(03/058) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of March 11, 2026 that, some prisoners who were arrested on the grounds of a protest they participated in and were put in Istanbul Marmara (Silivri) Prison No 6 were subjected to physical violence and were injured in various parts of their bodies and some prisoners were kept in solitary cell without shoes and clothes for 3 days. It is also stated in the news reports that there are 10 prisoners in the ward for 6 people.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 11, 2026 that, Doğukan Mağol, a prisoner in Istanbul Marmara (Silivri) Prison No 6, who was subjected to physical violence and was put in solitary confinement because of protesting the surveillance of his ward with cameras, went on an indefinite and irreversible hunger strike.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 11, 2026 that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu’s X social media account named “Presidential Candidate Office”, on the charges of ‘insulting the President’ and ‘publicly spreading misleading information’.

(03/061) Political Party Executive on Trial in Kocaeli

The final trial of the case against Özlem Ünal, Deputy Chairperson of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Youth Branch, on the grounds of insulting the police during a protest organized in Kocaeli for detaining and arresting IBB Mayor, is held at Kocaeli Penal Court of First Instance No 14 on March 11, 2026. The court sentenced Özlem Ünal to a judicial fine of 35,400 TL and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

(03/062) Access Ban on Social Media Posts…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 12, 2026 that, 5 social media posts on the grounds of possible increase in oil prices are banned to access by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No 12 on March 2, 2026, on the grounds of protection of national security and public order.
