According to news reports on October 1, 2025, on February 12, 2025, in the Haftanin region within the borders of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (IKBY), two militants were killed in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) units and HPG militants.
(10/002) Person Subjected to Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Şırnak…
According to news reports on October 1, 2025, it was learned that a person named Adülmecit Uyar, who was detained on the street in the Cizre district of Şırnak, was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment by the police during this time. It was learned that Adülmecit Uyar was injured in various parts of his body as a result of the torture and other ill-treatment he was subjected to.

Comedian Egemen Şimşek, who was detained in Istanbul on September 30, 2025, on the grounds of jokes he made during a performance, was arrested on the same day by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred on the grounds of “insulting the religious values embraced by a segment of the public.”
(10/004) Trial of Former HDP MP…
The trial of Semra Güzel, former Diyarbakır MP of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), who was detained on September 2, 2022, after her immunity was lifted, and arrested by the court she was referred to on September 3, 2022, continued on October 1, 2025, at the Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 22. The court decided to continue Semra Güzel’s detention and adjourned the hearing until November 3, 2025.
(10/005) Trial of the Mayor…
The trial of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who was brought before the Bolu Criminal Court of First Instance No. 6 on the grounds of certain decisions he made regarding refugees/migrants living in Bolu, continued on September 30, 2025. The indictment seeks to punish Tanju Özcan for the crime of ‘hate and discrimination’. The court decided to impose a judicial control measure prohibiting Tanju Özcan from leaving the country and adjourned the hearing to October 7, 2025.
(10/006) Indictment Prepared Against the Mayor…
On October 1, 2025, it was learned from news reports that the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had prepared an indictment against 41 people, including 16 who were detained, among whom were Niyazi Nefi Kara, the mayor of Manavgat district in Antalya, and municipal administrators.
The indictment seeks punishment for the 41 individuals on charges of “bribery,” “corruption,” and “embezzlement.”
Eighteen individuals, including Niyazi Nefi Kara, were arrested on July 10, 2025, and two individuals were released on September 23, 2025, after benefiting from effective repentance.

The trial of manager Ayşe Barım, who was charged in 2013 with participating in the Gezi Protests alongside artists affiliated with her agency, continued on October 1, 2025, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26. The indictment seeks to punish Ayşe Barım for the crime of “aiding an attempt to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey.” After hearing the defenses, the court decided to release Ayşe Barım on the condition that she be placed under house arrest and prohibited from leaving the country, and adjourned the hearing until February 11, 2026.
Ayşe Barım was arrested on January 27, 2025.

The trial of nine individuals who protested the commercial relations between Turkey and Israel during the President’s speech at the ‘TRT World Forum’ event held at the Istanbul Congress Center on November 29-30, 2024, continued on September 30, 2025, at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 8. The indictment seeks punishment for the nine individuals for “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations.” The court adjourned the hearing until February 4, 2026.
(10/009) Discriminatory Practice by the Professional Football Disciplinary Board…
According to news reports on October 1, 2025, the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee once again fined Amedspor 110,000 TL for “violating the sports equipment regulations” due to Kurdish expressions on the advertisements on its jerseys.
