(09/001) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 1, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in the Qandil area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on May 18, 2022.

(09/002) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of August 31, 2022 that, Rehyan Abidi, a Syrian citizen who was arrested with her 2 months-old baby in Istanbul on August 30, 2022; was being kept in a stuffy and humid room and was given only 1 bottle of water a day.

(09/003) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 1, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

(09/004) 1 Preventions and Interventions Against 1 September International Day of Peace Events…

The police intervened in the press declaration for the 1 September International Day of Peace, held outside of Dolmabahçe Palace in Beşiktaş district of Istanbul on September 1, 2022; and detained 3 members of Peace Mothers (Bedia Gökgüz, Zeliha Gökgüz and Şükran Tuga).

(09/005) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on August 31, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(09/006) People Subjected to Torture and Il-Treatment of Police in Istanbul…

It is learned that the police raided the house to be demolished by the municipality in Tokatköy neighbourhood of Beykoz district of Istanbul in the early morning on September 1, 2022 and the residents were taken out by police force. It is reported that at least 8 people who opposed the police intervention were detained by using physical violence. The names of detainees are unknown. It is also learned that the police used rubber bullets and pepper spray to intervene in the people who climbed on the roofs of the buildings to prevent demolitions; and forced the journalists away from the area by using physical violence.

(09/007) Detained People in Erzurum…

It is learned that 3 people (Rabia Yalavuz, Adil Attik and Ramazan Karakaş) are detained in house raids in Hınıs district of Erzurum on September 1, 2022. The reason for detention is unknown.

(09/008) Journalist on Trial in Bursa…

The indictment of Bursa Public Prosecutor’s Office against Mezopotamya News Agency reporter Ergin Çağlar, who has been detained in the police intervention against the Gemlik March organized to protest the isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan is accepted by Bursa Penal Court of First Instance No. 29 on August 31, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Ergin Çağlar on the charge of violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations. The first trial will be held on December 6, 2022.

(09/009) Journalist on Trial in Bursa…

The indictment of Bursa Public Prosecutor’s Office against Jinnews Agency reporter Rozerin Gültekin, who has been detained in the police intervention against the Gemlik March organized to protest the isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan is accepted by Bursa Penal Court of First Instance on August 31, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Rozerin Gültekin on the charge of violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations. The first trial will be held on October 25, 2022.

(09/010) Istanbul Municipality Executive on Trial…

The indictment of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Yavuz Saltık, the Head of Local Authorities’ Office of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, on the charge of “knowingly and willingly aiding an illegal organization without being a member of it” was accepted by the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 14 on August 31, 2022.

(09/011) Investigation Against Academician…

It is learned that an investigation is launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against Professor Celal Şengör on the charge of “publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a section of the public” by his words in a television program.

(09/012) Ban of Concert in Mardin…

The concert of musician İlkay Akkaya which was to be held in Mardin on September 24, 2022, is banned by the Governorate’s Office on August 31, 2022.

(09/013) Ban of Events in Mardin and Hakkari…

Mardin Governorate’s Office made a declaration on August 31, 2022 and announced that all open-door and indoor meetings, press declarations, sit-in protests, opening stands, collecting petitions, distributing leaflets and so on are banned for 15 days as of September 1, 2022. All events are banned in Mardin for 1064 days since October 17, 2019.

Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on August 31, 2022 and announced that all meetings, open-door assemblies, demonstrations, marches, sit-in protests, human chains, op-ed stands, public sessions, any kind of audio-visual activities with mobile audio-visual vehicles, hunger strikes, opening stands, collecting petitions, flying sky lanterns or balloons, commemorations, concerts, festivals, theatre plays, screening shows, firing torches, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and so on are banned for 15 days as of September 1, 2022. All events are banned in Mardin for 254 days since January 4, 2022.
