(05/056) Child Wounded in Urfa by Fire Opened from Syria…

It is learned that the 9-year-old child (Y. Y.) in Ceylanpınar district of Urfa, who has got wounded in the head by the fire opened from Serêkaniyê area of Syria on May 7, 2022, lost his life in hospital on May 10, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022 that, Yusuf Akmısır, a prisoner in Bolu F Type Prison, lost his life on May 7, 2022. It is stated in the news reports that he committed suicide.

(05/058) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022 that, 3 prisoners in Edirne F Type Prison were transferred to Antalya S Type Prison under coercion. It is reported that Zerdeşt Oduncu, one of the prisoners, is being kept in a solitary cell.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022 that, in Izmir Şakran Prison, 32 prisoners are kept in a ward and are given food for only 15 people.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022 that, the Furkan Foundation chair Alparslan Kuytul is transferred from Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison to Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison.

It is learned that Ekim Polat, a prisoner in Denizli T Type Prison started a hunger strike demanding an end to right violations in prison on May 9, 2022.

It is learned that the appeal made on May 10, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in order to visit him was not responded.

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on May 10, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) on May 10, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

On May 10, 2022, 12 people including 5 children are detained in house raids in Derik district of Mardin, on the grounds of participating in Newroz celebrations. 12 people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

On May 10, 2022, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) town co-chair Müzeyyen İnan and Osman İnan are detained in house raids in Ereban town of İdil district of Şırnak. The reason of detention is unknown.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022, that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against journalist İsmail Saymaz for the news report about the wife of a judge in the Gezi Case.

(05/067) Investigation Against Person for Social Media Post…

It is learned that İstanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against a person named O. T. on the grounds of ‘inciting hatred and hostility among people and insult’ by sharing a photograph of drinking alcohol at the Qadr Night”. It is learned that O. T. was send to the court to be arrested after making official statement at the prosecutor’s office on May 10, 2022 and was released by the court on judicial control conditions. It is reported that the prosecutor’s office objected the release.

(05/068) The Case Against IHD Co-Chair…

The first trial of the case against Öztürk Türkdoğan, co-chair of the Human Rights Association (IHD) on the grounds of ‘insult’ by the expressions in the declaration about the Interior Minister, published on the association’s website in 2018, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 60, on May 11, 2022. The court adjourned the trial to June 27, 2022.

(05/069) The Case Against IHD Balıkesir Branch Co-Chair…

The first trial of the case against IHD Balıkesir branch co-chair Rafet Fahri Semizoğlu, on the grounds of ‘violating the law on prevention of financing terrorism’ is held at Balıkesir Heavy Penal Court No 2 on May 10, 2022. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to September 8, 2022.

(05/070) HDP Members and Executives on Trial in Van…

The first trial of the case against HDP Van provincial co-chair Fikret Doğan, İpekyolu district former co-chair Dilgeş Aslan, Cengiz Acar and Yaver Kumli, for the banner about the racist attack in Konya where 7 people have died, hung outside of HDP’s İpekyolu district office, is held at Van Penal Court of First Instance No 4 on May 10, 2022.

The indictment demands sentence for 4 people on the charge of ‘inciting hatred and hostility among public’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to July 10, 2022.

(05/071) CHP Executive on Trial…

The trial of the case against CHP Istanbul provincial chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu on the grounds of insulting the Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, is held at Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 40 on May 10, 2022.

Canan Kaftancıoğlu attended the trial and made her defence declaration, the court adjourned the trial.

(05/072) Children on Trial for Pride March in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against 2 children, who have been detained by the police intervening the Pride March in Istanbul in 2021, is held at Istanbul Juvenile Court No 4 on May 10, 2022. The court acquitted 2 children.

(05/073) Prisoners on Trial in Ankara…

It is learned that the indictment of Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office against 11 prisoners (Berin Sarı, Fatma Aslan, Nevroz Müçel, Simanur Pamuk, Zeynep Bingöl, Bermal Birtek, Demet Resuloğlu, Dilan Aslan, Hicran Binici, Servin Karakoç and Zeynep Sipcik) in Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison, on the grounds that they have made vinegar in their ward, is accepted by Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 14 on May 10, 2022. The first trial will be held on June 2, 2022.

(05/074) June 5 – Diyarbakır Case…

Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 has reversed the verdict of local court in the case against 14 police officers for ‘official misconduct’ related to the bombing attack to HDP’s rally in Diyarbakır on June 5, 2015. Diyarbakır Penal Court of First Instance No 14 has sentenced 4 police officers (Mefaret S., Akın D., Ali K. and Murat D.) to 2 months and 15 days on October 8, 2021. The retrial is held on May 10, 2022.

It is learned that journalists were not allowed in the courtroom. The court acquitted 4 police officers.

(05/075) Ban of Events in Batman and Rize…

Batman Governorate’s Office made a declaration on May 10, 2022, and announced that all open-door meetings, press declarations, protests, marches, greetings, human chain protests, laying wreaths, distributing leaflets, opening stands and tents and so on are banned for 15 days as of May 15, 2022.

Rize Governorate’s office made a declaration on May 10, 2022 and announced that all demonstrations and open-door meetings are banned for 5 days as of May 12, 2022. It is stated that other events such as press declarations, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and posters, carrying torches, conducting surveys, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, opening stands, collecting petitions and so on are subjected to permission of the local administration.

(05/076) Administrative Fine for Television Channels…

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022, that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV, Tele1 TV, Flash TV and KRT TV channels with administrative fines, for broadcasting declarations of CHP and the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TIP) parliamentary members after the court’s verdict in the Gezi Case.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 10, 2022, that 1328 websites were closed down by a court decision, upon the request of the Osmaniye Provincial Gendarmerie Command Department of Cybercrime.

(05/078) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 7 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 1,858 as of May 10, 2022.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 98,854 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 15,046,729 as of May 10, 2022.
