(12/056) Trans Prisoner Died in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 10, 2025 that a trans prisoner in Ankara Sincan Prison died under suspicious circumstances.
Lawyers who met with other trans prisoners in the same ward with the deceased prisoner stated the following in their statements to the press “According to the statements of trans prisoners; after the incident, the guards were called and there was a commotion in the room and the medical team did not arrive. At the first moment, they said that the prisoner’s pulse was very weak and his hair was shaved and he was very bad. The rope was not in the room and it is not known how the rope was brought into the room. The incident does not look like a suicide. The rope was not in the room, but the hair of the person who was newly transferred to the room was shaved and 4 trans prisoners were taken to a psychiatrist together for the first time.”

It is learned from the news coverage of December 10, 2025 that LGBTI+ prisoners in Istanbul Metris Prison No 2 were not referred to infirmary and hospital and were not given their medication and their right to access to health was restricted.

On December 10, 2025, after the intervention of private security units to a stand opened by Communication Club in Kocaeli University campus, it is learned that a student named Abbas Vural was subjected to physical violence of the security supervisor and other security personnel in a room where he was called.
Abbas Vural stated the following in his statement to the press “We got the necessary permissions for our New Year’s Eve events, and today we opened a stand to announce them to the students in preparation. After a while, when I was the only one at the stand, the security supervisor came up to me and asked if the event was allowed and I showed him the documents we had, then he swore at me. He told me to remove the stand. I told him to give me my student ID card, he called me to the room where the security guards were and they surrounded me with other security guards and the security chief beat me.”

The police intervened the press declaration of MPs and Ankara Women’s Platform in front of the Parliament building on December 11, 2025, regarding the allegations of sexual abuse of children working as interns at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). No one was detained. It is learned that the press declaration was held despite the intervention.

It is learned that on December 10, 2025, a stand opened by Communication Club in Kocaeli University campus was intervened by the security chief, although it was allowed by the rectorate.

Journalist Enver Aysever, who was detained on December 11, 2025 due to his remarks in a social media post, was arrested by the criminal court of peace on the same day on the charge of ‘provoking hatred and hostility among people or insulting them’.
