It is learned from the news coverage of December 9, 2025 that, a prisoner named İshak Dayan was subjected to physical violence by wardens in Burdur High Security Prison, saying “You will see the power of the Turk”, “You will shout ”I am happy to be a Turk“, ”We will kill you”.
(12/044) Police Intervention to a Protest in Tunceli…
On December 9, 2025, the police and private security units intervened the university students who wanted to march after the press declaration about Tunceli Governorate and Tunceli Courthouse being moved to Munzur University campus. It is not known whether anyone was detained during the intervention.

Lawyer Naim Eminoğlu, a member of Contemporary Lawyers Association (ÇHD) and People’s Law Office, was detained during a police raid to People’s Law Office in Istanbul on December 10, 2025. The reason of detention could not be learned.

3 people including poet Oğulcan Kütük were detained on December 9, 2025 through the investigation initiated by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the allegation that audio recordings were taken from the hearing of the trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor and shared on social media; and were released after statement procedures at the prosecutor’s office on the same day.

The trial of the case against former MP Ayla Akat Ata, on the grounds of protests and events she participated in while she was MP, continued on December 9, 2025 at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands sentence for Ayla Akat Ata on the charges of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’, ‘resisting to prevent the execution of duty’, ‘inciting hatred and hostility among people’, ‘damage to public property’. The court adjourned the trial to April 7, 2026.

The trial of the case against Selahattin Demirtaş, former MP and former co-chair of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), on the grounds of his speech at a rally in Batman in 2016, is held at Batman Penal Court of First Instance No 3 on December 9, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Selahattin Demirtaş on the charge of ‘insulting state institutions and security forces’. The court adjourned the trial to April 7, 2026.

The trial of the case against 65 people, including former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer and former Republican People’s Party (CHP) Izmir Provincial Organization Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu, continued on December 9, 2025 at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No. 23. The indictment demands sentence for 65 people on the charge of ‘qualified fraud’. The court released Barış Karcı, decided to continue detention of Tunç Soyer and Heval Savaş Kaya and adjourned the trial to January 5, 2026.

The trial of the case against journalists Tuğçe Yılmaz, Erdoğan Alayumat, Suzan Demir, Taylan Abatan, Gülcan Dereli, Serap Güneş and Berfin Atlı started on December 9, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13.
The indictment demands sentence for 7 people including 5 journalists on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organization’.
The court decided to return the seized digital materials of the journalists, lifted the judicial control measures, lifted the ban on leaving the country and adjourned the trial to February 17, 2025.

The trial of the case against 6 people including journalist Ender İmrek, through the investigation against Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13 on December 10, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for 6 people on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the trial to April 15, 2026.

The final hearing of the retrial of the case against journalist Murat Aksoy on Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 25 was held on December 9, 2025, after the Constitutional Court ruled on the violation of the Constitutional Court’s verdict of 2 years and 1 month imprisonment sentence. The court acquitted Aksoy on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organization’.

The case against 31 people including journalist Sonya Bayık, who were detained in police intervention against the press declaration of HDP Youth Assembly, to protest flooding of Hasankeyf district of Batman on June 12, 2019, is held on Batman Penal Court of First Instance No 1 on December 9, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for 31 people on the charge of ‘violating Law on Demonstrations and Marches No 2911’. The court adjourned the trial to March 3, 2026.

The final trial of the case against Pınar Aydınlar through the investigation against Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 13 on December 9, 2025. The court sentenced Pınar Aydınlar to 6 years and 3 months for ‘’being member of an illegal organization’’.
Pınar Aydınlar was detained on February 18, 2025, arrested on February 21, 2025 and was released at the first hearing of the case on May 13, 2025.
