(12/001) Operations and Attacks…
The Ministry of National Defence announced that 1 soldier (Nedim Korkmaz) died in a clash during the “Claw-Lock” military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces into the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on November 30, 2022.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 1, 2022 that, 1 militant died in a clash between the Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Metina area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on August 2, 2022.
(12/002) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Ankara…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 1, 2022 that 18 people who were detained in Diyarbakır, İstanbul, Muş, Ağrı, Siirt and Antep through an Ankara based investigation against Tevgera Jinên Azad – Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists were taken to Ankara in handcuffs and were not given food and water.
It is also learned that Figen Ekti, one of the detainees was subjected to physical violence of the police at Ankara Provincial Directorate of Security.
Detained people are: Figen Ekti, Mekiye Ormancı, Didar Çeşme, Zekiye Güler, Bedia Akkaya, Figen Aras, Sultan Esen, Hatice Güngör, Meral Şimşek, Zeynep Boğa, Pınar Ceylan, Yeliz Ayyıldız Kıyak, Hülya Kınağu, D.A., Merve Tekin Demirel, Hazal Aras, Aysel Ceylan and Beritan Canyaş.
(12/003) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, 4 prisoners including the Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation (SGDF) central executive board member Müslüm Koyun who was arrested and then put in Eskişehir H Type Prison were subjected to strip search at the entrance of prison.
It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, Fadullah Kamış, a prisoner who had participated in the hunger strike to demand an end to right violations in Erzurum Dumlu High Security prison was transferred to Elazığ High Security Prison under coercion.
It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, prisoners were kept in single cells and were taken out to open air area for one and a half an hour a day in Ankara Sincan High Security Prison No. 1.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 1, 2022 that, the application of Asrın Law Office for Veysi Ateş, who is in Imralı Prison with the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, to be allowed for his father’s funeral was not responded.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, İhsan Uğur, a prisoner in Diyarbakır F Type Prison who was taken to hospital, was taken back to the prison without being treated, on the grounds that he spoke Kurdish with someone there.
It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, the prisoners who were taken to infirmary in Ankara Sincan High Security Prison No. 1 were given medication without being examined, the ill prisoners were not referred to hospitals and a prisoner with diabetes were not given proper dietary food and the infirmary doctor says “sleep and you will get better” to some prisoners.
It is learned from the news coverage of November 30, 2022 that, Mukadder Alakuş, an ill prisoner in Eskişehir Prison could not have the surgery that she had to.

It is learned that the appeal made on December 1, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.
(12/006) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police intervened against the Uyghurs holding a justice watch protest on November 30, 2022 in front of the Chinese Consulate in Istanbul on November 30, 2022, regarding the death of 10 people according to official statements, in a building fire in the city of Urumqi in the Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. It is learned that during the intervention, the police threatened the protesters by saying, “Detain them, we will deport you”. It is reported that a press declaration was held in front of the Chinese Consulate upon prevention.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Edremit district co-chair Sultan Karasu who was detained through a Balıkesir based investigation on November 27, 2022, is arrested by the court on November 30, 2022.
(12/008) Detained People in Manisa…
10 people who were detained in Manisa on November 28, 2022 through an investigation about the Newroz celebration in the city, are released by the court on November 30, 2022. 7 people who were detained through the same investigation were released on November 28, 2022 after the statement procedures.

On November 30, 2022, 2 people are detained on the grounds of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ in house raids in Mersin.
(12/010) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…
The final trial of the case against 3 police officers (K. A., N. D. and Y. Ş.) on the grounds of committing violence to journalist Beyza Kural while she was reporting on an incident, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 35 on December 1, 2022.
The Constitutional Court decided on Beyza Kural’s individual appeal on February 18, 2021 and ruled that ban of treatment against human dignity, and freedom of expression and freedom of press were violated. The court has also ruled that an investigation should be carried on in order to end the results and 15,000 Turkish Liras should be paid to Beyza Kural as immaterial compensation.
The court sentenced the defendant police officers to a penalty fine of 6,000 Turkish Liras each on the charge of ‘violation of freedom of work and labour’ which will be paid in ten instalments.
(12/011) Journalist on Trial in Batman…
The final trial of the case against 31 people including journalist Engin Eren, who were detained by the police intervening in the protest against military operations held on September 18, 2015 in Batman; is held at Batman Heavy Penal Court No. 2 on November 30, 2022. The court sentenced Engin Eren and 28 others to 3 years 1 month and 15 days each on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’ and sentenced 2 others to 6 years and 3 months each on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

The final trial of the case against journalist Zübeyde Sarı, on the grounds of social media posts, is held at Istanbul Bakırköy Penal Court of First Instance No. 24 on December 1, 2022. The court acquitted Zübeyde Sarı.
(12/013) Ban of Access to Web Contents…
It is learned that e-commerce platforms https://www.nadirkitap.com and https://www.kitantik.com are banned to access by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 10 on the grounds of ‘violation of personal rights’ on November 30, 2022, upon the request of the Ministry of Justice on the grounds that “books belonging to the Ministry of Justice are offered for sale”. It is learned from the news coverage of December 1, 2022 that the ban decision was annulled on the grounds that it was taken inadvertently.
