(06/128) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence announced that, 4 soldiers (Ömer Yıldırım, Gökhan Demir, Mehmet Ali Çap, Fuat Özer) died and 4 soldiers got wounded in an attack during the Claw-Lock operation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on June 11, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2022 that, 2 militants died in the clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in the rural areas of Şırnak on May 23, 2022.

(06/129) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2022 that, prisoners in Düzce T Type Prison were subjected to verbal violence of the correction officers during ward searches, and their personal belongings were scattered around.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2022 that, Salih İmin and 1 prisoner whose name is unknown that reject to stand up during roll-calls in Batman T Type Prison were subjected to physical violence of the correction officers.

(06/130) Hunger Strike in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 11, 2022 that, 10 prisoners in Afyon T Type Prison are on hunger strike to demand an end to be forced to stand up during roll-calls and in mouth searches.

(06/131) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on June 10, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 10, 2022, that the appeal made to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by 775 lawyers across Turkey to meet Abdullah Öcalan between June 10 and 17, 2022; to protest the ban on lawyer meetings for Abdullah Öcalan, was not responded.

(06/132) Interventions Against “March to Gemlik” Demonstrations…  

The police intervened the people marching after the press declaration that held in Diyarbakır on June 11, 2022, about the “March to Gemlik” to demand an end to isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and detained 12 people. Detained people are released on June 12, 2022.

It is learned that the vehicles of those who want to go to “March to Gemlik” from Urfa, Diyarbakır and Izmir on June 11, 2022; were blocked by the police and prevented from leaving the cities.

The police intervened the group gathering in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on June 13, 2022 to participate in the “March to Gemlik”; and detained 70 people by using physical violence. It is learned that the lawyers were not allowed to see the detainees and the statements of some detainees were taken without lawyers. 48 people are released after statement procedures while 22 people are still under custody. The names of detained people learned so far are: The Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) co-spokesperson Esengül Demir, HDK executive board member Sedat Şenoğlu, The Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) co-chair Özlem Gümüştaş, ESP executive board member Deniz Aktaş, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul provincial co-chairs İlknur Birol and Ferhat Encü, the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) provincial co-chair Roni Gören, the Revolutionary Party deputy chair Burcugül Çubuk, Mürüvvet Küçük, Nezir Altıntaş, Elif Bulut, Pınar Türk, Erhan Bayrak, Halis Bingöl, Elif Yıldız, Evren Talu, Mehmet Masyan, Aslan Demir, Deniz Aktaş, Aygül Sincar, Ezgi Gürbüz, İsmail Temel, Koray Türkay, Birgül İrin, Aydın Koçuk, Eylem Çelik, Rıdvan Karataş, Ali İpekli, Ünal Yusufoğlu, Ali Emre Ecer, Esra Üşüdür, Suavi Bayrak, Beyza Karayel, Remzi Akbulut, Sinem Yıldırım, Demet Gülüş, Ferhat Yıldırım, Ali Menteşağu, Mehmet Nuri Candan, Songül Alagöz, Ensar Açık, Salih Öner, Mesut Tağu, Mehmet Çelebi, Nevzat Yeziz, Hilal Başak, Hacer Yaşar, Gülden Doğan, Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, Hayrettin Baydar and Orhan Uzuner.

The police intervened the group gathering to participate in the “March to Gemlik” in Bursa on June 13, 2022; and detained 22 people including 1 child, 1 lawyer and 2 journalists (Ergin Çağlar and Rozerin Gültekin). It is learned that the journalists were released the same day. The names of detained people learned so far are: HDP Bursa provincial co-chair Mehmet Dilek, HDP Party Assembly member Cahit Kırkazak, HDP Gemlik district co-chair Siracettin Şeker, HDP Gemlik district executives Hatice Ateş and Metin Özkan.

(06/133) Interventions and Bans on Pride Month Events…

The police used tear gas and rubber bullets to intervene in the Pride March held at the Middle East Technical University campus in Ankara on June 10, 2022 as part of the LGBTIQ+ Pride Month, and detained 38 people by using physical violence. Detainees were released the same day.

Çanakkale Governorate’s Office made a statement on June 11, 2022 and banned all events, meetings and marches to be held between 13-17 June 2022 within the scope of the “Pride Month”.

(06/134) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 10, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(06/135) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the march for the Alternative University Festival organized by students in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on June 11, 2022 and detained at least 20 people by using physical violence.

(06/136) Detained People for Holding a Banner in Eskişehir…

2 people who held a banner reading “We did not forget Ali İsmail Korkmaz” during the graduation ceremony of Anadolu University on June 11, 2022, to remember Ali İsmail Korkmaz who was killed during Gezi Park protests in Eskişehir, were detained by physical violence. Detained people are released on the same day.

(06/137) Detained Human Rights Defender, Association Executives and Other People Through an Istanbul Based Investigation…

On June 3, 2022, 22 people, including Bilal Yıldız, the HRFT Istanbul branch’s social worker, have been detained in house raids in 5 cities through an Istanbul based investigation against the Migration Monitoring Association (GÖÇİZ-DER). 16 of them are arrested by the court on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘financing an illegal organisation’ on June 10, 2022, while 6 of them are released on judicial control conditions.

Arrested people are: Bilal Yıldız, Makbule Altıntaş, Veysi Yıldız, İlyas Erdem, Halit Karahan, Zelal Coşkun, Ramazan Kırkpınar, Cihan Kartal, Songül Köse, İrfan Hülakü, Kamile Kendal, Mehmet Boğakan, Demgül Athan, Kıyasettin Cüheylan, Erhan Örs, Mehmet Baran.

(06/138) Detained Political Party and Association Executives, and Other People in Tekirdağ…

On June 3, 2022, 37 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), the Green Left Party, the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), and the Marmara Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners (MATUHAY-DER) members and executives have been detained through an Tekirdağ based investigation. 10 of them are arrested by the court on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ on June 10, 2022.

Arrested people are: Kenan Yıldız, Arif İsmet Yılmaz, Yakup Aslan, Kerem Tosun, Fisun İşçan, Melahat Çelik, Ercan Ogeday, Alev Ateş, Ceren Karaca.

The number of arrestees through this investigation raised to 29 while 8 people have been released on judicial control conditions.

(06/139) Detained People in Şırnak…

8 of 18 people who have been detained in Şırnak on June 8, 2022 are released by the court on judicial control conditions on June 10, 2022. It is learned that 10 people are still under custody.

(06/140) Kobanê Case…

The trial of the case against 108 members and executives of HDP including former co-chairs, including 21 arrestees, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 22 between May 30 and June 10, 2022.

The court decided to continue detention of 21 people and adjourned the trial to be held between June 27 and July 7, 2022.

(06/141) Former Co-Mayor on Trial in Van…

The trial of the case against HDP Democratic Local Authorities Board member and former Edremit district co-mayor Sevil Rojbin Çetin is held at Van Heavy Penal Court No 2 on June 9, 2022.

The indictment demands sentence for Sevil Rojbin Çetin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

Sevil Rojbin Çetin joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. After defence hearings the court decided to continue detention of Sevil Rojbin Çetin and adjourned the trial to September 8, 2022.

Sevil Rojbin Çetin was detained on June 26, 2020 in Diyarbakır and was arrested on July 7, 2020.

(06/142) Adana Gezi Case…

The final trial of the case against 12 people, for the Gezi Park protests held in Adana in 2013, is held at Adana Heavy Penal Court No 3 on June 10, 2022. The court acquitted 12 people on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The court sentenced 7 people to 2 years and 6 months each on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’.

(06/143) Decision of Non-Prosecution on Correction Officers…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2022, that Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has ruled non-prosecution regarding the criminal complaints made about the torture and other ill-treatment of prisoners in Urfa T Type Prison No 2.

(06/144) HDP Flags Removed by Police in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 12, 2022 that the flags hung by HDP on a street in Şişli district of Istanbul were removed by the police. It is also stated in the news that the police prevented journalists from recording.

(06/145) Ban of Events in Van and Izmir…

Van Governorate made a declaration on June 12, 2022 and announced that, all open-door meetings and demonstrations are banned for 15 days as of June 13, 2022. It is also announced that press declarations, sit-in protests, opening stands and tents, collecting petitions, distributing leaflets and so on will be subjected to the local authority’s permission. All events are banned in Van for 2044 days since November 21, 2016.

It is learned that Izmir Governorate’s Office banned all events such as press declarations, marches, open door and indoor meetings, opening stands and tents, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and so on, and entrance to and exit from the city for those to participate the “March to Gemlik” to be held in Bursa, for 2 days as of January 11, 2022.

(06/146) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 13 people who were detained through an Ankara based investigation and were released afterwards, are detained once again on June 10, 2022 upon objection of the prosecutor’s office.
