(09/025) Journalist Detained in Ankara…
Journalist Oya Lale Arslan was detained on 4 September 2026 on charges of “spreading propaganda for an organisation” and “publicly disseminating misleading information to the public”, as part of an investigation launched against her by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds of her social media posts. Oya Lale Arslan was arrested by the magistrates’ court to which she was referred on the same day.
(09/026) Individuals Detained as Part of an Investigation Centred in Diyarbakır…
On 3 September 2026, as part of a Diyarbakır-based investigation into commemorations held for militants who had lost their lives in clashes on various dates, a total of 14 people – including party and association members and executives – were detained on charges of “spreading organisation propaganda”, comprising 9 people in Diyarbakır, 3 in Manisa and 2 in İzmir. The three people detained in Manisa were released on 4 September 2026 by the magistrates’ court to which they were referred, subject to judicial supervision.
The names of those detained who have been identified are: Sibel Kaya, Arzu Karaman, Rozerin Kurt, Hasan Karsu, Yunus Emre Ergin, Baran Çınar, Murat Sönmez, Mervan Konur, Azad Kılınç, Süleyman Yıldız, Muhlis Çiftçi, Mahsum Yılmaz and Berivan Ocaklı.
(09/027) Police Raid on an Association in Diyarbakır…
It has been reported that on 4 September 2026, the building of the Amargi Culture and Arts Association in the Sur district of Diyarbakır was raided by the police without prior notice to the association’s executives, and a search was carried out on the premises.
(09/028) Lawyers Facing Investigation…
According to news reports on 4 September 2026, it has emerged that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into two lawyers, Enes Ermaner and Hüseyin Ersöz, who were acting as legal representatives in a case brought against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, on allegations of “insult” and “threats”.

According to press reports on 4 September 2026, it has been reported that, as part of an investigation into the community known as the “Süleymancılar”, seizure orders were issued against five companies and a detention order was issued against a man named İrfan Yılmaz.
(09/030) Social Media Accounts Subject to Access Restrictions…
According to press reports on 3 September 2026, a total of five X social media accounts belonging to the Family Solidarity Network, Sol Haber, İBB Tekzip, İstanbul Gönüllüleri and writer Fırat Enez—a total of five X social media accounts—had been blocked under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order, and that the accounts had been made inaccessible from within Turkey.
