It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, in Konya Ereğli T Type Closed Prison, personal belongings of prisoners were being seized by the correction officers during ward searches and those who react against it were subjected to disciplinary proceedings; and the phone calls of prisoners are interrupted and cut off as they speak about the right violations.
(08/102) Hunger Strike in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, the application for being the hospital attendant for Gökhan Yıldırım, who is on hunger strike since December 25, 2021 in Tekirdağ F Type Prison No. 1, and was taken to Tekirdağ City Hospital on August 10, 2022 for his medical report was rejected on the grounds of the Covid-19 epidemic.
It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, in Tekirdağ F Type Prison No. 2 the prison administration does not provide sugar for 6 prisoners who are on hunger strike since August 1, 2022 to support Sibel Balaç and Gökhan Yıldırım who are on hunger strike.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, the investigation opened by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the death of Ferhan Yılmaz, one of the six prisoners who attempted suicide on April 8, 2022, after torture and other ill-treatment in Istanbul Silivri L Type Prison No. 5, resulted in non-prosecution on July 4, 2022.

It is learned that the appeal made on August 12, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

It is learned that DEVA Party Karaman provincial chair Burak Demirer and journalist Hüseyin Ölger were attacked with sticks by a group, including the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Karaman central district chairman, on August 11, 2022. It is as learned that Burak Demirer and Hüseyin Ölger, who were injured, were taken to the hospital.

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on August 11, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration of TAYAD members on August 11, 2022 in front of the Forensic Medicine Institution in Istanbul, regarding Gökhan Yıldırım who is on hunger strike in Prison, and detained 2 people (Feridun Osmanağaoğlu and Hasan Basri Yıldız).

The police intervened the press declaration of workers demanding their rights and protesting the working conditions at the Finance Center in Ataşehir district of Istanbul, held in front of Emlak Konut Real Estate Investment on August 11, 2022; and detained 12 people including union executives. Detained people are released on the same day.
The police intervened the press declaration held on August 12, 2022, on the grounds of ban decision of Ataşehir district governorate’s office, and detained 11 people including journalist Zeynep Kuray.

It is learned that Mehdi Mıhçı, who was detained in Istanbul on August 6, 2022 and was subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody at the Anti-Terror Department of the Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate, is arrested on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on August 11, 2022.
(08/110) Police Raid to ESP Office and Detained People in Izmir…
The police raided the provincial office of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) in Izmir before the commemoration for Ulaş Alankuş, a member of the Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) and the People’s United Revolutionary Movement (HBDK), who lost his life in a clash in Ağrı, on August 11, 2022. It is learned that 20 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) provincial co-chair Çınar Altan were detained and they were released after statement procedures.

It is learned that 2 people (HDP Bekirhan town co-chair Sezgin Yavuz and Yusuf Şahin) who were detained by gendarmerie in house raids in Kozluk district of Batman on August 9, 2022, are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation member’ on August 11, 2022.

HDP Şırnak provincial co-chair Sabuha Akdağ is detained at the Provincial Security Directorate where she went for an official statement on August 11, 2022. The reason for detention is unknown.

It is learned that 1 person (S. E. Ç.) who was detained in Adana on August 9, 2022, is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on August 11, 2022.
(08/114) Detained TAYAD Members in Tekirdağ…
The police stopped the members of the Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts (TAYAD) at the city entrance, who wanted to go to Tekirdağ City Hospital, where Gökhan Yıldırım was taken to on August 11, 2022. And detained 10 people. Detained people are released on the same day after statement procedures. Detained people are: Pınar Birkoç, Özmen Mertkan Çim, Uğurcan Gün, İsmail Kara, Hasan Güzel, Ferdi Sarıkaya, Coşkun Öztekin, Erdinç Öksüz, Fahrettin Keskin, Rezzan Şengül.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, the 15 August Virgin Mary Fair, organized by the İmroz Education and Culture Association in the Gökçeada district of Çanakkale, was cancelled due to the complaints made about it.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 11, 2022 that, Ataşehir District Governorate in Istanbul banned “Meeting and press releases, especially by workers who are members of İnşaat-İş and Dev-Yapı-İş unions, around the YDA Construction company building and Emlak Konut building, for 1 month as of August 11, 2022 on the grounds of protection of national security and public order”.

A circular on “Security and Housing Measures in Universities” was sent to the governorships of 81 provinces by the Ministry of Interior on August 11, 2022. In the circular, the security measures to be taken at universities are listed as follows: “Works will be carried out for the dissemination of X-Ray devices, door detectors and security camera systems in the university and dormitory campuses; activities of illegal organizations such as student clubs and women’s platforms that are considered to be affiliated with terrorist organizations will be monitored and their activities that may turn into propaganda activities will not be allowed; the provocative posts with disinformation content to be made on social media, especially about housing problems, will be detected and necessary actions will be taken against those who share these posts”.

It is learned that 1 person who was detained in Adana on August 12, 2022, is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on the same day.
