It is learned that the appeal made on January 12, 2023 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

The trial of the case against journalist İsmail Saymaz, on the charge of ‘seizing and disseminating personal data’ for a news report published in the Hürriyet newspaper on March 10, 2020, about the alleged raid of a hospital in Kayseri by a prosecutor, is held at Niğde Penal Court of First Instance No. 2 on January 10, 2023. The court adjourned the trial to February 14, 2023.

It is learned that on January 12, 2023 the Penal Department No. 9 of Diyarbakır Regional Court of Justice approved the 1 year 6 months and 22 days of sentence given by Diyarbakır Heavy Penal court No. 5 on June 30, 2022 in the case against journalist Abdurrahman Gök who has captured the moment Kemal Kurkut was killed by police officers at the Newroz celebration in Diyarbakır in 2017.

It is learned that the indictment of Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against 7 people including Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, regarding a tender held when İmamoğlu was Beylikdüzü district mayor, is accepted by Istanbul Büyükçekmce Penal Court of First Instance on January 11, 2023. The first trial of the case will be held on June 15, 2023.

The trial of the case against Şafak Duran, a social worker in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 32 on January 11, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Şafak Duran on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. Şafak Duran attended the trial. After defence hearings the court decided to continue the detention of Şafak Duran and adjourned the trial. Şafak Duran was detained on April 27, 2022 and was arrested by the court on April 29, 2022.

On January 11, 2022, an unidentified person or persons attacked the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Muş provincial office. It is learned that material damage occurred in the office as a result of the attack, with no dead or injured.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 11, 2023 that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV channel, with administrative fine for criticizing a previous fine in a programme.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 11, 2023 that the RTUK issued TV5 channel, with broadcast ban for 3 times for having former Hakan Şükür, who was charged within the “Fethullahist Terrorist Organisation/ Parallel State Structure investigations”, as a guest of a programme.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 11, 2023 that the RTUK issued Radio Sputnik channel, with broadcast ban for 3 times for bringing forward the allegations of torture and ill-treatment in prisons in a programme.

It is learned that the news reports about SADAT (International Defence Consulting Construction Industry and Trade Inc.) published on https://bianet.org, https://muyesseryildiz.com, https://www.sozcu.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No. 9 on January 11, 2023.
