(09/082) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence declared that 3 soldiers (Tugay Abacı, Mücahit Sınırtepe and Ramazan Demir) died, and 2 soldiers got wounded in an attack against Turkish Armed Forces units in Idlib area of Syria on September 11, 2021. The attacker group is not declared.

The Ministry of National Defence declared that 2 soldier (Faruk Erdem) died and 1 soldier got wounded in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

(09/083) Abducted Person in Ankara…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 11, 2021 that, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Sincan district co-chair Fatma Kılıçarslan was abducted by persons who presented themselves as police officers in Ankara on September 8, 2021. Fatma Kılıçarslan was also threatened by these persons, and was released on the same day.

Fatma Kılıçarslan stated the following to the press: “I was on my way home from work. At one point, a white car stopped in front of me, the persons in the car said that they were police officers and will take me to the police station for official statement. When I tried to call my lawyer, they seized my phone and tried to get me in the car. I called for help, the shopkeepers around gathered, one of them get in the car and took the car key so that they would not start the car. But the police officers beat this person, and show their police identity cards to those who gathered to help me. After sending them away, they took me in the car and kept me in there for about 45 minutes. They said ‘We will make your life unbearable in Ankara. Next time you will open your eyes in Jarabulus and find yourself naked in a remote place’ to threaten me.”

(09/084) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Adana…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 12, 2021 that, 3 members of the Furkan Foundation who went to Adana Provincial Security Directorate to make their official statements through an investigation on September 10, 2021 were detained, and they were subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody.

The lawyers of 3 them stated the following: “These 3 people have gone to the security directorate for official statements on Friday. And then we could not receive any information about them. After we tried to get some information, the officers told us that they were detained. They have been interrogated several times. And when they stated that it was illegal to be interrogated like this, they have been subjected to heavy violence. Although they were examined by a doctor for violence complaints, they could not get a medical report evidencing the violence. One of them were pressured to accept that he owns a car although the car was not him.”

It is reported that, the police used physical violence to intervene the Furkan Foundation members who went in front of the security directorate after hearing of the torture allegations.

It is learned that unidentified person or persons has written “Kurd Alewi Get Out of Here” on the door of a Kurdish Alewi family in Mersin on September 11, 2021. It is reported that the police launched an investigation.

(09/086) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 12, 2021 that, Ekim Polat, a prisoner in Denizli T Type Prison was subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the correction officers because he has spoken to the prison prosecutor about the torture and ill-treatment that he had been subjected to earlier.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 12, 2021 that, two prisoners, the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) former co-chair Sebahat Tuncel and Sibel Akdeniz, in Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison were subjected to disciplinary proceedings on the grounds of chanting slogans. IT is learned that Sebahat Tuncel was imposed a penalty of prevention of visits for 1 month and Sibel Akdeniz was imposed a penalty of prevention of communication rights for 1 month as a result.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 12, 2021 that, the political prisoners in Düzce T Type Prison were threatened to be sent in the wards of ordinary prisoners.

The hunger strike in prisons demanding an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan that started on November 27, 2020, is ended on the 290th day on September 12, 2021.

(09/088) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 10, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers, family and tutelary in order to visit him was not responded.

(09/089) Detained LGBTI+ Activist in Aydın…

It is learned that Hikmet Hazer, an LGBTI+ activist was detained as he was hanging posters reading “Organize against LGBTI-phobia, discrimination, marginalisation, exploitation and speciesism” in Aydın on September 10, 2021. Hikmet Hazer is released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

(09/090) Detained People in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that 4 people are detained in Kurşunlu rural neighbourhood of Dicle district of Diyarbakır, during the military operation on September 12, 2021. It is reported that 2 of the detainees were released on the same day while 2 other detainees were still under custody.

(09/091) Detained Newspaper Distributor and Other People in Van…

Vedat Fidan, one of the 3 people who were detained in house raids in Van on September 9, 2021 is arrested by the court on September 10, 2021. 2 others (Ejder Sarı, a distributor of Yeni Yaşam newspaper and Yunus Küçükçelebi) are released on judicial control conditions.

(09/092) Detained People in Şırnak…

8 people who were detained in house raids of gendarmerie in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak on September 9, 2021, are released by the court on September 10, 2021 provided that 3 of them will be on judicial control conditions.

(09/093) Detained People in Mersin and Maraş…

3 people (Cengiz Dere, Tuba Salman and 1 more person) who were detained in Mersin and Maraş on the grounds of sending money to prisoners, are released by the court on September 10, 2021.

(09/094) SGDF Members on Trial in Ankara…

The trial of the case against Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) members Okan Danacı, Yücel Yavuz and Devrim Taylan Eryılmaz is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 27 on September 10, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for 3 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

Okan Danacı joined the trial form prison via sound and vision system. The court decided to release Okan Danacı on judicial control conditions; and adjourned the trial to January 25, 2021.

Yücel Yavuz and Devrim Taylan Eryılmaz were detained on October 16, 2020, were arrested by the court on October 19, 2020 and they were released by the court at the first trial held on April 8, 2021. Okan Danacı was detained on December 15, 2020 and was arrested on December 16, 2020.Yücel Yavuz and Devrim Taylan Eryılmaz were released from prison after the first trial on April 8, 2021.

(08/095) HDP Executive on Trial in Van…

The trial of the case against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Fırat Keser is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 2 on September 10, 2021.

Fırat Keser joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. After defence hearings the court decided to release Fırat Keser and adjourned the trial to September 21, 2021.

(09/096) Curfew in Bitlis…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on September 11, 2021 and announced curfew in 9 villages of the central district as of 03.00 on September 11, 2021 until a further notice.

The villages under curfew are: Ağaçpınar, Ayrancılar, Kaşıklı, Kayalıbağ, Karaca, Konalga, Yeşilsırt, Narlıdere, Tanrıyar.

Bitlis Governorate made another declaration on September 11, 2021 and announced curfew in 9 other villages of the central district as of 21.30 on September 11, 2021 until a further notice. The governorate’s office lifted the curfew as of 01.00 on September 12, 2021.

The villages under curfew are: Keçili, Ortakapı, Döşkaya, Güven, Karınca, Sarıkonak, Harmanyeri, Esenburun, Direktaşı.

It is learned that the news reports about evacuation of a hotel during the wildfires in Bodrum, published on https://www.birgun.net/ and https://www.sozcu.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Muğla Milas Penal Court of Peace on September 6, 2021.

(09/098) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On September 10, 2021, 9 people are detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally flee abroad and 1 person is detained in Istanbul.

(09/099) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 214 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 23,562 as of September 10, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 259 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 22,923 as of September 11, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 243 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 21,352 as of September 12, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 60,312 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 6,634,643 as of September 12, 2021.

On September 11, 2021, delivery nurse Duygu Ömrüuzun in Gümüşhane lost her life due to Covid-19.

The Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 1209 workers lost their lives due to Covid-19 in the last eighteen months.
