According to news reports on May 11, 2026, it was learned that Mahmut Uludağ, the SOL Party’s Uşak Provincial Spokesperson, was attacked on May 8, 2026, by a group of five people who had set up an ambush at the entrance of the commercial building where his workplace is located, and that he sustained injuries in various parts of his body.

Demirhan Gözaçan, Advisor to the Mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, was detained on May 12, 2026, as part of an investigation centered in Istanbul.
(05/064) Individuals Detained in Istanbul…
As part of an investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), 31 individuals were detained on May 8, 2026 (29 people) and on subsequent dates (2 people). Of these, 12 were remanded in custody by the magistrate’s court on May 11, 2026, while 12 others were released under judicial supervision.
Seven of those detained as part of the aforementioned investigation were released on May 9, 2026 (one after giving a statement to the prosecutor’s office, one under house arrest, and five under judicial supervision with a travel ban).

As part of an investigation targeting the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, 3 of the 5 individuals detained on May 11, 2026, were detained by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred on the same day on charges of “aggravated fraud” and “breach of trust,” while 2 were released under judicial supervision.

The final hearing in the case filed against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the Ankara 47th Civil Court of First Instance, following a complaint by former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, was held on May 11, 2026. The court ordered Özgür Özel to pay 10,000 TL in moral damages.

The trial of Ekmel Çönger, Mayor of the Keskin district of Kırıkkale, which was filed at the Kırıkkale Heavy Penal Court No. 1, continued on May 11, 2026. The indictment seeks the Mayor’s conviction on charges of “bribery.” The court adjourned the hearing until May 15, 2026.
(05/068) The Trial of an Association Executive in Ankara…
The trial of Defne Güzel, Chair of the Board of Directors of the 17 May Association, was initiated on May 11, 2026, at the Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No. 74, on the grounds of a book and exhibition catalog published by the association.
The indictment seeks to punish Defne Güzel for the crime of “violation of public morality.” The court, which announced its decision at the first hearing, acquitted Defne Güzel.
