According to news reports published on 15 September 2026, it has emerged that the release of a prisoner named Hicran Binici, who is being held at Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison and has served her life sentence, has been adjourned for one year by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK). The reports stated that Hicran Binici, who has been in prison for 33 years, had her release adjourned four times previously.

On 11 September 2026, 29 of the 47 individuals detained as part of an investigation launched against the municipality of Seferihisar in Izmir on allegations of “irregularities” and “bribery” against the municipality of Seferihisar in İzmir, 29 of the 47 individuals detained were remanded in custody by the magistrates’ court to which they were referred on 16 September 2026, whilst 18 were released, 17 of whom were subject to judicial supervision.

The final hearing in the case brought against former Member of Parliament Hüseyin Aygün at the Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No. 7 – on the grounds of social media posts relating to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu – took place on 16 September 2026. The court sentenced Hüseyin Aygün to 7 months and 15 days’ imprisonment on the charge of “openly inciting others to commit a crime”.

Proceedings continued on 16 September 2026 in the case brought before the Criminal Court of First Instance No. 26 in Ankara against 12 individuals, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, on the grounds of alleged irregularities at the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), at which Özgür Özel was elected as General Chairman. The indictment seeks the prosecution of the 12 individuals on charges of ‘violating the electoral law’. The court adjourned the hearing until 21 October 2026.

The trial of Canan Kaftancıoğlu, former Istanbul Provincial Chair of the CHP, was brought before Istanbul Criminal Court No. 53 on the grounds of a social media post she made; the hearing continued on 15 September 2026. The indictment seeks Canan Kaftancıoğlu’s conviction on the charge of “insulting the President”. The court adjourned the hearing until 10 December 2026.

According to news reports on 15 September 2026, it was revealed that the documentary titled “Şeytantepe”, which was produced in connection with the discovery of the body of a child named Narin Güran in the rural neighbourhood of Tavşantepe, in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, following her disappearance, had been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the documentary had been removed from YouTube. The reports also stated that access to the page for the documentary on the https://140journos.com/ website had been blocked pursuant to a decision dated 27 August 2026 by the Diyarbakır 1st Magistrates’ Court.
From news reports published on 15 September 2026, it was learned that the Information and Communications Technologies Authority (BTK) had imposed an access ban on the Instagram social media account belonging to the Welat Agency.
It was reported that access to two news articles and one post on the websites https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr/ and https://halktv.com.tr/—relating to a company in which the wife of the Mayor of Aydın is a partner—had been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.

On 15 September 2026, 26 people were detained during operations carried out in 15 provinces as part of an Ankara-based investigation, on the grounds that they had established the organisation’s ‘public secrecy’ structure.
On 16 September 2026, three people were detained in Ankara as part of an investigation into the organisation’s current structure.
