(10/029) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of October 2, 2019 that, 1 HPG militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Baykan district of Siirt on September 28, 2019.

(10/030) Person Was Forced to be Police Informant in Adana…

It is learned from the news coverage of October 2, 2019 that, Murat Argün, a member of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in Adana, was forced to be police informant by people claim to be intelligence officials in a car without license plate who stopped him on his way. Murat Argün stated that he was said “You seem to deal with HDP activities but you engage in other things. Who is related to illegal activities here? We will make you fired from your job and you would not find another job. We know the school of your daughter. We work with intelligence service. You and your friends do illegal activities under the name of HDP. We watch you all, know you all. Who else is involved in the illegal structure here? You should work for us otherwise we will take you”.

(10/031) Censored Letter in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of October 2, 2019 that, the letter written by İsmail Kara in Silivri Prison No 9, which is about problems in prison and demands of Grup Yorum members on hunger strike, was censored by prison letter-reading committee. It is stated in the news reports that, the letter was sent as a copy after the parts on problems and demands were covered by blank paper.

(10/032) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1058 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on October 2, 2019 at 13.30, and at 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on October 2, 2019, 2 people (Nazan Bozkurt and Merve Demirel) and at 18.00 2 people (Nazan Bozkurt and Derviş Lermi) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on October 2, 2019. It is learned detained people were released on the same days they were detained.

(10/033) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of families of military school students who were arrested through July 15 coup attempt investigations and family of Mustafa Yılmaz who was abducted in Ankara on February 19, 2019, to be held in front of Grand National Assembly in Ankara on October 2, 2019, and detained 12 people by using physical violence. It is reported that the police prevented press members from following and recording the press declaration. The names of detained people are unknown. It is learned that detained people are given a fine of 320 Turkish Liras per person on the grounds of ‘violating the law of misdemeanour’ and are released on the same day.

HDP members Cemile Ataş, Erdal Ekici, Özge Hoşoğlu and Cihan Amaç who were detained on September 29, 2019 in Tunceli are released by the court on judicial control conditions on October 2, 2019.

(10/035) Lawyers on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The case against 8 people including 7 journalists, on Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9, for the news reports on Dicle News Agency which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, about Musa Çitil, Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Regional Brigadier General during the curfew in Sur district of Diyarbakır and for social media posts sharing these news reports, is held on October 2, 2019.

The case was opened upon official complaint of Musa Çitil. The indictment demands jail penalty from 1 year to 3 years for A. Vahap Taş, Selman Çiçek, Kemal Sancılı, İnan Kızılkaya and Selim Günenç, Hamza Gündüz and Çağdaş Kaplan on the charges of ‘marking the identities of state officials that were assigned in fight against terrorism as targets’. The indictment also demands jail penalty from 1 year up to 5 years for Selman Çelik for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The court has accepted Musa Çitil’s demand to involve in the trials.

The court decided to separate the case against Selim Günenç and adjourned the trial to December 18, 2019.

(10/036) Journalist on Trial in Ankara…

The first trial of the case against Rahmi Yıldırım, Disciplinary Board member of Journalists’ Union of Turkey, for his article on Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defence, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 3 on October 2, 2019. The indictment demands sentence of 2 years up to 4 years for Rahmi Yıldırım on the charge of insulting Hulusi Akar. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 25, 2019.

The final trial of the case against actor Ersin Umut Güler on the grounds of ‘insulting the President on social media’ is held on October 2, 2019. The court sentenced Ersin Umut Güler to 1 year and 9 months.

(10/038) Lawyer on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The final trial of the case against lawyer Feride Laçin, on the grounds of participating in activities of Democratic Society Congress (DTK), is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 on October 2, 2019. The indictment demands sentence for Feride Laçin on the charge of ‘establishing and leading an illegal organisation’, and the court acquitted Feride Laçin.

(10/039) Ban of Events in Adana…

Adana Governorate made a declaration on October 2, 2019 and announced that all open-door events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 15 days as of October 3, 2019. This is the fourth time of governorate ban on events for 15 days in Adana, after trustee appointment to Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van.
