are released on the same day. Detained people were: Buse Üçer, Aydın Çetin, Serap Kaplan, Anıl Aktaş, Osman Çokaman, Aysun Gençtanır, Nebiye Merttürk, Gülçin Polat, Tankut Serttaş, Serdar Kibar, Temel Kılıç and Ateş Aktaş.

(06/180) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The sit-in protest of United Trade Union of Transport Employees (BTS) in front of General Directorate of Turkish State Railways in Ankara on June 12, 2020; is prevented by the police on the grounds of lack of permission.

It is learned that journalists following the protest were also prevented by the police.

The police intervened the press declaration of Independent Revolutionary Class Platform (BDSP) on “June 15-16 Worker Resistance” in Gebze district of Kocaeli on June 14, 2020 and detained 13 people by using physical violence and handcuffing them behind their backs. Names of detained people are unknown.

(06/182) Detained HDP Executives and Other People in Erzurum…

On June 14, 2020, 6 people (HDP district executives Dinçer Polat, Nurettin Kandemir and Nimet Yılmaz, and Mahmut Çimendağ suspended member of district council of Karayazı Municipality, Mustafa Gül and Sefa Çelik) are detained in house raids in Karayazı district of Erzurum.

6 members and executives of HDP who were detained in house raids in districts of Bitlis on June 8, 2020 are released on June 12, 2020. 1 person (HDP Party Assembly member lawyer Diyar Orak) is released on judicial control conditions. Detained people were: Diyar Orak, Orhan Bezirganoğlu, Günay Karabaş, Ferda Avkan, Elif Orman Erez, Yunus Başkan.

Hasan Şakar and Şefika Çetin, co-chairs of Peoples’ Democratic Party in Beşiri district of Batman, who were detained after the police raid to district office of HDP on June 11, 2020, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on June 12, 2020.

(06/185) Detained HDP Members in Adana…

HDP’s Ceyhan district co-chair Seyfettin Aydemir and district executives Sabri Duman, Şahin Dorak and Umut Dorak, who went to Ceyhan District Security Directorate on June 12, 2020, to give their official statements through the investigation of Ceyhan Public Prosecutor’s Office on humanitarian relief packages delivered in Adana; are detained.

It is learned that 4 people were released after statement procedures.

(06/186) Detained Executives and Members of Association in Diyarbakır…

3 of 8 people who were detained in Diyarbakır on June 8, 2020 and following days, through an investigation against Association of Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER) are arrested on June 12, 2020. Arrested people are: Bağlar district council member Vahit Doğru, Fatma Gül and Selahattin Çap. 5 people are released on judicial control conditions. 22 people are detained in total through this investigation and 7 people are arrested while 15 people were released on judicial control conditions.

10 people are detained in house raids in Adana on June 14, 2020. Names of detained people and the reason of detention is unknown.

(06/189) Detained People in Mersin…

5 people (Ramazan Arslan, Celal Arslan, Bedran Etiz, Hebat Sayın and Helat Sayın) are detained in house raids in Mersin on June 13, 2020. The reason of detention is unknown. It is learned that one and a half month pregnant woman, Sohbet Aslan, who was detained through the same investigation on June 9, 2020 was hospitalized 2 times while she was under custody.

(06/190) Investigation Against Human Rights Association Co-Chair…

It is learned that an investigation is initiated against Human Rights Association (IHD) co-chair Eren Keskin, on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ for a social media post in 2015; and that Eren Keskin gave her official statement through the investigation on June 13, 2020.

(06/191) Political Party Material Seized by the Police in Edirne…

It is learned that the banners, vests, caps and other material to be used for “Democracy March”, sent from HDP Headquarters to HDP Edirne provincial organisation, are seized at Edirne Bus Terminal by the police on the grounds prosecutor’s office decision. It is reported that HDP’s provincial executive Kerim Tüfekçi was taken to Edirne Security Directorate for his official statement.

It is learned that HDP Bingöl organisation’s research committee went to Karlıova district of Bingöl where an earthquake shook on June 14, 2020 were not allowed to enter the area.

(06/193) Curfew in Eruh…

Siirt Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and declared curfew in 11 villages of Eruh district as of 16.00 on June 13, 2020 until a further notice.

Siirt Governorate made another declaration on June 14, 2020 and lifted the curfew as of 18.00 on the same day.

Villages under curfew were: Çetinkol, Cintepe, Yanılmaz, Görendoruk, Dikboğaz, Dadaklı, Özlüpelit, Dağdöşü, Dönerdöver, Tünekpınar and Demiremek.

(06/194) Ban of Events in Thirteen Cities…

Governorate’s Offices in 13 cities restricted entrance and exit of “participators” of “Democracy Watch” of HDP, before it was to start, and banned open-door events as of June 14, 2020. Restricted cities and periods of restrictions are: Bitlis (not stated), Hakkari (3 days), Kırklareli (7 days), Edirne (3 days), Kocaeli (15 days), Sakarya (5 days), Van (not stated), Tekirdağ (3 days), Adana (15 days), Bursa (7 days), Samsun (7 days), Şırnak (15 days), Antalya (7 days).

Van Governorate has made a declaration on June 5, 2020 and announced that, all open and indoor events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 15 days as of June 7, 2020. All events are banned in Van for 1309 days since November 21, 2016. Van Governorate made another declaration on June 11, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as a part of “Additional precautions for Covid-19” according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on June 12, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Edirne Governorate made a declaration on June 12, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 14, 2020 until June 17, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Kırklareli Governorate made a declaration on June 12, 2020 and banned entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Tekirdağ Governorate made a declaration on June 12, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 14, 2020 until June 17, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Antalya Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 13, 2020 until June 20, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Kırklareli Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all events such as demonstrations, open-door meetings, protests, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, commemorations, hanging banners, posters, delivering leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences, seminars and so on as of June 14, 2020 until June 20, 2020.

Kocaeli Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Kocaeli Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all events such as demonstrations, open-door meetings, protests, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, commemorations, hanging banners, posters, delivering leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences, seminars and so on as of June 13, 2020 until June 27, 2020.

Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 14, 2020 until June 16, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Sakarya Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 15, 2020 until June 20, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Samsun Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all open-door events except for press declarations in political party offices with less than 50 people; entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 14, 2020 until June 20, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Şırnak Governorate made a declaration on June 13, 2020 and banned all open-door events, entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 15, 2020 for 15 days, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Adana Governorate made a declaration on June 14, 2020 and banned all open-door events except for press declarations in political party offices with less than 50 people; entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 15, 2020 for 15 days, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

Bursa Governorate made a declaration on June 14, 2020 and banned all open-door events except for press declarations in political party offices with less than 50 people; entrance of supporters of these events into the city and exit of people to support events in other cities, as of June 14, 2020 until June 20, 2020, according to Provincial Health and Hygiene Board decision.

(06/195) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

28 people are detained in operations covering 8 cities through an Istanbul based investigation on June 12, 2020.

12 of 84 people including military members on active duty who were detained through an Istanbul based investigation are arrested by the court on June 12, 2020. 28 people are released provided that 15 of them will be on judicial control conditions. 10 people have been arrested through the same investigation previously while 22 people were released on judicial control conditions. It is learned that 1 person is still under custody.

On June 14, 2020, 2 people are detained in Ankara and 1 person is detained in Elazığ.

(06/196) Covid-19 Pandemic…

Ministry of Health declared that 15 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,242 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 12, 2020.

Ministry of Health declared that 14 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,459 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 13, 2020.

Ministry of Health declared that 15 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,562 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 14, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 4,807 and total number of confirmed cases is 178,239 as of June 14, 2020.

Hatay Governorate declared on June 12, 2020 that 140 military members and police officers on duty in Syria tested positive for Covid-19.
