(01/093) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police prevented the press declaration in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry building in Ankara on January 11, 2020, organized by Cargill workers who had been dismissed from their job for being union members and who had been having protests for thousand days since then. The workers who then held a sit-in protest in front of Tekgıda-İş (Union of Food Workers) office, but the police intervened the sit-in protest and detained 10 people. Detained 10 people are released after statement procedures on the same day. It is learned that workers and union managers who were released at night, were stopped in their car and they were imposed administrative fine for violating the curfew.

(01/094) Detained Union Manager and Other People in Mersin…

6 of 7 people including Musa Özdemir, former chair of Media, Communication and Postal Employees Union (Haber-Sen), who were detained on January 8, 2021 in Mersin are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on January 11, 2021. 1 person (Sedat Topçu) is released on house confinement. The names of arrested people learned so far are: Musa Özdemir, Kasım Dayangaç, İbrahim Erbek, Akif Aras.

(01/095) Detained People in Mardin…

On January 11, 2021, 5 people are detained in house raids in Dargeçit district of Mardin. Names of detained people are: Emine Gevcan, Hakim Gevcan, Nezir Duman, Fıhriye Ercan, Arjin Gevcan. It is learned that detained people are taken to Mardin Gendarmerie Command.

(01/096) Detained People in Van…

7 of 10 people who were detained through a Van based investigation on January 8, 2021, are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on January 11, 2021. 3 people are released on judicial control conditions.

Arrested people are: former İpekyolu district co-mayor Beritan Tayan, Harun Mamuk, Mehmet Sertkal, Şerafettin Kural, Bayram Ogun, Cahit Hezer, Süleyman Kuş.

Released people are: Nazmi Işık, Şefik Başdinç, Sefer Vural.

(01/97) People on Trial in Ankara…

The final trial of the case against 5 people including 4 students of Middle East Technical University students for carrying a banner with “The Kingdom of Tayyips” cartoon at graduation ceremony on July 6, 2018; is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 11 on January 11, 2021. The court acquitted 5 people on the charge of ‘insulting the President’.

(01/097) Curfew in Bitlis…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on January 11, 2021 and announced curfew in 10 villages of the central district as of 21.30 on January 11, 2021 until a further notice. The villages under curfew are: Kayalıbağ, Kaşıklı, Karaca, Aşağıçobansuyu, Çobansuyu, Güllüce, Esenburun, Harmanyeri, Sarıkonak, Konalga.

On January 11, 2021, 1 person is detained in a house raid in Urfa.

2 people who were deported from Ukraine on January 6, 2021 are arrested by the court in Turkey on January 11, 2021.

(01/099) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the video of declarations of Mustafa Yeneroğlu, deputy chair of the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA Party) which was published on https://t24.com.tr/ website is banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 11 on January 11, 2021.

It is learned that the social media account of the Lawyers’ Rights Group (@AvukatHG) which was sharing posts on the allegation of sexual assault to a woman named A. T., is banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 1 on January 8, 2021.

(01/100) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 174 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,003 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on January 11, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 10,2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 22,981 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 2,336,476 as of January 11, 2021.

It is learned that pharmacist Salih İncehasan in Tekirdağ lost his life due to Covid-19 on January 11, 2021.
