(07/073) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment During Detention in Şırnak…

From news reports published on July 12, 2026, it was learned that Mahir Can Ada, who was detained in the Cizre district of Şırnak, was subjected to physical violence inside a police armored vehicle and sustained injuries to various parts of his body. It was reported that no medical report documenting the physical violence Mahir Can Ada suffered was issued at the Cizre State Hospital, where he was taken.

From news reports published on July 11, 2026, it was learned that at the Bolu F-Type Prison, inmates’ rights to outdoor exercise and social interaction were restricted, Kurdish-language publications sent to the prison were not distributed to inmates, and Kurdish-language letters were not delivered on the grounds that there was no interpreter available.

From news reports published on July 11, 2026, it was learned that ill inmates held at Bolu F-Type Prison were not being provided with the medications they needed.

(07/076) Prisoners Whose Release Was Adjourned by the Prison Administration and Observation Board…

According to news reports published on July 11, 2026, two prisoners held at Bolu F-Type Prison who had completed their life sentences— it was learned that Ömer Okul’s release was adjourned for 6 months as of June 24, 2026, and Hüseyin Yıldırım’s release was adjourned for 3 months as of June 17, 2026, by a decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK).

From news reports published on July 11, 2026, a person playing a song by Ahmet Kaya in his shop in Bursa was approached by an unidentified individual who asked, “Where are you from? Are you playing a Kurdish song? I could smash your head against the window, but I won’t—just so you understand the truth. Don’t play this; you’ll lose your livelihood. I’ll tear this shop apart and bury you right here.”

(07/078) Mayor and Others Detained in Ankara…

On July 11, 2026, as part of an investigation into the Ankara Çankaya Municipality, 27 people were detained on charges of “forming a criminal organization,” “membership in a criminal organization,” “bribery,” and “tampering with a tender.” On the same day, Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, who had returned from abroad, was detained at Ankara Esenboğa Airport.

(07/079) City Council Members Detained in Istanbul…

Gencay Özcan and Nazife Aktaş, members of the Bahçelievler Municipal Council in Istanbul, who were detained on July 11, 2026, on the grounds of statements they made regarding the July 15 coup attempt, were released on July 12, 2026, by the on-duty magistrate’s court to which they were referred, subject to judicial supervision.

(07/080) Individuals Detained and Arrested in Hakkari…

Of the eight individuals detained on July 9, 2026, in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari and brought before the magistrate’s court on July 10, 2026, two were arrested on charges of “being a member of an organization” and “spreading organization propaganda,” while six were released on judicial supervision.

(07/081) The Trial of the Mayor in Istanbul…

The trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, which was initiated on the grounds of a statement he made regarding an expert witness in the cases against him, continued on July 13, in the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 2. The indictment seeks to punish Ekrem İmamoğlu for the crimes of “attempting to influence a fair trial” and “attempting to influence those performing judicial duties.” The court adjourned the hearing until December 8, 2026.

(07/082) Individuals on Trial in Istanbul…

The final hearing in the case filed at the Istanbul Anatolia Criminal Court of First Instance No. 77 against three individuals—who were accused of carrying signs reading “Dictator Erdoğan” during protests against the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—was held on July 10, 2026. The court acquitted all three of the charge of insulting the President.

The three individuals in question were detained on April 8, 2025, and released on May 15, 2025.

(07/083) Individuals Detained as Part of an Istanbul-Based Investigation and Those Subject to Detention Orders …

On July 13, 2026, as part of two separate Istanbul-based investigations targeting the organization’s secret and current structures, operations were conducted in 11 provinces (Istanbul, Muğla, Kocaeli, Tekirdağ, Sakarya, Yalova, Elazığ, Ankara, Kahramanmaraş, Bursa, and Gaziantep), resulting in the detention of a total of 78 individuals.

It was reported that on July 13, 2026, detention warrants were issued for a total of 968 people across all 81 provinces in Turkey as part of investigations into the organization’s current and covert structures.
