(09/001) People Died in Van…
It is learned that 2 people in a house died as a result of the fire opened during the operation of the security forces in the rural neighbourhood of Çamurlu in Özalp district of Van on September 1, 2023. The identity of the two people who died was not disclosed.
It is learned that 2 people (Ömer Kılıççeken and Sami Kılıççeken) in the same neighbourhood were detained and taken to the District Gendarmerie Command.
It is reported that the delegation consisting of the Green Left Party (YSP) Van deputies, and members of the Van Bar Association, the Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD), and Human Rights Association (IHD) branch, who went to the region following the incident, were not allowed to enter the neighbourhood by the soldiers on the grounds of ‘operation’.

It is learned that a 12-year-old child whose named could not be learned was injured after being hit by an armoured police vehicle in Şırnak on August 31, 2023.
(09/003) Abducted YSP Member in Istanbul…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 1, 2023 that, the YSP Youth Assembly member Doğukan Yen was abducted by 2 people claiming to be police officers and forcibly putting him in a car in Ataşehir district of Istanbul on August 25, 2023. Doğukan Yen was subjected to threats during his time in the car and was released on the same day.
(09/004) Detained Person in Istanbul…
78’ers Initiative spokesperson Celalettin Can, who was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months the grounds of participating in the one-day editor-in-chief campaign to show solidarity with Özgür Gündem newspaper, which was closed by a state of emergency decree, was detained at Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on August 31, 2023. Celalettin Can was taken to Istanbul Metris T Type Prison No. 1 on the same day.
(09/005) Disciplinary Investigations Against Academics…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 1, 2023, the academics who participated in the vigil which has been held every day since January 4, 2021, to protest the rector appointed by the President, were subjected to disciplinary proceedings of the Rectorate on the grounds that “the protests were against the law” and were “disrupting the functioning of the university”. It could not be learned how many academics were subjected to disciplinary investigations.

On August 31, 2023, 1 person was detained in Muğla.
