(10/022) Extra-judicial Killing in Van…

Ömer Faruk Satılmış (16) who was shot during operations conducted by the soldiers and heavily wounded in Özalp district of Van died on 5 October 2015 in the hospital.

(10/023) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

Hakkari Governorate announced that the implementation of temporary security zones was extended in the province and prolonged until 20 October 2015.

Sevgin Kargun was at her/his foot and wounded when security forces opened fire during the operations conducted on 5 October 2015 in the city centre of Şırnak.

Private Ufuk Demirel who was heavily wounded when a military troop was opened fire on 5 October 2015in the rural area of Osmaniye province died in the hospital.

General Staff announced that 10 militants were killed during the operations conducted on 5 October 2015 in the rural areas of Hakkari.

23 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 5 October 2015 during the passage of a military vehicle nearby Çaytepe village of Kocaköy district in Diyarbakır.

Eşmepınar Gendarmerie Station in Başkale district of Van was attack on 6 October 2015 with a bomb-laden vehicle. The attacker died; 14 soldiers, one temporary village guard and one civilian were wounded during the attack.

10 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 7 October 2015 after the attack against Aktütün Gendarmerie Station in Şedinli district of Hakkari.

The police conducted house raid on 6 October 2015 in Bismil district of Diyarbakır and killed 4 unidentified persons.

(10/025) Person Killed by the Police in Diyarbakır…

Hayriye Hüdaverdi (70) who was shot by the police and heavily wounded in Silvan district of Diyarbakır died on 6 October 2015 in the hospital.

(10/026) Death in Şırnak…

Mülkiye Geçgel (48) who was shot by the police and heavily wounded during 9 days of curfew in Cizre district of Şırnak died on 7 October 2015 in the hospital.

(10/027) Lice Massacre and Bahtiyar Aydın Case…

İzmir Heavy Penal Court No 1 continued on 7 October 2015 to hear the case launched in connection with the killings of 14 civilians, one soldier and Gendarmerie Regional Commander Brigadier General Bahtiyar Aydın. Retired Colonel Eşref Hatipoğlu who was gendarmerie commander in Diyarbakır on the day of the incident and Lieutenant Tünay Yanardağ are on trial in this case.

Defence lawyers presented death certificate of Tülay Yanardağ and the court adjourned the hearing to 24 December 2015.

Gendarmerie Regional Commander Brigadier General Bahtiyar Aydın went to Lice district of Diyarbakır for investigation right after the incident which led to killing of 14 civilians and 1 soldier in 1993. He was shot to death in the garden of the gendarmerie station by an unidentified assassin.

The case launched in connection with the killing of Brigadier General Bahtiyar Aydın was transferred to Eskişehir Heavy Penal Court No 1 for security reasons. Eskişehir Heavy Penal Court No 1 took the decision of non-jurisdiction on the grounds that the court was not specially authorized court. 5th Penal Chamber at the Court of Cassation sent the files of the case to İzmir Heavy Penal Court on 24 February 2014.

İzmir Heavy Penal Court No 1 decided on 13 June 2014 to suspend to hear the case of Bahtiyar Aydın’s killing to ask for permission from Ministry of Justice to investigate retired Colonel Eşref Hatipoğlu who was gendarmerie commander in Diyarbakır on the day of the incident and Lieutenant Tünay Yanardağ. The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors denied on 29 January 2015 the court’s decision to suspend the trial.

(10/028) Suspicious Private Death in Diyarbakır…

Fadıl Baran who was serving for the compulsory military service in Lice district of Diyarbakır allegedly committed suicide on 7 October 2015. He was registered to Batman province.

(10/029) Hasan Ferit Gedik Case…

Anadolu (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 10 continued on 5 October 2015 to hear the case concerning the killing of Hasan Ferit Gedik on 30 September 2013 during the armed attack by drug dealers against the members of People’s Front in Gülsuyu quarter of Maltepe district in İstanbul. 35 defendants including 10 remanded defendants are on trial for being involved in the incidents on 28-29-30 September 2013.

After the testimonies of the defendants at the close hearing, the court decided to release 2 defendants to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 21 December 2015.

Süleyman Kaçan incarcerated in Honaz (Denizli) D-type Prison for being convicted in a murder case allegedly committed suicide on 5 October 2015 by slitting his own throat.

(10/031) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 6 October 2015, 9 prisoners incarcerated in Malatya E-type Prison were transferred to other prisons without their demands.

(10/032) Journalist on Trial for twits…

Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 13 concluded on 6 October 2015 to hear the case against the journalist Sedef Kabaş launched for the tweets concerning the Public Prosecutor who gave the decision of not to prosecute the corruption allegations.

The court acquitted the journalist. The indictment wanted Sedef Kabaş to be sentenced according to the Anti-Terror law.

The police conducted a house raid on 30 December 2014 in Çekmeköy region of İstanbul and detained Sedef Kabaş. The police also seized the computer of Sedef Kabaş.

(10/033) Mayor Convicted…

Ağrı Penal Court of First Instance No 3 concluded to hear the case against Ağrı Mayor Sırrı Sakık launched in connection with a speech he made during Newroz celebrations in 2015.

The court sentenced Sırrı Sakık to 7 months and 15 days’ imprisonment. The indictment wanted the defendant to be sentenced according to the Article 301 TPC for “degrading Turkish nation, Turkish state, institutions and organs of the state”.

On 7 October 2015, Telecommunication Communication Directorate banned access to news portal “www.sendika.org”. Access to “jiyan.com.tr” was also banned on 8 October 2015.

(10/035) Activity Intervened in İzmir…

The police intervened the members of Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF), Students’ Collective, and Youth Opposition (Gençlik Muhalefeti) when they had a football match in Aegean University campus. 19 students were detained during the intervention.

(10/036) Operations throughout Turkey…

Operations against the members and sympathisers of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) continued throughout Turkey. 15 persons who were among 51 persons detained in İstanbul were arrested on 6 October 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

9 persons who were among 10 persons detained during house raids in İzmir were arrested on 6 October 2015 on the allegations of “being member of Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H) and/or PKK”.

29 persons were detained during operations conducted against HDP on 6 October 20”15 in Ankara.

The police conducted house raids on 6 October 2015 in Tunceli and detained 12 persons on the allegations of “being member of Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H)”.

Mutlu Tatar and Enes Kaya who were detained during house raids in İstanbul were arrested on 7 October 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” for distributing brochures of HDP.

The police conducted house raids in the morning of 7 October 2015 n Mersin and detained 7 persons including HDP MP candidate İkram Vuran.

12 persons were detained during operations in Karayazı distict of Erzurum and Eruh district of Siirt.

On 7 Ocotber 2015, a group of persons attacked Peoples Democratic Party (DHP) premises in Menemen district of İzmir and burned the HDP flags.

(10/038) Explosion in Diyarbakır…

Hasan Yılmaz (9) died and 3 children were wounded when the ammunition they found in a playing ground exploded on 8 October 2015 in Silvan district of Diyarbakır.

(10/039) Child Killed by the Police in Hakkari…

Adem Sevinç (17) was shot to death when the police opened fire during the operations conducted on the night of 9 October 2015 in Yeşildere quarter of Yüksekova district in Hakkari.

(10/040) House Raid in Diyarbakır…

The police conducted a house raid on 8 October 2015 in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. An unidentified woman was killed when the police threw bomb in the house on the allegations that the police was opened fire from the house. 6 persons were also detained during the raid.

A temporary village guard was wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 8 October 2015 in the rural area of Silvan district of Diyarbakır.

(10/042) Worker Deaths…

Worker’s Health and Job Safety Assembly announced on 5 October 2015 that at least 177 workers died in September 2015 during work accidents due to untaken security measures. At least 1317 workers died in first 9 months of 2015.

(10/043) Investigations, Detentions and Arrests on the Allegations of Insulting State President…

Bülent Keneş, editor-in-chief with the daily Today’s Zaman, was detained on 9 October 2015 when he went to Çağlayan (İstanbul) Court House to testify in connection with an investigation started against him on the allegations of “insulting State President”. Public Prosecutor demanded Bülent Keneş to be arrested, but the court released him with judicial control decision.

(10/044) Co-Mayor on Trial…

According to the news appeared in the press on 8 October 2015, Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 accepted the indictment against Diyarbakır Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak on charges of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The indictment wants Gültan Kışanak to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment up to 10 years for “being an active member of Democratic Free Women Movement (KJA/Kongra Jınên Azad/Özgür Kadın Kongresi)”.

Halil İbrahim Biçer who was among 3 persons detained during the police intervention against the peace march in Adana was arrested on 8 October 2915 on the allegations of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.

(10/046) Operations throughout Turkey…

Kerem Yılmaz, Necat Yüzkan and Kerem Ezer who were among 10 persons detained during house raids in Silvan district of Diyarbakır were arrested on 8 October 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Bület Uğul, Democratic Regions Party Co-Chair for Tutak district in Ağrı province, was detained during a house raid on 8 October 2015.

The police conducted house raids in Tekman district of Erzurum and detained 11 persons. The reason of the operations was not disclosed.

The police conducted house raids in Gazi quarter of Sultangazi district in İstanbul and detained 6 child members of Lyceum Students Union (LÖB).

On 8 October 2015, the police raided the Peoples’ Democratic Party premises in Elazığ and detained HDP MP candidate İbrahim Bingöl, Ramazan Ceylan, Rıdvan Bingöl, Sinem Mengüç.

The police conducted operations on 9 October 2015 in Iğdır and detained Iğdır Co-Mayor Şaziye Önder, Tuzluca Co-Mayor Mehmet Gültekin, Hoşhaber Co-Mayor Ali Çam, Iğdır Provincial Assembly Co-Chair A. Kadir Özsular, Zübeyde Kaynar, Iğdır Municipality Assembly members Sadık Aras and Saniye Çark, Provincial Assembly members M. Sıddık Kırang and Hüseyin Yiğit.
