(06/075) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage that 2 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Ömerli district of Mardin on June 5, 2020.

(06/076) Military Operation to North and East Syria…

Ministry of National Defence declared on June 5, 2020 that, 1 soldier died and 2 soldiers got wounded in an explosion during passage of a military vehicle in Idlib area of Syria.

1 soldier (İsmail Anayurt) who got wounded in an attack in Idlib area of Syria on April 26, 2020 died in hospital on June 7, 2020.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 6, 2020 that, Kurdish books sent to Rudaw TV reporter Rawin Sterk, in Sincan F Type Prison.

(06/078) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1307 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 5, 6, and 7, 2020 at 13.30 and at 18.00, and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(06/079) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of architect Alev Şahin who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning building in Ankara on June 5, 2020 and forced her away from the building by using physical violence.

(06/080) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police detained 5 people (Burcugül Çubuk, Başak Yeşilot, Nupelda Çelik, Gamze Taşçı and Şirin Yıldız) by using physical violence, during a general information check after the demonstration held by Women’s Liberation group, in Beşiktaş district of Istanbul on June 5, 2020; to protest stripping of MP status of 3 parliamentary members from Republican People’s Party (CHP) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Detained people are released on the same day.

(06/081) Police Intervention to a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened HDP MP’s marching from Grand National Assembly to Güvenpark in Ankara, on June 5, 2020, to protest stripping of MP status of 3 parliamentary members from CHP and HDP. It is learned that during the intervention which was grounded on lack of governorate’s permit, one parliamentary member’s jacket was torn and one parliamentary member’s eye glasses were broken.

(06/082) Police Intervention to a Protest in Diyarbakır…

The police intervened the group in front of HDP Diyarbakır office on June 5, 2020, who protest stripping of MP status of 3 parliamentary members from CHP and HDP. It is learned that nobody was detained.

(06/083) Police Intervention to a Protest in Hatay…

The police intervened the press declaration at Abdullah Cömert Park in Samandağ district of Hatay on June 5, 2020, about Edibe Özçelik who had a heart attack when her house was raided by the police in Samandağ district of Hatay and who died on January 20, 2020; and detained 2 people (Ümit Özçelik and Revan Aslan) by using physical violence. Detained people were released on the same day.

The police intervened the press declaration at the same place for the same reason on June 6, 2020 and detained 1 person (Ümit Özçelik) by using physical violence. Detained person was released on the same day.

(06/084) Detained Political Party and Union Executives and Association Members in Diyarbakır…

6 people are detained in house raids in Diyarbakır on June 7 and 8, 2020. Detained people are: HDP Party Assembly member Eşref Mamedoğlu, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly member Ramazan Dengiz, DİSK Public Services Employees Union of Turkey Diyarbakır Branch No 1 chair Hasan Hayri Eroğlu, Rosa Women’s Association members Gülistan Nazlıer and Suzan İşbilen, former HDP executive Hasan Kale. It is learned that detained 6 people are restricted from lawyer meetings for 24 hours.

(06/085) Detained Political Party, Union and Association Executives in Adıyaman…

4 people are detained in house raids in Adıyaman on June 5, 2020. Detained people are: former HDP executives Abuzer Küçükkepçe and Rıza Açıkpayam, Education and Science Workers’ Union executive Ayşegül Yücetaş, Democratic Alevi Association Adıyaman Branch chair Celal Demirci. The reason of detention is unknown.

(06/086) Detained People in Mardin…

7 people including children are detained by physical violence in house raids after the clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Ömerli district of Mardin on June 5, 2020.

It is learned that 7 people were detained on the grounds of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’ and were taken to Mardin Gendarmerie Command. Detained people are: Mehmet Nezir Bilgiç, Kazım Dağ, Sultan Bilgiç, Ferhat Ortaç, M. B. (17), S. Y. (16) and Ş. D. (15).

6 of 7 people who were detained in rural neighbourhoods of Derik district of Mardin on May 31, 2020, are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on June6, 2020. Arrested people are: Bedrettin Özge, Halil Bergin, Aydın Özdurak, Mahmut Temel, İbrahim Temel ve M. Nezir Demli.

(06/088) Detained People in Şırnak…

4 people are detained in house raids in Cizre district of Şırnak on June 5, 2020. The reason of detention is unknown. Detained people are: Faruk İverendi, Metin Sekman and 2 more people.

(06/089) Detained People in Adana…

10 people are detained in house raids in Adana, on June 6, 2020, on the grounds of participating in illegal demonstrations. Names of detained people are unknown.

(06/090) Investigation Against People for Social Media Posts…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 6, 2020, that Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against 36 people for social media posts on the allegation that Barış Çakan, who died in an armed assault in Ankara, was killed for listening Kurdish music.

(06/091) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against journalist Metin Uca, for his social media posts on sameness of election results with the data pre-shared by Anadolu Agency before the Presidential and parliamentary election on June 24, 2018; is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 53 on June 5, 2020.

The court sentenced Metin Uca to 1 year 2 months and 17 days on the charge of ‘degrading a public officer because of his duty’.

(06/092) Investigation Against a Journalist in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 5, 2020 that an investigation was initiated against journalist Lezgin Akdeniz, for his news reports “Discrimination Does Not Care Virus: Mosques Were Disinfected, Cem Houses and Churches Were Not”. It is reported that Lezgin Akdeniz gave his official statement through the investigation at Diyarbakır Security Directorate.

(06/093) Investigation Against a Writer in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 5, 2020 that, Vatan Party chair Doğu Perinçek made a criminal complaint against writer Aziz Tunç, who lives abroad, for an article he wrote. It is learned that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation and issued a detention warrant for Aziz Tunç.

(06/094) People on Trial in Urfa…

The trial of the case against 30 people including 23 arrestees, for participating in Democratic Society Congress (DTK) activities, is held at Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 2 on June 5, 2020.

After defence hearings the court released Feridun Günbegi and Education and Science Workers’ Union Urfa branch former chair Leyla Mümin on judicial control conditions; and decided to continue detention of 5 people and adjourned the trial to July 3, 2020.

(06/095) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

1 of 2 people who were detained in Nevşehir on June 5, 2020 is arrested by the court on the same day and 1 person is released on judicial control conditions.

(06/096) Labour Killings…

Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 156 workers including 6 children, 6 women, and 14 refugees died while working in May 2020. It is stated in the report that at least 29 workers died from Covid-19, in May 2020.

(06/097) Curfew in Ömerli …

Mardin Governorate made a declaration on June 5, 2020 and declared curfew in 4 rural neighbourhoods of Ömerli district as of 03:00 on June 5, 2020 until a further notice. Mardin Governorate made another declaration on the same day and lifted the curfew as of 14:00. Neighbourhoods under curfew are: Kayagöze, Taşlıca, Harmankaya, Duygulu.

(06/098) Ban of Events in Urfa…

Urfa Governorate made a declaration on June 6, 2020 and announced that, all open-door events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 30 days as of June 8, 2020.

(06/099) Covid-19 Pandemic…

Ministry of Health declared that 18 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 930 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 5, 2020.

Ministry of Health declared that 21 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 878 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 6, 2020.

Ministry of Health declared that 23 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 914 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 7, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 4,692 and total number of confirmed cases is 170,132 as of June 7, 2020.

CHP Istanbul MP Enis Berberoğlu, who was arrested after being stripped of MP status on June 5, 2020, and who was put in Maltepe Prison; is sent home until July 31, 2020 because of precautions for Covid-19 in open prisons. Enis Berberoğlu could serve his remaining time in an open prison since he had been prisoned before verdict.
