The Ministry of Defence launched the “Claw-Eagle 2” operation in Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on February 10, 2021 and it is declared that 2 soldiers (Burak Coşkun and Harun Turhan) died while 4 soldier got wounded in a clash between military members and HPG militants in Gara area on the same day.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021 that, Murat Aktaş, a prisoner who was subjected to physical violence of the correction officers in Edirne F Type Prison was subjected to disciplinary proceedings.
(02/137) Police Prevention to Protest About Hunger Strikes in Prison…
The police prevented the press declaration of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in front of Diyarbakır D Type Prison on February 10, 2021; which was held to draw attention to indefinite hunger strikes that started on November 27, 2020 in prisons to demand an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. It is learned that the group gathered outside of Kayapınar district office of HDP upon prevention, and that the police prevented the press declaration to be held there too.

On February 10, 2021, 5 people are detained on the grounds of wall writings to protest the new rector appointment to Boğaziçi University and arrest of students in Istanbul.
Hasan Koral Hacıbeyoğlu, a student of Bilgi University who was detained in Istanbul is arrested by the court on February 10, 2021.

On February 10, 2021, 3 people (Meryem Yıldırım, Vedat Turğut and Tunahan Alıç) are detained for hanging posters against strip search under custody in Izmir. 3 people are released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

On February 10, 2021, 1 person (Ahmet Yılmaz) is detained in Tatvan district of Bitlis. The reason of detention is unknown.
(02/141) Turkish Medical Association Board Member on Trial…
The first trial of the case against Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Honorary Board member doctor Şeyhmus Gökalp is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on February 10, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence from 7 years and 6 months up to 15 years for Şeyhmus Gökalp on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ for participating in Democratic Society Congress (DTK) activities.
It is learned that only 18 people including Turkish Medical Association chair Şebnem Korur Fincancı and other Honorary Board members were allowed in the courtroom and others were not. Şeyhmus Gökalp attended the trial and made his defence. After defence hearings the court released Şeyhmus Gökalp and adjourned the trial.
Şeyhmus Gökalp was arrested on November 23, 2020.

The first trial of the case against journalist Selda Manduz is held at Kars Heavy Penal Court No 2 on February 10, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence for Selda Manduz on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to March 9, 2021.

The final trial of the case against Arzu Karaman, former co-chair of HDP in Bağlar district, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on February 10, 2021.
The court sentenced Arzu Karaman to 9 years on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV channel with administrative fine, for a news report broadcasted in a programme.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021, RTUK issued Habertürk television channel with administrative fine, for the expressions “The governor is a militant, the sub-governor is a militant, the judges are militant” of a guest in a programme.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued KRT TV channel with administrative fine, for the expressions “Nowadays the security force which should be the police force of the public is used liked the militants of the government” of Zafer Arapkirli, the prime-time newscaster.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued TELE1 television channel with administrative fine, for the expression “dictator” used for the President.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued FOX TV channel with administrative fine, for a news report broadcasted in the prime-time newscast.

On February 10, 2021, 15 people are detained in operations covering 4 cities through a Konya based investigation and 1 person is detained in Ankara.
(02/146) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 95 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 664 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on February 10, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 8,642.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 27,093 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 2,556,837 as of February “0, 2021.
It is learned from the news coverage of February 10, 2021 that, Sıddık Güler, an 81-year-old prisoner in Hatay Iskenderun T Type Prison tested positive for Covid-19.
