(11/125) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declarations which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” going on for 1463 days in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 10, 2020 at 18.00 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(11/126) Detained Co-Mayor, District Council Members and Other People in Şırnak…

On November 9, 2020, 11 people including co-mayor and district council members were detained in house raids in Şırnak. 5 people [district council members Aziz Uygur, Selahattin Özkalay, Sabri Erdoğmuş, Peoples’ Democratic Society Party (HDP) member Reşit Çağlı and Musa Acar] are released after statement procedures on November 10, 2020. It is learned that 6 people are still under custody.

(11/127) Detained HDP Executives in Erzurum…

On November 10, 2020, 2 executives of HDP (Necemttin Aydın and Adem Gözüngü) are detained in house raids in Horasan district of Erzurum. The reason of detention is unknown.

HDP Party Assembly member Murat Aydın is detained on the grounds of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on November 10, 2020 in Bingöl.

(11/129) Detained Journalist in Istanbul…

It is learned that Tele 1 foreign news editor, writer and journalist Çağlar Tekin was detained on November 10, 2020 at Istanbul Courthouse where he went to give his official statement through an investigation for a news report he shared; and that he was released after statement procedures.

(11/130) Detained Newspaper Employee in Ankara…

It is learned that Hamdullah Bayram, an employee of Yeni Yaşam newspaper, was detained in Ankara on November 10, 2020 and was released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

(11/131) Journalists on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against journalists Canan Coşkun, Ali Açar and Can Uğur, for the news reports about death of Berkin Elvan, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 34 on November 10, 2020. Berkin Elvan lost his life after being shot by a gas canister during Gezi Park protests in Istanbul in 2013.

The indictment demands sentence for journalists on the charge of ‘targeting a public officer who took part in the fight against terrorism’.

After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to February 23, 2021.

(11/132) Lawyer on Trial in Adana…

The first trial of the case against lawyer Şiar Rişvanoğlu, a member of Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD) which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, is held at Adana Heavy Penal Court No 9 on November 10, 2020. The case was opened for expressions “Kurdistan” and “guerrilla” that Şiar Rişvanoğlu used during his speech at the general meeting of Adana Bar Association on October 15, 2018.

The indictment demands sentence for Şiar Rişvanoğlu on the charge of ‘publicly degrading Turkish Nation, State of the Turkish Republic, Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the judicial bodies of the state’.

Şiar Rişvanoğlu attended the trial, after defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 28, 2021.

(11/133) Person on Trial in Balıkesir…

The first trial of the case against Taylan Kulaçoğlu, for the social media posts of the account “Movement of the Nameless”, is held at Balıkesir Heavy Penal Court No 3 on November 10, 2020.

It is learned that the court board did not attend the trial because of Covid-19 pandemic, and a substitute committee held the trial. Taylan Kulaçoğlu joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. The court decided to continue detention of Taylan Kulaçoğlu and adjourned the trial to December 2, 2020.

Taylan Kulaçoğlu was detained on the grounds of ‘provoking to commit offense’ and ‘praising offense and offender’, and he was later released. After the appeal of the prosecutor’s office he was arrested on May 20, 2020.

(11/134) People on Trial in Mardin…

The final trial of the case against Şerafettin Aslan and Abidin Esen, Derik district co-chair of MEYADER (Mesopotamia Association for Solidarity and Support for Relatives of Disappeared Persons), for a banner which was held at a funeral, is held at Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 4 November 10, 2020.

The court sentenced 2 people to 2 years and 1 month each on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’.

(11/135) Suspended Provincial Council Members in Şırnak…

On November 10, 2020, 5 members from Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) of the provincial council in Şırnak are suspended by the Ministry of Interior.

Suspended members of the provincial council are: Mesut Nart, Yakup Tanış, Ömer Güngen, Şirin Kılınç and Elfesya Nas.

(11/136) Proceedings Against Parliamentary Members…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 10, 2020 that, 5 proceedings demanding lift of impunity of 5 parliamentary members are submitted to Grand National Assembly.

Parliamentary members subjected to proceedings are:

  • HDP İzmir MP Serpil Kemalbay
  • HDP Tunceli MP Alican Önlü
  • HDP Iğdır MP Habip Eksik
  • CHP Group Deputy and İstanbul MP Engin Altay
  • CHP İstanbul MP Aykut Erdoğdu

(11/137) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On November 10, 2020, 70 people including military members on active duty are detained in operations covering 21 cities through an Istanbul based investigation; and 4 people are detained in Istanbul.

1 person who was detained in Ankara on November 7, 2020 is arrested by the court on November 10, 2020.

(11/138) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 87 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,529 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on November 10, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 11,059 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 399,360 as of November 10, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 10, 2020 that, 9 health workers lost their lives from Covid-19, between November 7 and 9, 2020. Names of the health workers are:  Habip Demirel, Murat Öndeş, Murat Yeni, Metin Kebapçı, Aslı Yıldız, Önder Kuşakçıoğlu, Mesut Cem İlkin, Hüseyin İlhami Okatan, Orhan Özgül.

Turkish Medical Association made a declaration on November 11, 2020 and announced that 145 health workers including 63 doctors in Turkey lost their lives from Covid-19 as of November 10, 2020.
