Mentally retarded Ferhat Kartal (15) was found shot to death on 7 December 2015 nearby his house in Silopi district of Şırnak. Ferhat Kartal was shot with 12 bullets at his chest. He was allegedly shot by patrol police.

Tunahan Öztürk who was serving for compulsory military service in Iğdır Gendarmerie Command allegedly committed suicide during night watch on 7 December 2015. He was registered to Oltu district of Erzurum.

The curfew in Sur district of Diyarbakır where Tahir Elçi was murdered reached its 9th day as of 10 December 2015. A bomb disposal expert police officer was shot on 9 December 2015 and died in the hospital.
3 militants were allegedly killed during the operations conducted on 9 December 2015 in the rural area in the mid of Ömerli, Nusaybin and Midyat district of Mardin.

The curfew in Sur district of Diyarbakır where Tahir Elçi was murdered reached its 9th day as of 10 December 2015. Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Beritan İrlan was shot with a tear gas canister and wounded when s/he was following a group of persons who wanted to march to Sur on 9 December 2015 to protest in the blockade and operations.

The curfew in Abdülkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir quarters of Nusaybin district in Mardin was lifted on 9 December 2015 on the 4th day of the implementation.
(12/065) Killings by Unidentified Assailants Investigations…
According to the news appeared in the press, Chief Public Prosecutor in Ankara started an investigation concerning the killings by unidentified assailants between the tears 2000 and 2013. The Chief Public Prosecutor reportedly investigates the involvement of “Fethullah Terör Örgütü (FETÖ) (Gülenist Terror Organisation)/Paralel Devlet Yapılanması (PDY) (Parallel Structure)”. According to the figures of HRFT, 266 persons were assassinated for political reasons in that period.
The investigation includes the killings of Special Operations Department Chief Behçet Oktay, Didem Yaylalı, Necip Hablemitoğlu, and the attack organised by Alparslan Arslan against the Highest Administrative Court.

According to the news appeared in the press on 9 December 2015, a police officer who testified in connection with the killing of Tahir Elçi revealed that the camera of the police officer who was in charges of recording the public statement was closed during the incident.
Chief Public Prosecutor in Diyarbakır seized all the security camera recordings on the street where Tahir Elçi was murdered.
According to the news, 134 footages including the recordings of 6 media correspondents, post office, security cameras, police departments, and also public sources were gathered for the investigation.

The 3rd indictment prepared in connection with the killing of Hrant Dink was approved by the Chief Public Prosecutor in İstanbul and sent to Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 on 9 December 2015. The indictment was prepared against 26 high-ranked public officers and 2 previous indictments were rejected by the Chief Public Prosecutor.

According to the news appeared in the press on 8 December 2015, mentally retarded prisoner O.İ. (23) incarcerated in Osmaniye T-type Prison No 2 was raped by his cell-mate.

Gaziantep Heavy Penal Court No 2 concluded on 8 December 2015 to hear the case against Ahmet Sansal and Salih Yılmaz launched for going to Kobane for humanitarian aid when the city as besieged by IS/ISIS. After the final defence, the court acquitted the defendants.

A court case was launched on 9 December 2015 against editor-in-chief with the magazine Nokta Cevheri Güven and managing editor of the magazine Murat Çapan. in connection with the cover page of the 24th issue of the magazine. Cevheri Güven and Murat Çapan who were detained during the raid conducted against the premises of the weekly Nokta in İstanbul on 2 November 2015 after the confiscation decision for the 24th issue of the magazine were arrested according to the Article 214 TPC on the allegations of “inciting an armed uprising against the government”.
The indictment wants the editors to be sentenced terms of imprisonment up to 20 years and Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 will start to hear the case on 29 December 2015.

Çağlayan (İstanbul) Penal Court of First Instance No 2 continued on 8 December 2015 to hear the case against Nazlı Ilıcak, columnist with the paper Özgür Düşünce. The case was launched in connection with the expression she used in a column published in another paper against the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced according to the Article 125 TPC for “insulting public officer”. Since Nazlı Ilıcak did not appear, the court decided her to be taken forcibly to the next hearing and adjourned the hearing to a later date.
(12/072) Persons Convicted for Insulting the State President…
Çeşme (İzmir) Penal Court of First Instance No 1 concluded on 8 December 2015 to hear the case against 4 persons launched on the allegations of “insulting State President” with the posts on social media.
The court sentenced the defendants G.K. (43), İ.A.K. (34), S.K. (56) and Ş.K. to 10 months’ imprisonment and reprieved the sentences for 5 years.
(12/073) Students on Trial in İstanbul…
İstanbul Penal Curt of First Instance No 38 started on 9 December 2015 to hear the case against 28 university students who were detained in front of İstanbul Security Directorate while waiting for their friends detained in İstanbul University campus. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.
The students testified at the hearing to the effect that they did not stage any demonstration, but they were waiting for their friends who were announced by the lawyers to be released.
The students also added that the police guided them to enter the tax office to take shelter when the Security Directorate attacked and the tax office was raided by the masked police officers after a while. The students were threatened by the police and detained under beatings.
The court exempted the students from attending the hearing and adjourned the hearing to 23 March 2016.
(12/074) Newroz Celebrations…
Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued to hear the case against 49 Mersin University students launched in connection with the Newroz celebrations on 21 March 2015 in the university campus. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “being member of an illegal organisation” and “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.
All the defendants were present at the hearing. After the identification, 15 students testified at the hearing.
The court adjourned the hearing to 28 March 2015 for the completion of testimonies.
(12/075) Demonstrators on Trial in Mersin…
Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 1 started on 9 December 2015 to hear the case against GENÇ-Sen members Umut Çevik and Ezgi Harbelioğlu, and 4 persons. Umut Çevik and Ezgi Harbelioğlu were remanded in this trial. The case was launched after a demonstration staged in Mersin to protest in the government’s decision for not allowing Aziz Güler’ body to be taken by his family on Rojava border for funeral. Aziz Güler was killed while fighting against IS/ISIS in Rojava region of Syria.
The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for being member of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan Liberation Organisation (Türkiye ve Kuzey Kürdistan Kurtuluş Örgütü – TKKKÖ) which was dissolved 40 years ago. After the identification and testimonies of the defendants, the court decided to release remanded defendants to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 15 March 2015.

Zafer Macit who was among 7 members of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) detained in Bursa on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” was arrested on 9 December 2015 on the grounds that his conviction in another case was approved.
M.Y. (17) was detained on 9 December 2015 in a public park in Dargeçit district of Mardin. The reason of detention was not disclosed
