(10/190) Gendarmerie Intervention to a Protest in Amasya…

The gendarmerie intervened in the press declaration of the residents of Çambükü village of Taşova district of Amasya on October 19, 2022 against the organized industrial zone construction in the area. It is learned that some participants were injured by the physical violence in the intervention but the number of people injured is unknown.

(10/191) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened in the press declaration of Dev-Lis (The Revolutionary High School Students) members held at Taksim Square in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on October 19, 2022 to protest the mine explosion in Amasra district of Bartın on October 14, 2022 which killed 41 workers; and detained 2 people by using physical violence.

(10/192) Police Prevention to a Protest in Izmir…

The police prevented the press declaration to be held in front of Türkan Saylan Cultural Center in Izmir on October 20, 2022 regarding the allegations of chemical gas usage in military operations of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government. It is learned that the press declaration was held in front of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Izmir Office and that the police did not allow anyone but HDP Muş MP Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit into the area of declaration.

(10/193) Investigation Against Turkish Medical Chamber Chair and HRFT Executive Board Member…

It is learned from the news coverage of October 20, 2022 that, Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against the Turkish Medical Chamber chair and HRFT executive board member Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı, on the grounds of her statements regarding the allegations of chemical gas usage in military operations of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government. The prosecutor’s Office stated that the investigation is initiated on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and ‘degrading Turkish Nation, the Turkish State and the institutions and organs of the state’ according to the Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code.

The final trial of the case against Evrensel newspaper’s editor in chief Görkem Kınacı, Birgün newspaper’s news editor Uğur Şahin and https://www.birgun.net/ website’s executive editor Uğur Koç, over the news reports about a judge of the Constitutional Court, is held at Istanbul Beykoz Penal Court of First Instance No. 6 on October 19, 2022. The court acquitted the journalists.

The trial of the case against journalist Metin Cihan upon the complaint of former Minister Berat Albayrak is held at Istanbul Heavy penal Court No. 36 on October 18, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Metin Cihan on the charge of ‘insulting a public official due to their duty’. Metin Cihan did not attend the trial. The court decided to await the detention warrant for Metin Cihan and adjourned the trial to December 14, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of October 19, 2022 that, the indictment of Eskişehir Public Prosecutor’s Office against 8 people who were detained by the police intervening in the Pride March held in Eskişehir on July 3, 2022 is accepted by Eskişehir Penal Court of First Instance No. 4 and that the first trial will be held on February 16, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for 8 people on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’.

It is learned that the news reports about Albayrak Holding company, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.trhttps://haber.sol.org.trhttps://artigercek.com websites are banned to Access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Bakırköy Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on October 17, 2022.

Muş Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 19, 2022 and announced that on the grounds that “It is aimed to disrupt the public order with the calls made against the operations carried out across the border”, all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences and so on are banned for 15 days as of October 20, 2022.

Diyarbakır Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 19, 2022 and announced that on the grounds that “It is aimed to disrupt the public order with the calls made against the operations carried out across the border”, all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences and so on are banned for 1 day as of October 20, 2022.

Adıyaman Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 20, 2022 and announced that on the grounds that “It is aimed to disrupt the public order with the calls made against the operations carried out across the border”, all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences and so on are banned for 10 days as of October 20, 2022.

Urfa Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 20, 2022 and announced that on the grounds that “It is aimed to disrupt the public order with the calls made against the operations carried out across the border”, all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences and so on are banned for 3 days as of October 20, 2022.

Antep Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 20, 2022 and announced that all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences, panel talks, seminars and so on are banned for 7 days as of October 20, 2022.

Tunceli Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 20, 2022 and announced that on the grounds that “It is aimed to disrupt the public order with the calls made against the operations carried out across the border”, all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, opening tents and stands, concerts, festivals, holding banners and posters, carrying torches and so on are subjected to the permission of the local administration for 4 days as of October 20, 2022.

Bitlis Governorate’s Office made a declaration on October 20, 2022 and announced that all meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, indoor and outdoor assemblies, protests, meetings, public talks and meetings, audio and visual activities with announcing equipment, flying balloons and lanterns, aerial activities with drones, glides or any kind of aircrafts, commemorations, panel talks, conferences, concerts, festivals, theatre plays, carrying torches, holding banners and posters, distributing leaflets, collecting petitions, carrying torches, conferences and so on are subjected to the permission of the local administration for 15 days as of October 20, 2022.
