(06/069) Prisoner Who Lost His Life in Prison…
It is learned from news reports published on June 11, 2026, that a prisoner named Abdullah Yalçın, who was being held at the Urfa Siverek Prison, was found dead in his solitary confinement cell. The reports claim that Abdullah Yalçın committed suicide.
(06/070) Kurdish Students Subjected to a Racist Attack in Ankara…
It was reported that on June 11, 2026, three Kurdish students were attacked at Ankara University’s Cebeci Campus by a racist group reportedly calling itself the “Ülkücü Movement.” It was reported that the students, who were trapped in a lecture hall, were removed from the premises by the police.
News reports indicated that on June 8, 2026, at the same university, four Kurdish students were also attacked by the same group and sustained injuries in various parts of their bodies. It was reported that the university administration had launched a disciplinary investigation into the four students who were attacked.
(06/071) A Child Subjected to a Racist Attack in Giresun…
It was learned from news reports on June 11, 2026, that a child named D.T. (14, f) in the Espiye district of Giresun was subjected to a racist attack by her classmates on June 9, 2026, at the 75th Year Multi-Program Anatolian High School, where she was a student, on the grounds that she was Kurdish, and was injured.
In a statement published in the media, D.T.’s father described the racist attack his daughter endured as follows: “She was subjected to psychological violence with statements like, ‘You’re Kurdish; you can’t study here. This is our state’s territory. We won’t allow this.’ During the attack, my daughter was pushed and, as a result, hit her head on the marble floor near the window. My daughter fainted and was taken to the hospital. The school administration tried to cover up the incident. The classroom teacher called me and said, ‘Your daughter was beaten,’ but did not mention that she was subjected to racism (…) When I went to the hospital, my daughter opened her eyes and said, ‘I was subjected to racism in the classroom; they beat me.’ We learned about this incident at the hospital.”
(06/072) Individuals Detained in Manisa…
On June 10, 2026, as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Cem Yüzer, General Manager of Şehzadeler A.Ş. (a subsidiary of Şehzadeler Municipality in Manisa), and a person named Anıl Demir were detained. The two individuals were arrested on June 11, 2026, by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred, on charges of “bribery” and “membership in a criminal organization for profit.”
(06/073) Indictment Prepared Against the Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Others…
An indictment prepared by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 63 individuals—37 of whom are in prison, including Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey—was accepted by the Bursa Heavy Penal Court No. 2 on June 10, 2026. The indictment seeks the prosecution of the defendants on charges of “establishing and leading an organization for the purpose of committing crimes,” “membership in an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes,” “bribery,” “laundering assets derived from criminal activities,” “causing urban planning violations,” and “unlawful assumption of public office.”
Mustafa Bozbey was arrested on April 4, 2026, and was removed from office by the Ministry of the Interior on the same day.
(06/074) The Trial of a Journalist in Diyarbakır…
The trial of journalist Mehmet Şahin, which was initiated at the Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 5, continued on June 11, 2026. The indictment seeks to punish the journalist for the crime of “being a member of an organization.” The court adjourned the hearing until September 8, 2026.

The final hearing in the case filed against journalist Nisanur Yıldırım at the Istanbul Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance No. 2, following a complaint by the Minister of Culture and Tourism regarding a news report she had written, was held on June 11, 2026. The court acquitted the journalist of the charge of “insulting a public official.”

The trial of Canan Kaplan, Co-Chairperson of the Science, Art, Aesthetics, Education, Culture, and Art Research Foundation (BEKSAV), which was filed at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 25, began on June 11, 2026. The indictment seeks to punish Canan Kaplan for the crime of “being a member of an organization.” The court decided to continue Canan Kaplan’s detention and postponed the hearing to August 6, 2026.
Canan Kaplan had been arrested on February 3, 2026.

The trial of Şahin Tümüklü, former Co-Chair of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), began on June 11, 2026, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26. The indictment seeks to punish Şahin Tümüklü for the crime of “being a member of an organization.” The court ruled to continue Şahin Tümüklü’s detention and postponed the hearing to August 6, 2026.
Şahin Tümüklü had been arrested on February 3, 2026.
(06/078) Trial of a Party Member in Istanbul…
The trial of ESP member Berkan Balcı, which was filed at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13, began on June 11, 2026. The indictment seeks to punish Berkan Balcı for the crime of “being a member of an organization.” The court ruled to continue Berkan Balcı’s detention and postponed the hearing to September 17, 2026.
Berkan Balcı had been arrested on February 3, 2026.
(06/079) Trial of Platform Executives and Members in Istanbul…
The trial of Socialist Women’s Councils (SKM) General Spokesperson Tanya Kara and SKM members Şükran Yaren Tuncer and Azze Deniz Akşar, which was filed at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 27, began on June 10, 2026. The indictment seeks the conviction of the three individuals on charges of “membership in an organization.” The court ordered the release of Tanya Kara and Şükran Yaren Tuncer and adjourned the hearing until November 24, 2026.
Tanya Kara and Şükran Yaren Tuncer were arrested on February 3, 2026. Azze Deniz Akşar, however, is being tried without detention.
(06/080) Television Channels and Platforms Penalized by RTÜK…
It was learned from news reports on June 11, 2026, that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed fines on the Sözcü TV channel for broadcasting a statement by Özgür Özel, the elected Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), regarding the Minister of Justice; on the Halk TV channel for remarks made on the “Para Siyaset” program; ATV for the “Esra Erol’da” program; SHOW TV for the “Didem Arslan Yılmaz’la Vazgeçme” program; STAR TV for the “Nur Viral ile Sen İstersen” program; NOW TV for the “Halef” series; and Kanal D for the “Daha 17” series.
