(07/001) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 30, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces and HPG units in the rural areas of Siirt on June 20, 2022.

(07/002) Abducted Person in Izmir…

It is learned that a person named S. O was abducted on June 30, 2022 at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport by people who introduced themselves as intelligence officers and was released on the same day. It is learned that S. O. had been subjected to torture and other ill-treatment and forced to be a police informant.

The lawyer of S. O. stated the following to the press: “S. O. was detained by people who introduced themselves as intelligence officers. He was tortured for about 11 to 15 hours. My client was taken to various cemeteries and subjected to torture and inhumane practices. During the torture, he was forced to be an informant and was subjected to death threats against his family. His phone was confiscated. He was then left at the Akçaköy stop in the Menderes district, close to 02:00 at night.”

(07/003) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Siirt…

It is learned that a person named Welat İnan was subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the police on the street in Siirt on June 30, 2022 and was injured in various parts of his body.

(07/004) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on July 1, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

(07/005) Police Intervention to Campaign Stand in Kocaeli…

It is learned that the police intervened the campaign stand for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) congress in Gebze district of Kocaeli on June 30, 2022 and detained 6 members. Detained people are released on the same day.

(07/006) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 30, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(07/007) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Ankara on June 30, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

(07/008) Police Prevention to Protests in Ankara…

The police prevented the press declaration regarding the reliability of the inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), organized by the members of Community Centres in front of the building in Ankara on July 1, 2022.

The police prevented the press declaration for the same cause, organized by the Confederation of Public Employees’ Unions (KESK) at the same place.

(07/009) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against journalist Barış Terkoğlu, with a request for compensation of 200,000 Turkish Liras upon the complaint of Serhat Albayrak, the brother of former Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, is held at Istanbul Commercial Court of First Instance No 7. On July 1, 2022. The court decided to reject the compensation claim.

(07/010) Lawyers on Trial in Ankara…

The trial of the case against 19 lawyers, for holding a press declaration to protest the October 10 Ankara Massacre, in front of Istanbul Courthouse on October 12, 2015; is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13. on June 13, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for the lawyers on the charges of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and “making propaganda for an illegal organisation”. The court adjourned the trail to October 27, 2022.

(07/011) People on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 30 people who were detained during the protests against the rector appointed to Boğaziçi University by the President, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 48. on July 30, 2022. The court adjourned the trial to November 18, 2022.

(07/012) Dedeoğulları Case…

The trial of the case against 9 people including 2 arrestees, about the racist attack against Dedeoğulları family on May 12, 2021 where 7 family members got wounded, is held at Konya Heavy Penal Court No 8 on July 1, 2022.

The indictment demands sentence for the defendants on the charges of ‘intentional injury’, ‘intentional injury with weapons’ and ‘violation of immunity of residence’.

The court decided to continue detention of 2 arrestees and refused to arrest other defendants and adjourned the trial to September 16, 2022.

(07/013) Yılmaz Öztürk Case…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 30, 2022, that the 10-year prison sentence given to police officer Yasin Hiyılmaz in the case regarding the death of Yılmaz Öztürk (20) on February 20, 2016 in the Küçükarmutlu neighbourhood of Sarıyer district of Istanbul, as a result of the fire opened by the police, is approved by the Penal Department No. 1 of the Court of Cassation.

(07/014) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…

After the Constitutional Court ruled that journalist Gökhan Biçici was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment by the police while following the news during the Gezi protests in 2013, the first trial against the responsible police officers at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 48 on July 1, 2022. The prosecutor demanded the dismissal of the case, due to the statute of limitations, and Gökhan Biçici’s lawyers demanded that the court should decide non-jurisdiction on the grounds that the criminal act was not “simple injury” but “torture” and that the case file should be sent to the heavy penal court on duty. The court adjourned the trial to September 13, 2022.

(07/015) Ban of Access to Websites and Web Contents…

It is learned that the content regarding the ban of access to news reports about the President’s lawyer, published on https://ifade.org.tr/ website is banned to access on the grounds of “violation of personal rights”, by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No. 6 on June 29, 2022.

It is learned that the websites of the USA-based Voice of America and Germany-based Deutsche Welle (DW) are banned to access by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No 1. on June 30, 2022 upon the application of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK).

(07/016) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 16 people are detained in operations covering 11 cities through an Ankara based investigation on July 1, 2022.

(07/017) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against İlhan Karagöz is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 22 on July 1, 2022. The court sentenced the defendant to 13 years and 6 months on the charge of “being an illegal organisation member”.
