(09/159 Ankara Railway Station Massacre Trial…
The trial, which was brought before the Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 26 against five fugitive defendants in connection with the loss of 103 lives as a result of a suicide bomb attack organised by ISIS during the Peace Rally held in Ankara on 10 October 2015, resumed on 25 September 2026. The court adjourned the hearing until 3 December 2026.
(09/160) The Seyithan Durdu Case…
The trial concerning the death of Seyithan Duru, who was killed on 28 December 2024 as a result of gunfire opened by soldiers in the rural neighbourhood of Avzêrk, part of the Saray district of Van, against Y. A., the commander of the Tulgalı Border Post, 3rd Border Company, 2nd Border Battalion, was resumed on 25 September 2026 at the Van 1t Heavy Penal Court No. 1. The court adjourned the hearing until 13 November 2026.

According to news reports published on 27 September 2026, it was learned that an inmate named Zafer Boyun had died following a heart attack whilst in prison. It could not be ascertained in which prison Zafer Boyun was being held.

According to news reports published on 27 September 2026, it was learned that journalist Tuğba Tekerek, who had been arrested as part of an operation targeting LGBTI+ individuals known as ‘My Family is Safe’ and detained at Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison, was forced to sleep on the floor in her cell due to overcrowding.

Journalist Ali Tarakcı, against whom the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had launched an investigation on the grounds of a social media post stating “A very important minister will resign on Friday”, was detained on 26 September 2026. Tarakcı, who was brought before a magistrate’s court on the same day, was arrested on the charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information to the public”.

Journalist Fatih Ergin was detained on 27 September 2026 as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of a social media post regarding the death in prison of MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu. He was detained on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “committing the offence through the press and media”.

It was learned that on 27 September 2026, 12 trans women residing on Bayram Street in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, were detained following raids on their homes and were subsequently released after giving statements to the police.

On 23 September 2026, seven of the nine people detained as part of an investigation into the Menderes Municipality in Izmir were arrested on 25 September 2026 by the magistrates’ court to which they were referred, on charges of “aiding a criminal organisation”, “bribery” and “extortion”, whilst two were released subject to judicial supervision.

On 28 September 2026, nine people were detained on allegations of “misappropriation” as part of an investigation into a cooperative within the Bolu Municipality.
(09/168) Individuals Detained as Part of an Investigation into the “Süleymancılar” Community…
Of the 25 people detained on 20 September 2026 as part of an investigation into the community known as the “Süleymancılar”, 20 were arrested by the magistrates’ court to which they were referred on 24 September 2026, whilst five were released subject to judicial supervision.
As part of the same investigation, receivers had been appointed to 23 companies.

The trial of comedian Deniz Göktaş, brought before the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No. 14 on the grounds of certotal of 1 year, 7 months and 5 days’ imprisonment: 11 months and 20 days for the offence of “insulting the President” and 7 months and 15 days for the offence of “publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility”; the court also ordered his release upon sentencing.
Deniz Göktaş had been arrested on 3 July 2026.
(09/170) Journalist Against Whom an Indictment Has Been Prepared…
It has been reported that the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Alican Uludağ—on the grounds of a social media post he made regarding the deaths of four people following the collapse of a building in the Gebze district of Kocaeli—was accepted by the Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No. 59 on 28 September 2026. The indictment seeks the prosecution of Alican Uludağ on the charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information”. The first hearing in the case is scheduled for 5 November 2026.

According to press reports on 27 September 2026, it has emerged that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into Mustafa Erdem, MP for Antalya from the New Party, on allegations of “bribery”.

Among the 28 individuals on trial are Mezopotamya Agency
(MA) correspondent Zeynep Durgut, JINNEWS correspondent Derya Ren and Ajasa Welat correspondent Mahmut Altıntaş, proceedings continued on 25 September 2026 in the Silopi Criminal Court of First Instance regarding a protest held on 15 October 2024 in the Silopi district of Şırnak. The indictment seeks the conviction of the 28 individuals on charges of “contravening the Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations” and “resisting the performance of official duties”. The court adjourned the hearing until 3 February 2027.
(09/173) Social Media Accounts and Games Subject to Access Restrictions…
According to news reports published on 24 September 2026, it was learned that 250 social media accounts—including those belonging to broadcaster Haluk Hepkon, trade unionist Başaran Aksu, former diplomat Engin Solakoğlu and writer Ümit Şıracı, were blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the accounts had been made invisible from within Turkey.
According to news reports published on 25 September 2026, it was learned that access to the X social media accounts belonging to journalist Canan Kaya, former manager of the Turkish Deposit and Insurance Fund Abdullah Güzeldülger and FenerSol had been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the accounts had been made invisible from within Turkey.
According to news reports published on 25 September 2026, it was learned that a decision had been made to block access to and remove a total of 255 games hosted on the Stem gaming platform.
It was learned that access to the Gofile.io website, which provides file upload, storage and sharing services, had been blocked pursuant to a decision by the Bartın Magistrates’ Court dated 25 September 2026.
According to press reports on 26 September 2026, it was learned that access to the X social media account belonging to journalist Ali Tarakçı had been blocked following a decision by the Ankara Magistrates’ Court No. 7. It was reported that the account had been made invisible from within Turkey.
According to press reports on 27 September 2026, it was learned that 80 X social media accounts—including those belonging to journalists, academics, trade unionists and economists, as well as those belonging to the Kısa Dalga news website, had been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the accounts had been made invisible from within Turkey.
According to press reports on 28 September 2026, it has been learned that access to 55 X social media accounts – including those belonging to BirGün newspaper reporters Meral Danyıldız and Sarya Toprak, and ANKA News Agency court reporter Esra Tokat – has been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of safeguarding national security and public order, and that the accounts have been made invisible from within Turkey.
