(06/100) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 8, 2020 that, 1 militant died in the air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to Qandil area in Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on May 27, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 8, 2020 that, 2 militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Baykan district of Siirt on June 4, 2020.

(06/101) Bombing Attack to Workers’ Vehicle in Van…

It is learned that 2 people died and 8 people got wounded in an explosion during passage of a vehicle carrying road workers in Çatak district of Van, on June 8, 2020. Van Governorate declared that the attack was organized by HPG militants.

(06/102) Person Died in Compulsory Military Service…

It is learned that family of Mustafa Araz, who lost his life during compulsory military service at Armoured Brigade Command No 1 in Babaeski district of Kırklareli on May 12, 2020; made a criminal complaint to Babaeski Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Mustafa Araz was alleged to kill himself, and his father states the following: “There were marks of being tied at wrists and hands of him. They have tied him. There were bruises and marks of battery all over his face. That is what the prosecutor has noted. There were marks of battery at his bottom and a deep fissure at his chin. And too many bruises on his back. I believe that my son was beaten to death. I talked to his friends and they told me that he had no problem”.

Family’s lawyer Cesim Parlak states the following: “His body was found by the wall at the back of an abandoned shopping mall. It is contrary to basic physics laws that a person who jumps from 15 meters high to kill himself would fell down in a position leaning to the wall. And, Mustafa’s body is found on the ground with his face up. It is impossible that a person falling from high would lay down on his back”. 

(06/103) People Subjected to Police Violence in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that, the police raided house of Şafi Hayme, an executive of Association of Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER) in Diyarbakır on June 8, 2020; and that people in the house were subjected to physical and verbal violence of the police.

Şafi Hayme’s wife Şadiye Hayme states the following about the raid: “They forced my husband to lay down and started to kick him. When I said ‘what are you doing, calm down’ they pulled my hair and pushed me to the ground. They were yelling ‘get down on the floor’. My daughter asked, ‘what are you doing to this old man’, they punched her and kicked her and forced to get down on the floor. They held a gun to her head and stepped on her back.”

(06/104) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1308 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 8, 2020 at 13.30 and at 18.00, and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The police intervened Mahmut Konuk having a protest in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on June 8, 2020, to regain his job from which he had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and forced him away from the building by using physical violence.

(06/106) Detained Journalists in Ankara…

Tele 1 TV channel Ankara correspondent İsmail Dükel, Oda TV Ankara news director Müyesser Yıldız, Veli Büysülen, Ankara Havadis newspaper writer and former chair of Retired Workers’ Union (Emekli-Sen) of DISK, are detained through the investigation on the grounds of ‘military espionage’, on June 8, 2020 in Ankara.

(06/107) Detained Political Party and Union Executives and Association Members in Diyarbakır…

6 of 7 people who were detained in house raids in Diyarbakır on June 7 and 8, 2020, are arrested by the court on June 8, 2020. Arrested people are: Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Eşref Mamedoğlu, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly member Ramazan Dengiz, DİSK Public Services Employees Union of Turkey Diyarbakır Branch No 1 chair Hasan Hayri Eroğlu, Rosa Women’s Association member Gülistan Nazlıer, former Bağlar district co-mayor Eşref Güler and former HDP executive Hasan Kale. 1 person (Suzan İşbilen) is released on judicial control conditions.

(06/108) Detained Executives and Members of Association in Diyarbakır…

5 members and executives of Association of Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER) including co-chair Mehmet Emin, are detained in Diyarbakır on June 8, 2020. Detained people are: Mehmet Emin, executive Şafi Hayme, members Leyla Ayaz, Abdulmenaf Kur, Müşeher Ülker.

(06/109) Detained HDP Members in Bitlis…

On June 8, 2020, 5 members and executives of HDP, including Party Assembly member Diyar Orak, are detained in house raids in districts of Bitlis. The reason of detention is unknown. Detained people are: Diyar Orak, Orhan Bezirganoğlu, Günay Karabaş, Ferda Avkan, Elif Orman Erez.

(06/110) Detained People in Mardin…

7 people including children who were detained by physical violence in house raids after the clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Ömerli district of Mardin on June 5, 2020; are released by the court on judicial control conditions on June 8, 2020. Detained people were: Mehmet Nezir Bilgiç, Kazım Dağ, Sultan Bilgiç, Ferhat Ortaç, M. B. (17), S. Y. (16) and Ş. D. (15).

7 of 10 people who were detained in house raids in Adana, on June 6, 2020, on the grounds of participating in illegal demonstrations; are arrested by the court on June 8, 2020. 3 people are released on judicial control conditions.

(06/112) Police Raid to Association’s Office in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that Diyarbakır office of Association of Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER) was raided through the investigation against the association and that the office was searched.

(06/113) Curfew in Bitlis…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on June 8, 2020 and lifted the curfew in 19 villages of central district which was announced as of 22:00 on May 30, 2020. The curfew is lifted in following villages: Çobansuyu, Aşağıçobansuyu, Akgün, Kutlu, Güllüce, Dikme, Aşağıdikme, Yukarıdikme, Esenburun, Beşkaynak, Bayırlı, Kınalı, Uçankuş, Yarönü, Dursun, Aşağıyolak, Yukarıyolak, Aşağıkoçak, Çeltikli.

(06/114) Curfew in Tatvan…

On June 8, 2020, Bitlis Governorate announced a curfew in 14 villages of Tatvan district as of 23:50 on June 7, 2020 until a further notice. Villages under curfew are: Kısıklı, Dirlik, Suboyu, Kepenek, Dönertaş, Sallıca, Aktoprak, Yorgalar, Yumrukaya, Uçankuş, Çörekli, Boblesür, Teknecik and Beşikli.

(06/115) Ban of Events in Urfa…

Antep Governorate made a declaration on June 6, 2020 and announced that, all open-door events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, hunger strikes, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 30 days as of June 9, 2020.

(06/116) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

1 of 2 people who were detained in Konya on June 5, 2020 is arrested, 1 person is released on judicial control conditions.

On June 8, 2020, 35 people are detained in operations covering 16 cities through a Bursa based investigation; 33 people including military members on active duty are detained in operations covering 16 cities through an Antep based investigation.

It is learned that warrants are issued through a Balıkesir based investigation for 74 former police officers who were dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and operations are initiated in 13 cities on June 8, 2020.

(06/117) Covid-19 Pandemic…

Ministry of Health declared that 19 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 989 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 8, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 4,711 and total number of confirmed cases is 171,121 as of June 8, 2020.
