(10/075) Journalist Died in Attack in Istanbul…
On October 12, 2025, it is learned from the news coverage of October 12, 2025 that journalist Hakan Tosun, who has not been heard from since October 10, 2025, was injured in an attack and was hospitalized. It is reported that Tosun, who had a brain hemorrhage and was unconscious, is kept in intensive care unit.
It is learned that Hakan Tosun died on October 13, 2025.
It is also stated in the news reports that 2 people were arrested in connection with the attack.

On October 11, 2025 it is learned from the news coverage of October 11, 2025 that journalist Roni Rubar İmen was detained at a police checkpoint in Cizre district of Şırnak and was subjected to physical violence during detention. Roni Rubar İmen is released by the criminal court of peace on judicial control conditions on October 13, 2025.

Academician Emrah Gülsunar was detained on October 12, 2025 due to a social media post he made. Emrah Gülsunar is arrested by the criminal court of peace on October 13, 2025.
(10/078) Journalist and Other Person on Trial in Ankara…
The trial of the case against journalist Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi through an investigation against Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) started on October 13, 2025 at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 21.
The indictment demands sentence for Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’.
The court decided to lift the judicial control measure of signature requirement and to continue the judicial control measure of ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to February 23, 2026.
Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi were arrested on February 21, 2025 and released on May 30, 2025.
(10/079) Conscientious Objector on Trial…
The final hearing of the case against conscientious objector Kamil Murat Demir, on the grounds of “being a draft evader”, was held at Tunceli 1st Criminal Court of First Instance on October 8, 2025. The court sentenced Kamil Murat Demir to 1 year and 9 months imprisonment and did not grant any reduction or postponement of the sentence on the grounds of his ‘tendency to commit crime’.
(10/080) Person on Trial in Istanbul…
The final trial of the case against a person named N.K., on the grounds of opening a banner and throwing a phone to the President during an opening ceremony in Bağcılar district of Istanbul on April 19, 2025, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 28 on October 7, 2025. The court sentenced N.K. to 4 years and 2 months on the charge of ‘actual assault on the President’ and released N.K. with a ban on leaving the country and a judicial control measure.
N.K. was acquitted in the case on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ related to the same incident at Istanbul Bakırköy 44th Criminal Court of First Instance.
N.K. was arrested on April 21, 2025.
