Worker Health and Worker Safety Assembly (ISIG), in its Child Labor Killings Report published on June 11, 2024, announced that at least 695 children lost their lives while working between 2013 and 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2024, that the food given to prisoners in Ankara Sincan T Type Prison is inadequate and underwear is not sold in the canteen.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2024, that 2 people who had a traffic accident in the Çan district of Çanakkale on June 11, 2024, were stopped by the police and were subjected to physical violence by the police.
The Governorate of Çanakkale announced on June 11, 2024, that police officers who used torture and ill-treatment were suspended from duty after administrative and judicial investigations. 1 of the police officers was arrested by the criminal peace judgeship and the other police officer was released on judicial control condition.
(06/104) Police Intervention Against a Press Statement in Istanbul…
2 people were detained during police intervention against the members of the Prisoners’ Families Assistance and Solidarity Association (TAYAD) who held a press statement at Taksim Square in Istanbul on June 11, 2024, demanding acceptance of the demands of Nurettin Kaya, who is on death fast in Bolu F Type Prison. The names of the detained people are Hasan Basri Yıldız and Hasan Toğan.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2024, that members of the Law for Life Initiative organized a sit-in protest in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul for the right to life of street animals and were attacked with stones by an anonymous person.
(06/106) Former Co-Mayors and Others Arrested in Diyarbakır…
Ahmet Kaya, Ramazan Kartalmış and Fesih Yalçın, former co-mayors of Diyarbakır Ergani Municipality and former deputy mayors Gülistan Polat, Esveri Malkoç and Cavidan Yaman, who were detained in house raids in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır on June 8, 2024, were arrested by the criminal peace judgeship on June 12, 2024, on the allegations of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ on the grounds of municipality activities and demonstrations they participated in between 2014-2019.
(06/107) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against journalist Remzi Akkaya continued on June 11, 2024, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands Remzi Akkaya be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’. The court rejected to release Remzi Akkaya and adjourned the trial to July 8, 2024.
Remzi Akkaya was detained on April 25, 2023, and arrested by the court on April 27, 2023.
(06/108) The Tahir Elçi Case…
The final trial of the case against police officers S.T., F.T., dismissed police officer M.S. and fugitive defendant U.Y., on the killing of Diyarbakır Bar Association Chair Tahir Elçi on November 28, 2015, in Diyarbakır, was held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on June 12, 2024. The court acquitted police officers F.T., M.S. and S.T. separately on the charge of ‘conscious negligent homicide’.
Since the arrest warrant for fugitive defendant U. Y. could not be executed, a decision was taken to dismiss the case.
(06/109) The Hrant Dink Case…
On June 12, 2024, the trial of the new case against 11 people, including Yasin Hayal, one of the instigators of the murder, former police chiefs Ramazan Akyürek, Ali Fuat Yılmazer and Ogün Samast, who was sentenced to 22 years and 10 months in prison for the murder of Hrant Dink and released on probation on November 15, 2023 “in consideration of good behavior”, continued at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14. The prosecutor declared the final opinion and demanded the dismissal of the case against Ahmet İskender, Erhan Tuncel, Ersin Yolcu, Tuncay Uzundal, Yasin Hayal, Zeynel Abidin Yavuz and Ogün Samast due to the statute of limitations, the sentencing of Adem Sağlam for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’, the sentencing of Ali Fuat Yılmazer and Ramazan Akyürek for ‘attempting to change the constitutional order’, and the dismissal of the case against Faruk Sarı and Yahya Öztürk. The court decided to continue judicial control measures against the defendants and adjourned the trial to October 16, 2024.
(06/110) Person on Trial in Izmir…
The final trial of the case against 1 person (Alperen Yılmaz), for his social media posts praising Onur Gencer, who committed an armed attack to Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Izmir provincial office on June 17, 2021 and killed Deniz Poyraz, a party worker whom he took hostage, and for his social media posts praising Onur Gencer’s attack, was held at Izmir Penal Court of First Instance No 15 on June 11, 2024. The court acquitted Alperen Yılmaz on the charge of ‘inciting the public to hatred and hostility’ and sentenced him to 442 days judicial fine and deferred the announcement of the verdict on the charge of ‘insulting a public officer for his duty’.

On June 12, 2024, the final hearing of the moral damages lawsuit filed against actress Ezgi Mola for a social media post she made about Specialized Sergeant Musa Orhan, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for ‘qualified sexual assault’ in the case where he sexually assaulted a child named İpek Er and drove her to suicide, was held at Uşak Banaz Civil Court of First Instance. The court ruled Ezgi Mola to pay 10 thousand TL non-pecuniary damages.

The trial of the case against Mehmet Fatih Taş and Fatma Ay, the then Co-Mayors of Diyarbakır’s Kulp district, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) District Co-Chair Mehmet Abidin Karaman, Kulp Municipality Public Works Director Şener Aktaş, Mehmet Emin Ay, whose mayoral candidacy from HDP was rejected by the Supreme Election Board, and Yücel Çete, a member of Kulp Municipality Assembly, Ümit Fidan and Kendal Barut, who were added to the file later, continued on June 12, 2024, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 with the allegations of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’, ‘intentional killing, unauthorized possession or possession of dangerous substances’, ‘disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state’, ‘praising offense and the offender’, ‘killing by fire, flood, destruction, sinking, bombing or using nuclear, biological, chemical weapons’. Heavy Penal Court continued the trial on June 12, 2024. The court adjourned the hearing to October 3, 2024.
Mehmet Fatih Taş, Fatma Ay, Şener Aktaş, Mehmet Emin Ay and Abidin Karaman were detained through the investigation initiated after the bombing attack in the Kulp district of Diyarbakır on September 12, 2019, in which 7 people including village guards died; and they were arrested by the court on September 16, 2019 and were released on the first trial held on December 11, 2019. Kendal Barut was arrested on May 16, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2024, that the prosecutor’s office decided ‘no prosecution’ in the investigation initiated as a result of the criminal complaint made to Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office on May 14, 2024, about journalist Esra Solin Dal being subjected to strip search twice while she was kept in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison.
Esra Solin Dal was arrested on 26 April 2024 on the allegation of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ after being detained in Istanbul on 23 April 2024. On May 21, 2024, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 25 released the journalist on judicial control conditions.
(06/114) Constitutional Court Decision on the Monitoring of Lawyer-Client Meetings in Prison…
On June 12, 2024, the Constitutional Court (AYM) evaluated the individual application of Celaleddin Kolutek, who has been in detention since July 17, 2016, regarding the disciplinary proceedings initiated against him due to the statements he made during the meeting with his lawyer, which was monitored by prison officials, and ruled that his rights to respect of privacy and fair trial were violated.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2024, that on June 10, 2024, Republican Women’s Association (Cumhuriyet Kadınları Derneği) issued a press statement targeting LGBTI+s with the following statement: “As the only women’s mass organization that has revealed the danger of LGBT and has been at the forefront of the social struggle against LGBT, welcome to our press statement on the fight against LGBT and banning LGBT propaganda…The LGBT movement is an ideological tool created and used by the global exploitation system to eliminate the family, nation, and national states. This is not said by us but by LGBT’s own ideologists.”
It is also reported in the news that the Republican Women’s Association opened stands in 6 different provinces to collect signatures on their phobic and discriminatory demands.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2024, that the content on https://www.ahaber.com.tr, https://teyit.organd https://eksisozluk.com related to a company whose products were found to contain pork meat was banned from access by Bakırköy Criminal Peace Judgeship No. 2 on June 10, 2024 on the grounds of violation of personal rights.
