(10/001) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 30, 2021 that, 1 militant died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in rural areas of Diyarbakır on May 17, 2021; and 2 militants in a clash on April 29, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 30, 2021 that, Abdulbaki Taşdemir, a civilian died in an armoured attack in Duru village of Lice district of Diyarbakır on September 16, 2021 and HPG took responsibility for the attack.

(10/002) Racist Attack in Izmir…

On September 30, 2021, a racist group of 150 people attacked on houses and workplaces of Syrian asylum seekers, after the fight where a person (Batuhan Parlak) lost his life in Torbalı district of Izmir. It is learned that a house and a junk carrying carts of the asylum seekers were burned down, and some houses were stoned; it is unknown if anybody was injured in the attack.

(10/003) Discriminative Decision of Fatih Municipality in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 30, 2021 that, foreigners living in Fatih district of Istanbul, including those with residence permit, cannot rent a house since the beginning of this year, according to the ban decision of the municipality. Fatih district mayor stated the following: “A foreigner who is permitted to live in Istanbul, who has a residence permit, Syrian or from any other country, cannot rent a house in Fatih.”

(10/004) Prevention of Right to Health in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 29, 2021 that, Hamdullah Zengin, who was wounded when captured, and who is being kept in Kırıkkale F Type Prison, was not being treated, and has still two bullets in his arm.

(10/005) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 30, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit him was not responded.

(10/006) Detained People in Samsun…

19 people have been detained for the protests against land consolidation decision, in front of municipality building in Vezirköprü district of Samsun. 2 of them (Ismail Bayrak and Ömür Öztürk) are arrested by the court on September 30, 2021. It is learned that 6 people are released while 11 people are still under custody.

(10/007) Detained Person in Mardin…

On September 30, 2021, 1 person (Azat Sülüm) is detained in a house raid in Nusaybin district of Mardin. The reason of detention is unknown.

(10/008) Özgür Gündem Case…

On November 3, 2020, the Penal Department No 3 of Istanbul Regional Court has reversed the verdict of acquittal of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Turkey representative Erol Önderoğlu, writer Ahmet Nesin and Human Rights Foundation of Turkey chair and Turkish Medical Association (TTB) chair Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı, in the “Özgür Gündem case”. On July 17, 2019, Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13 have acquitted Erol Önderoğlu, Ahmet Nesin and Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı who were on trial for participating in “Editors in Chief on Watch” campaign to support Özgür Gündem newspaper which was closed down by a state of emergency decree.

The retrial of the case is held on September 30, 2021. The court decided to send a writ for Ahmet Nesin’s official statement, to hear executive editor İnan Kızılkaya as a witness and adjourned the trial to February 1, 2022.

(10/009) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against journalist Abdurrahman Gök who has captured the moment Kemal Kürküt was killed by police officers at the Newroz celebration in Diyarbakır in 2017, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 30, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for Abdurrahman Gök on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, for his social media posts and journalism.

It is learned that the prosecutor demanded to file criminal reports against Abdurrahman Gök, for two other photographs that are not included in the case files. The court accepted the prosecutor’s demand and adjourned the trial to January 20, 2022.

(10/010) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against Eren Tutel, sports editor of Birgün newspaper, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on September 30, 2021. Following the news reports of Eren Tutel, about the infractions and the national Wushu Federation; the chair of the federation and his daughter have filed a criminal complaint against him.

Eren Tutel attended the trial and made his defence. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to February 1, 2022.

(10/011) Journalists and Other People on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 38 people including Etkin News Agency reporter Tunahan Turhan and Özgü Gelecek newspaper reporter Taylan Öztaş, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 13 on September 30, 2021. 38 people are on trial for participating in the protests against trustee appointments to municipalities, in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on August 22, 2019. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to September March 8, 2022.

(10/012) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 216 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 29,104 as of September 30, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 64,480 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,129,462 as of September 30, 2021.

On September 30, 2021, doctor Atilla Namaraslı lost his life due to Covid-19 in Antalya.
