(09/001) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…
Former headman of Kale quarter in Cizre district of Şırnak province Mehmet Zeki Macartay (46) who was organised an armed attack on 10 August 2016 in front of his house died in Batman regional State Hospital. YPS made an announcement on 1 September 2016 and claimed the attack. YPS announced that the attack was organised on the allegations that Mehmet Zeki Macartay was acting in collaboration with the governmental authorities.
PKK militants closed a road in Şemdinli district of Hakkari and abducted Menderes Özer, son of former Chairperson of Village Guards Association Mehmet Emin Özer. The body of Menderes Özer was found on 1 September 2016 nearby Çatalca village.
Nevzat Paçacı who was abducted by PKK militants on 15 August 2016 in Aysaklı village of Adklı district in Bingöl was allegedly killed on 2 September 2016.
Military operations were started to be conducted in the rural area of Çukurca district in Hakkari. 1 soldier was killed and 10 soldiers were wounded during the armed clashes that broke out on 1 September 2016 during the operations.
4 soldiers were also wounded during the clashes on 2 September 2016 in the same region.
7 soldiers were reportedly killed and 20 soldiers were wounded on 3 September 2016.
2soldiers were reportedly killed during armed clashes that broke out on 5 September 2016 in the same region of Hakkari.
2 soldiers were wounded during an explosion on 1 September 2016 nearby Yeşilmezra village of Tatvan district in Bitlis.
1 soldier and 1 temporary village guard on 1 September 2016, 2 temporary village guards on 2 September 2016 were killed during the intensive armed clashes nearby Tendürek Mountain in Çaldıran district of Van. 14 soldiers and 4 temporary village guards were also wounded during the clashes.
8 soldiers and 1 temporary village guard, 13 militants were reportedly killed during the clashes on the night of 2 September 2016 in the same region. 8 soldiers were also wounded during the clashes.
1 police officer was killed and 3 police officers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 21 August 2016 during the passage of an armoured vehicle in Viranşehir district of Şanlıurfa. 1 wounded police officer also died on 2 September 2016 in the hospital.
3 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 2 September 2016 nearby Cudi Mountain in Şırnak.
2 militants were allegedly killed during an armed clash on 2 September 2016 in the region between Çiçekli and Demirkapı villages of Tunceli.
2 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 2 September 2016 during the passage of a military vehicle in Silvan district of Diyarbakır.
4 soldiers were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 2 September 2016 in Hasköy district of Muş.
1 militant was reportedly killed during an armed clash on 19 August 2016 on Uluvahta highlands of Gölköy district in Ordu.
5 soldiers were killed and 6 soldiers were wounded when a military troop was attacked on 3 September 2016 in Aktütün region of Şemdinli district in Hakkari.
2 soldiers and 1 temporary village guard, 2 militants were killed when a control point was attacked on 2 September 2016 in Dargeçit district of Mardin and an armed clash was broke out following the attack. 1 soldier, 2 temporary village guards and 1 civilian were also wounded during the incident.
3 soldiers were wounded when a land mine exploded on 3 September 2016 in the rural area of Şemdinli district in Hakkari.
Night watchman Ercan Gültekin (26) was killed during an armed attack on 1 September 2016 in Kızıltepe district of Mardin.
1 civilian was killed and 1 civilian was wounded when bomb exploded on 31 August 2016 on Hakkari-Çukurca road during the passage of a military convoy.
1 soldier was killed and 1 soldier was wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 1 September 2016 nearby Doğan village of Pervari district in Siirt.
The bodies of YPS members Cuma Keleş, Ömer Kendalci, Çiğdem İldan (Jiyan Şer) (35), and HPG militant Mervan Kaya (Hayri Durmuş) who were killed during the curfew in Sur district of Diyarbakır were identified on 1 September 2016.
A military vehicle was opened fire on 5 September 2016 in Çukurca district of Hakkari. The driver of the vehicle Davut Akdemir was wounded during the attack.
(09/002) Racist Murder in İstanbul…
According to the news appeared in the press on 1 September 2016, Kurdish worker Mehmet Aytaç (36) was set to fire and killed by his roommate M.A. in construction site of 3rd airport in Eyüp district of İstanbul.
Mehmet Aytaç reportedly had a dispute with his roommate and M.A. set him to fire while he was sleeping. Mehmet Aytaç was registered to Ergani district of Diyarbakır.
Mehmet Aytaç’s big brother Suphi Aytaç made a statement in connection with the incident and announced that his brother said him on a phone call 2 weeks ago that he had problems with other workers for being Kurdish.
Suphi Aytaç also added that other worker locked him in the room after setting him to fire while sleeping.
According to the news appeared in the press, following the killing the subcontractor released an inner notification on 31 August 2016 demanding the workers to abstain from similar incidents in order not to damage the reputation of the project.

According to the news appeared in the press on 1 September 2016, Mustafa Akal who was suffering from schizophrenia and was under pre-trial detention in İstanbul for killing his mother and a neighbour in İstanbul committed suicide in the prison.

Singer Atilla Taş, journalists Murat Aksoy and Mutlu Çölgeçen, National Party (Ulusal Parti) President Gökçe Fırat Çulhaoğlu who were among 12 persons detained in several provinces in connection with a “Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” investigation were arrested on 3 September 2016.

Ömer Çubuklu who was among 5 prison guards arrested on 31 August 2016 in connection with a “Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” investigation allegedly committed suicide on 1 September 2016 by hanging himself in the cell he was temporarily kept in Kırıklar F-type Prison No 2.

The police conducted house raids on 5 September 2016 in Karaçoban district of Erzurum and detained 40 persons including Human Rights Association (HRA) executive Yavuz Karabudak.
4 persons who were among 8 persons detained during house raids in Kızıltepe district of Mardin were arrested on 31 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
Silopi Deputy Mayor Ahmet Toloğ, Fidan Nayır and Mazhar Metin who were detained in Silopi district of Şırnak were arrested on 3 September 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Sebahattin Koyuncu who was detained during a house raid in Silopi district of Şırnak was arrested on 1 September 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” relying on the social media posts and news reported.
Bitlis Co-Vice-Mayor Orhan Arıkbaşlı was arrested on 1 September 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs for Doğubayazıt district in Ağrı province Hamide Turan and Abdullah Ekelik were arrested on 5 September 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Linguist and writer Necmiye Alpay (70) who was detained in connection with the investigation started following the temporary closure of the daily Özgür Gündem on 16 August 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” was arrested on 31 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.
(09/008) Operations on Rojava Border…
While the cross-border operation of Turkish Armed Forces in Jarabulus region of northern Aleppo in Syria was on-going, a wall was started to be constructed on Syrian border.
A protest action on border in Kobané province of Rojava was staged on 2 September 2016 against the wall. Turkish troops used fire arms and tear gas to disperse the protesters. Ehmed Cima (19) and Bozan Heci (22) were killed, 9 persons were wounded when the troops opened fire. 80 persons were also wounded due to excessive use of tear gas.
Ebid Ehmed El -Salih (40) and his daughter Rojîn (4), Hemze Fenû (24), 2 unidentified children and 1 unidentified adult were killed, 5 persons were wounded when Turkish troops opened fire against civilians who attempted to pass the border on 5 September 2016 from Rojava to Turkey.
(09/009) Demonstrators Intervened in Ankara…
The police intervened a demonstration staged in Ankara to support the hunger strike action initiated on 5 September 2016 in Diyarbakır with the demand of allowing people to visit Abdullah Öcalan. 8 persons were detained during the intervention.
