At least five readers of Kaldıraç magazine were detained in Istanbul on June 25, 2026, on the grounds that they had participated in a protest held in front of the National Defense University. Five people were released on the same day.

On June 24, 2026, 15 members of the Demir Leblebi group who were distributing flyers related to Pride Month in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district were detained by police. The 15 individuals were released on June 25, 2026, following their questioning at the police station.

Twenty-four people, including Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Yetişkin and Balçova Mayor Onur Yiğit, were detained on June 25, 2026 in İzmir, on allegations of bribery.

Elif Torun Öneren, Chairperson of the Revolutionary Party, who was among the 209 people detained in Ankara on June 23, 2026, was released on June 24, 2026, following her police questioning. It was reported that 208 people remain in custody.

Writer Şivan Zeren was detained on June 24, 2026, at a book stand set up in a shopping center in the Tatvan district of Bitlis, on the grounds that a mug was found there. Şivan Zeren was released the same day after giving a statement to the police.

On June 23, 2026, in İzmir, E.A., a 1-year-old child, was detained on the grounds that he had displayed a poster of Selahattin Demirtaş, the former Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), and the flag of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and had made social media posts containing alleged organization propaganda. (17, e) was released by the magistrate’s court to which he was referred, subject to judicial supervision.

On June 25, 2026, Mahir Gür, Spokesperson for the Federation of Socialist Assemblies (SMF), was detained during a home raid in Ankara.
(06/169) Journalist on Trial in Şırnak
On June 25, 2026, the trial continued at the Şırnak Heavy Penal Court No. 1 for 19 individuals, including journalist Nedim Oruç, who was detained and arrested while covering a news story in the Cizre district of Şırnak. The indictment seeks to convict the 19 individuals on charges of “unauthorized possession of dangerous substances,” “completely or partially covering one’s face to conceal one’s identity during meetings and demonstrations,” “spreading organization propaganda,” and “resisting to prevent the performance of official duties.” The court adjourned the hearing until September 26, 2026.
The 19 individuals, including Nedim Oruç, were arrested on January 14, 2026, and were released at the first hearing of the case on April 24, 2026.

The trial of journalist Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi, which was initiated at the Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 21 as part of an investigation into the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), continued on June 24, 2026.
The indictment seeks to convict Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi of the crime of “being a member of an organization.”
The court decided to maintain the travel ban as a judicial control measure against the two individuals and adjourned the hearing until November 24, 2026.
Yıldız Tar and İbrahim Halit Elçi were arrested on February 21, 2025, and released on May 30, 2025.

The trial of Beritan Aksu, a member of Free Young Women, began on June 24, 2026, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 14. The indictment seeks to convict Beritan Aksu of the crime of “being a member of an organization.” The court ruled to extend Beritan Aksu’s detention and, citing lack of jurisdiction, ordered the case file to be transferred to Urfa.
Beritan Aksu had been arrested on February 3, 2026.
(06/172) Media Organizations Whose Accreditation Applications Were Rejected…
It has been reported that accreditation applications from media organizations—including Halk TV, Nefes, Sözcü TV, Cumhuriyet, ANKA News Agency, Medyascope, T24, and İlke TV—to cover the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7–8, 2026, were rejected by the relevant NATO unit.
(06/173) Social Media Account and Website Subject to Access Restrictions…
According to news reports on June 23, 2026, it was learned that access to journalist Diren Yurtsever’s X social media account had been restricted.
It was reported that the website https://www.lyngsat.com/, which provides technical information on satellite broadcasts and frequencies, was blocked pursuant to a June 24, 2026, decision by the Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Investigation Bureau.
