(03/001) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Custody…
Hayati Yidiz, an employee of daily Azadiya Welat which was closed down by A Decre with the Force of Law, was detained on 17 February 2017 in Diyarbakır. According to the news appeared in press, Yildiz subjected to torture in custody. Although his right cheekbone was fractured, he was not taken to hospital; instead a doctor was brought to police station. Yıldiz’s photos of torture were in press.
(03/002) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Prison…
According to the news appeared in press, administration of Edirne F Type Prison make pressure on prisoners to re take their fingerprints and their photos, even though they were taken when prisoners were first transfer to the prison. Prisoners, who do not accept this because no explanation was made to them, are beaten. Prisoners whose fingerprints are taken forcibly face injuries, such as bruises and fractures.
Besides of this, the prison administration, reportedly, seize the poems, stories etc. which were written by the prisoners.
(03/003) Hunger Strike in Prison…
The hunger strike in Sakran Prison reaches its 15th day on 1 March 2017.
6 prisoners in Edirne F Type prison started hunger strike on 27 February 2017 to protest the arbitrary practices of the prison administration.
Prisoners in Siirt Prison started a 3 day hunger strike on 1 March 2017 to protest the transfers and violations of rights.
(03/004) Blockade in Korukoy Village…
5 persons, who were detained in Korukoy village of Nusaybin following the curfew declared on 11 Şubat 2017, were taken to court on 27 February 2017. 3 of them were arrested for ‘helping harboring an illegal organization.’ Names of the persons who were arrested are as follows: Vasfi Doğan, İsmail Ay ve Mecit Bal.
(03/005) Detentions and Arrests…
12 persons, who were detained on 12 February 2017 in Antalya, were taken to court. 11 of them were arrested for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ Names which could be reached are as follows: Evin Aslı Çakır, Vedat Kıran, Özkan Aslan, Muhammed Karadağ, Vedat Öztunç, Sercan Yanık, Murat Altundağ, Veli Sefkan.
9 persons who were detained on 15 February 2017 in Manisa were arrested for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ Names which could be reached are as follows: Mehmet Ali Cengiz, Selahattin Dağlı, Berfin Çelebi, Mustafa Günhan, Mehmet Gülmez, Mehmet Duran, Berivan Adlım, Enver Baykurt and Celal Aydın.
9 persons, who were detained in connection with the bomb attack against the Adana Governorate, were taken to court. 6 of them were arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘helping and harboring an illegal organization.’
8 persons, who were detained on 18 February in Mersin, were taken to court. 6 of them were arrested for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’
9 persons, who were detained on 15 February 2017 in Antalya, were taken to court. 6 of them were arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’
A high school student F.Y. was detained on 28 February 2017 in Antep Police Headquarter when he went there to give testimony. F.Y. was taken to court on the same day and was released with a judicial control condition.
Socialist Party of the Oppressed Chair for Antep was detained on 28 February 2017 and was released by the court with a ban on leaving the country.

Police intervened on 28 February 2017 to university students who were protesting the fight on the other day (27 February 2017) in the Beyazıt Campus of Istanbul University. 23 students were, reportedly, detained.
(03/007) Sibel Capraz Case…
Yuksekova Heavy Penal Court continued on 28 February 2017 the case against Hakkari Province General Assembly member Sibel Capraz. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for “being a member of illegal organziation’ and ‘inciting people to hatred and enmity.’ Capraz participated the hearing via SEGBİS. After the defenses, court released Capraz with a home confinement condition.
Sibel Capraz was heaviliy injured on November 2015 in Yuksekova during a clash. She was deained while her treatment was still going on and arrested. Because of her injury, Capraz lives with her intestines out of her body, she cannot use one of her arms and she had 15 operations.
(03/008) Persons on Trial for Roboski Commemoration
Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 3 continued on 1 March 2017 continued on 1 March 2017 the case against Yıldız Bahçeci, Münübe Koç, Yasemin İldan, Perihan Pulat, Bülent Teoman, Tayland Altünay and Zinnet Turan. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations because they had participated Roboski Massecre Commemoration on 28 December 2015 in Ankara. In hearing, 5 police official testified. The defendant lawyer made a complaint against police officials who had signed an incident report even though there was no intervention. The court overruled this and adjourned the hearing to 8 June 2017 for the testimonies of other police officials.
(03/009) Diyarbakır 5 June Case…
Sincan West Court House Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 27 February 2017 the case about the bomb attack to the HDP rally in Diyarbakır on 5 June 2015. In hearing the complainants and the witnesses testified. 2 complainants participated the hearing via SEGBİS. They declared that they would testify in Kurdish. They could not they testify because there were no translator ready in the hearing. Court did not release the defendants and adjourned the hearing to 25 April 2017.
(03/010) 3rd KCK/TM Main Trial in Istanbul…
İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against 46 journalists and press employees. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘managing an illegal organization’ and ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’ Prosecutor demanded the file case to prepare the final opinion. Court adjourned the hearing to 20 June 2017.

Van Heavy Penal Court No 4 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against journalist Arif Aslan. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ After the defenses, the court sentenced Aslan to 1 year and 3 months imprisonment and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

Van Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against 8 defendants including Edem Mühirci, Van correspondent of DİHA which was closed down by a Decree with the Force of Law. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’ After the defenses, the court released Mühirci to be tired without a remand and adjourned the hearing.

Diyarbakir Heavy Penal Court No 4 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against Ismail Eskin. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’ in the news he had covered and in his social media shares. After the defenses the court adjourned the hearing to March 2017.
(03/014) Trade Unionist on Trial for ‘Insulting the Head of State’…
Corum Penal Court of First Instance No 4 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against Chair of Trade Union of Office Employees (BES) Corum Branch Ertugrul Alper. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘insulting the Head of State.’ Alper had said “Erdogan dictatorship.” After the defenses court acquitted the defendant. In the verdict the court considered the phrase dictatorship within the limits of criticism and did not regard it as humiliating and degrading.

Diyarbakir Heavy Penal Court No 4 continued on 28 February 2017 the case against KJA Voice Person Ayla Akat Ata. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’ in the articles published in journal KJA. Ata is the owner of the journal. Ata did not participate the hearing. Court adjourned the hearing to May 2017.

Diyarbakir Heavy Penal Court No 8 had given a decision of non-jurisdiction in the case against Vice Co-Chair of HDP Aysel Tugluk. The court had sent the case to Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 18. Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 18 sent the case to Supreme Court of Appeals for the determination of the place of trial.
The indictment want the defendant to be sentenced for ‘founding and managing an illegal organization’ because of her activities in DTK.

Kandil and its surrounding were, reportedly, bombed by Turkish Air Forces.
