(09/001) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Prison…
According to press reports on 30 August 2026, it emerged that a child named Ö.A. (16, f), who was arrested in Ankara prior to the NATO Summit, was being held in a single-occupancy cell at the Kayseri Bünyan Closed Prison for Children and Young People. The report also stated that Ö.A. was taken out for 15 minutes of fresh air each day.
(09/002) Prisoner Whose Release Was Postponed by a Decision of the Prison Administration and Supervisory Board…
According to news reports on 31 August 2026, it was revealed that the release of Gülşen Adet, a prisoner held at Ankara Sincan Women’s Prison who had completed her life sentence in 2024, had been postponed for one year by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK). The reports stated that the prisoner’s release had previously been postponed five times.
(08/003) Comedian Arrested…
Comedian Deniz Göktaş, who was arrested on 3 July 2026 on charges of ‘insulting the President’ and ‘denigrating religious values’ on the grounds of certain remarks made during his show, had been granted a release order by the court; however, he was not released due to an arrest warrant issued as part of a new investigation opened over other remarks made during the same show. According to press reports on 31 August 2026, it emerged that a new arrest warrant had been issued for Deniz Göktaş following an appeal lodged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office against the release order.
(09/004) Social Media Account Subject to Access Restrictions…
According to press reports on 31 August 2026, it emerged that access to the X social media account belonging to a former judge had been restricted under Article 8/A of Law No. 651, on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.
(09/005) Individuals Detained in Ankara…
It has been reported that, on 1 September 2026, 10 individuals were detained during house raids carried out in Ankara on the grounds that they were members of the organisation’s current structure.
