(08/098) Syrian Refugee Child Killed in a Racist Attack in Adana…
According to news reports on August 27, 2026, it was learned that on August 21, 2026, a five-year-old Syrian child in Adana was subjected to a racist attack because of the Syrian flag on the T-shirt he was wearing. It was reported that an argument broke out between a refugee child named Ali Şihap—also a Syrian national—who intervened in the racist attack, and the child alleged to have carried out the attack. Following the argument, it was learned that Ali Şihap lost his life as a result of gunfire opened by the other child’s father, who had subjected Ali to the racist attack.
Ali Şihap’s cousin stated the following in a statement published in the press:
Ali and another child he worked with intervened and tried to calm the Turkish child down. The parties left the scene, and Ali and his friend continued working. Shortly thereafter, the Turkish child, along with his mother and father, came to the scrapyard and assaulted Ali and the other child. Neighbors intervened to calm the family down. However, a short time later, the father returned in a white car and fired two shots at Ali, who was loading scrap onto a pickup truck. Ali was shot in the waist and leg. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved despite all efforts.

A person identified as A.Y., who was taken into custody on August 26, 2026, in the Nazilli district of Aydın, was arrested on August 27, 2026, by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred, on charges of “insulting the President” and “inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”

In a statement issued by the Istanbul Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on August 27, 2026, it was announced that an investigation had been launched against a British citizen named Timothy Ash due to remarks he made about the President during a speech he delivered at an event in the Bodrum district of Muğla.

According to news reports on August 27, 2026, it was learned that, pursuant to decisions made starting in 2023, access to the pages of 45 games on the Steam gaming platform has been restricted.

On August 28, 2026, two individuals were detained during operations conducted in Istanbul and Muğla as part of an Istanbul-based investigation into the organization’s current structure.
