5 people including Batman provincial council member Semra Güneş and MEBYA-DER (Association of People Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations) former executive Taybet Çetinkaya who were detained in house raids in Batman on October 8, 2021 are released by the court on judicial control conditions on October 11, 2021.

12 people including Ramazan Yavuz, an executive of the association; Ahmet Ertaş, former co-chair of the association; Orhan Yaramış, Yunus Emre district co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Peace Mother Şükriye Kızıldağ (70) who were detained in house raids in Izmir and Manisa, through the investigation against the Aegean Association of Families of Prisoners (EGE TUHAY-DER) on October 7, 2021; are released after statement procedures on October 11, 2021.

Tugay Odabaşıoğlu, provincial youth branch chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Denizli who was arrested on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in a speech he made on September 28, 2021, is released from prison after the verdict of Denizli Penal Court of Peace No 2 on October 11, 2021.

12 people have been detained in house raids in Diyarbakır, İstanbul, Hakkari, Bursa and Konya through a Diyarbakır based investigation on October 1, 2021. 6 of them (Hasan Bakır, Ali Osman Nadiroğlu, Ozan Oral, Nizamettin İpek, Mustafa Yıldırım and Mehmet Arif Budak) are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on October 11, 2021. 6 people are released on judicial control conditions.

It is learned from the news coverage of October 11, 2021 that, Ankara Security Directorate Anti-Terror Department raided a wedding ceremony of a Kurdish family in Mamak district of Ankara, on the grounds of complaints about traditional clothes worn at the wedding.

The trial of the case against Hatice Şahin, reporter of Yeni Yaşam newspaper, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on October 11, 2021. The indictment demands sentence for Hatice Şahin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. The court lifted judicial control conditions for Hatice Şahin and adjourned the trial to January 26, 2022.
(10/124) Dargeçit JİTEM Case…
The case against 18 people, for forced disappearance of 8 people including 3 children who were detained in Dargeçit district of Mardin between October 29, 2015 and March 8, 1996; and of special sergeant Bilal Batır, who was alleged to inform families of those disappeared forcefully, is held on Adıyaman Heavy Penal Court No 1 on the charge of ‘intentional killing’ on October 11, 2021. It is learned that the judges of the court board were replaced for the sixth time. The court adjourned the trial to January 10, 2022.

It is learned that on October 11, 2021, Küçükçekmece Public Prosecutor’s Office decided non-prosecution on the criminal complaint about abduction of Gökhan Güneş in Istanbul on January 20, 2021 who was subjected to torture and ill-treatment for 6 days after being abducted.

It is learned that Cizre Sub-Governorate’s Office rejected the application of HDP to organize a festival in Cizre district of Şırnak, on October 11, 2021, on the grounds of Covid-19 pandemic.

It is learned that the news reports about bribery allegations about Istanbul security director and some other police officers, and some news reports on ban of access to these news reports, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://ilerihaber.org, http://www.dokuzsekiz.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 4 on October 11, 2021.

On October 11, 2021, 7 people are detained in operations covering 7 cities through a Konya based investigation.

The Ministry of Health declared that 188 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 30,563 as of October 11, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 66,794 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,436,638 as of October 11, 2021.
