(11/105) Labour Killings…

On November 12, 2023, the Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 150 workers, including 4 women, 3 children, and 6 migrant workers, died while working in October 2023. 1634 workers, including 100 women, 30 children, and 52 migrant workers, died in labor killings in the first nine months of 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 11, 2023, that 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in the Zap area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (IKBY) in March 2023.

(11/107) Refugee Lost His Life in Zonguldak…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 11, 2023, that Mohammad Nourtani, a refugee from Afghanistan, was found burned with gasoline in a forest area in Zonguldak. It is stated in the news coverage of November 9, 2023, that Mohammad Nourtani, who was reported to be working in a mine in the region, lost his life due to a “work accident” at the mine on November 9, 2023, and then he was carried to a forest area where he was poured gasoline and burned. It is learned that 6 people, including the owner of the mine, were detained in connection with the incident.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 11, 2023, that journalist Alican Uludağ was threatened by the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chair İzzet Ulvi Yönter on social media, saying, “We are breathing down your neck.”

(11/109) HEDEP Executive and Others Detained in Bingöl…

5 people (Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) Solhan District Co-Chair Übeyid Özer, Mazlum Serinyel, Abdurrahman Sav, Şefika Doğan and Alaattin Narinç) among the 18 that were detained in the Genç, Karlıova, and Solhan districts of Bingöl on November 7, 2023, were arrested on the grounds of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’. 13 people were released, 2 of them on judicial control conditions.

A person named Mustafa Atmaca, who was detained in Erzurum on November 11, 2023, on the allegations of insulting Atatürk by saying, “The Ottoman Empire did not lose territory, those dogs who brought secularism lost territory” in a social media post, was arrested by the court on November 11, 2023.

A person named Ahmet Bostancı, who was detained on the allegation of saying, “We left the mosque shouting ‘No prayers for the infidel, alhamdulillah'” on social media after prayers were offered to Atatürk at a mosque in Istanbul, was arrested by the court on November 11, 2023, on the grounds of ‘opposition to the Law on Crimes Committed Against Atatürk’ and ‘publicly degrading the Turkish nation, the State of the Republic of Turkey, the institutions and organs of the state’.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 13, 2023, that Burdur Governorate initiated an administrative investigation into the news reports on the allegation that a “raw meatball party” was organized in a public institution on November 10.

(11/113) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news reports on https://www.yenicaggazetesi.com.tr, https://haberglobal.com.tr, https://www.istiklal.com.tr websites about the explosion at Tosyalı Iron and Steel Factory where 13 workers were injured, and 1 worker lost their life, are banned to access by Hatay İskenderun Penal Court of Peace No 1 on November 10, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 12, 2023, that the Cizre District Governorate of Şırnak banned 2 events, a concert, and a children’s art workshop, within the scope of the Cizre Culture and Art Festival in the Cizre district of Şırnak.

The Governorate of Van made a declaration on November 10, 2023, and announced that all events such as press declarations, sit-ins and polls, opening/setting up tents and stands, organizing petitions, distributing leaflets, brochures, and flyers, and all kinds of protest actions and similar activities are banned for 2 days as of November 11, 2023.

(11/116) Special Security Zones in Şırnak…

On November 11, 2023, the Şırnak Governorate announced that the Cudi Mountain Region, Bestler Dereler Region, Kurt Mountain Region, Kurşin Region, Karaçalı T. Region, Kel Mehmet D. Region, Serin V. Region, 2088 Rk T. Region, Küçük Su Y. Region, Gabar Mountain Region, Altın Dağ Region, İncebel Dağ Region, Oymakaya Region, Tanin Tanin Region were declared as temporary special security zones between November 12, 2023 and November 26, 2023.
