(11/047) Child Hit by Car Driven by a Soldier…

It is learned from news coverage of November6, 2017 that a soldier whose name and rank remain unidentified hit a child named Burhan İlhan (5) with his car while teaching a friend how to drive. It is learned that Burhan İlhan lost his life due to the crash.

(11/048) Children Injured Due to Explosion in Nusaybin…

It is learned that 3 children named N.Y., Y.Y. and Ö.Y. were injured while they were playing in a dumpster area when an object they found exploded. It is reported that Y.Y. and Ö.Y. were discharged from the hospital and N.Y underwent surgery.

(11/049) Former Village Guard Dead After Assault in Adana…

It is learned that a former ranger named Şerif Kaya died on November 5, 2017 due to an armed assault by two unidentified people in Adana.

(11/050) People Injured by Armed Vehicle in Batman…

It is learned that 5 people including 3 soldiers were injured on November 5, 2017 in Batman – Diyarbakır road when an armored vehicle of security forces crashed with a civilian car.

(11/051) Extrajudicial Execution Claim in Diyarbakır…

Relatives of Murat Çelik who died on November 3, 2017 during a clash in a house raid in Diyarbakır’s Karapınar district spoke to press on November 4, 2017. Relatives revealed that police officers entered the house without a warning through a hole they opened from the side house, despite children and Çelik’s spouse being present in the house. It is learned that Murat Çelik’s wife Asya Çelik and his 3 children were also injured because of cement, glass and shrapnel pieces hitting their bodies.

It is alleged in the news coverage that Asya Çelik was dragged on the floor grabbed from her hair from 7th floor to entrance of the building. It is said that Çelik then fainted and was sent to the hospital.

It is learned that Murat Çelik’s mother Hatun Çelik, who was allegedly physically and verbally abused by police officers during detention, was released after she gave her testimony on Novermber 4, 2017.

It is reported that Public Prosecution Office made the case confidential on November 4, 2017.

The news coverage of November 6, 2017 reported that although Murat Çelik’s body was identified his funeral was not given to the family and the family appealed to Public Prosecution. Office

9 police officers were injured and one police officer died along with Murat Çelik during the incident on November 3, 2017.

(11/052) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned on November 4, 2017 that 6 militants died during clashes between armed forces and HPG militants on September 20, 2017 in Mardin’s rural areas of Mazıdağlı.

It is learned from news coverage of November 5, 2017 that one militant died during clashes between armed forces and HPG militants on September 20, 2017 in rural areas of Diyarbakır’s Lice district.

(11/053) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of November 5, 2017 that water has been cut off for 4 days in Manisa Type T Prison cells.

It is learned from news coverage of November 6, 2017 that 12 prisoners including an ill prisoner named Cengiz Aslan were transferred from Karaman Type M Prison to Kayseri Bünyan Type T prison against their wills. It is reported that 12 prisoners were physically abused when they refused to be strip searched.

It is learned from news coverage of November 6, 2017 that prisoners in Sincan Female Prison are not allowed to greet each other in corridors and the ones who refuse this ban are given disciplinary punishment. It is learned that ESP Chair Çiçek Otlu and a prisoner named Sermin Demirağ were given solitary cell punishments due to this.

(11/054) Police Intervention Towards ‘‘I Want My Job Back’’ demonstrations in Ankara…

Civil servants discharged from their jobs with Statuary Decree’s planned for press meetings in front of the Human Rights Monument in Ankara Yüksel Street on November 3,4 and 5, 2017. Demonstrations of the group has been going on for several weeks. Two meetings planned at 13.00 and 18.00 respectively were both intervened and prevented by the police forces.

On November 3, 2017, 5 people (İlker Işık, Mehmet Dersulu, Sultan Aydoğdu, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Simge Aksan) during the intervention towards the meeting at 13.30 on and 7 people during the 18.00 meeting were detained.

On November 4, 2017, 4 people (Alev Şahin, Mehmet Dersulu, Simge Aksan and İlker Işık) during the intervention towards the meeting at 13.30 on and 6 people including Veli Saçılık during the 18.00 meeting were detained.

On November 5, 2017, 3 people (Nazan Bokurt, Sultan Aydoğdu ve ilker Işık) during the intervention towards the meeting at 13.30 on and 5 people including Veli Saçılık during the 18.00 meeting were detained.

On October 30, 2017, 4 people during the intervention towards the meeting at 13.30 on and 5 people during the 18.00 meeting were detained.

In total, 30 people were detained on November 3,4,5 2017 at Yüksel street demonstrations. It is learned that police officers also prevented press members from reporting the incident. It is reported that detainees were released within the same day.

(11/055) Detention and Arrests…

It is reported that 5 people detained on October 31, 2017 in Hakkari’s Çukurca district based on an investigation towards PKK, were arrested by court on November 3, 2017 due to ‘membership of an illegal organization’.

It is learned that HDP Ankara District executive Ayfer Balıkçı and former Secretary General of BES Davud Balıkçı detained on November 3, 2017 due to ‘membership of an illegal organization’ were released within the same day. Ayfer Balıkçı was released after her testimony at the police station, Davut Balıkçı was released by court with judiciary control condition.

It is learned that 7 of 11 people detained on November 3, 2017 in Çığlı and Ormanlı villages of Hakkari’s Çukurca district due to ‘aid and abetting an illegal organization’ were released on November 4, 2017. It is reported that 4 people including HDP executive Didar Kara remain in detention.

It is learned that 40 people were detained during house raids in Hakkari on November 4, 2017.

It is learned that DBP district executive Zozan Akboğa, his mother Şükran Akboğa and Welat Akboğa were detained on November 5, 2017 in Diyarbakır during a house raid due to a denunciation. It is reported that Şükran Aydoğan was released within the same day whereas Zozan Akboğa and Welat Akboğa remained in detention.

(10/056) People Detained in TÜYAP Book Fair For Distributing a Newspaper…

It is learned that on November 4, 2017 people distributing Meydan Newspaper published by an anarchist group were intervened by private security and civil police officers in TÜYAP book fair and 6 people were detained with rear handcuffing.

(11/057) Trial of HDP MP…

The final trial of HDP Adana MP Meral Danış Beştaş took place on November 3, 2017. A case was opened against Beştaş based on a social media post on February 2, 2016 and a speech she gave at a press briefing on February 9, 2016. The court sentenced Beştaş to 2 years 3 months due to ‘deliberately insulting Turkish Republic and Government’.

(11/058) Trials of DBP Co-Chair and Diyarbakır Municipality Co-Mayor…

The trial of DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel and Diyarbakır Municpality Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak for the case opened by Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 8 continued on November 3, 2017. The case was transferred to Malatya Heavy Pena Court N0 1 due to security reasons. The indictment asked for 240 years of jail sentence of Kışanak due to ‘forming and leading an illegal organization’, ‘attending demonstrations and meetings against the law’, and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’ for 41 times. 145 years of jail sentence is wanted for Tuncel for ‘membership of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’.

Tuncel and Kışanak attended the trial through SEGBİS and made their defenses. Following their defenses the court ruled for the continuity of their arrests and adjourned the trial to January 8, 2018.

(11/059) Trial of ESP District Executive for ‘Making Propaganda of an İllegal Organization’…

The final trial of ESP Fındıklı District Executive Tugay Köse took place on November 4, 2017. The court sentenced Köse to 1 year 3 months for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’.

(11/060) Detentions and Arrests in Connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

It is learned that 13 people in Eskişehir were detained. Through a Muğla based investigation, 4 of 7 people including 5 soldiers with warrant of detentions were detained during operations in 5 cities. 13 people in Zonguldak, 5 regular soldiers in Tokat, through a İzmir based investigation 18 people during operations in 14 cities were detained.

It is learned that 15 of 32 former Ministry of Foreign Affairs personnel discharged with Statuary Decrees, were arrested by court on November 3, 2017. 17 people were released 15 of whom with judiciary control conditions.

It is learned that 24 of 61 people detained trough a Balıkesir based investigation were arrested by court on November 3, 2017. 37 people were released with judiciary control conditions.

It is learned that a person named B.K. in İstanbul was detained on November 4, 2017. 10 people in İstanbul, 16 people through an Ağrı based investigation were detained during operations in 8 cities. 9 people trying to cross the Greek border illegally were detained in Muğla’s Marmaris district.

(11/061) Trials in Connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

The final trial of a former police officer named Mustafa Koca took place on November 3, 2017. Koca was discharged from his post with a Decree with the Force of Law. The case was opened by Kırıkkale Heavy Penal Court No 1. The court sentenced Mustafa Koca to 7 years 1 months due to ‘violating the law on the financing of terrorism’.

The final trial of 33 defendants including President of Samanyolu Publishing Group Hidayet Karaca and former Chief Police Comissioner Ali Fuat Yılmazer took place on November 3, 2017. The case was opened by İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No 14 and 23 of the defendants have been arrested. The court sentenced Hidayet Karaca to 31 years due to ‘leading an illegal organization’, ‘slander’ and ‘corruption of official documents’. Ali Fuat Yılmazer was sentenced to 16 years 6 months due to ‘membership of an illegal organization’ and ‘slander’. Yurt Atayün was sentenced to 25 years due to ‘membership of an illegal organization’, ‘corruption of official documents’ and ‘slander’. 24 defendants were sentenced to 12 years for ‘membership of an illegal organization’ and 12 defendants to 9 years for ‘corruption of official documents’. The court also ruled for cases of Fettullah Gülen and former Police Comissioner Mutlu Ekizoğlu’s to be separated and decided for the arrest of one defendant.

(11/062) Events Banned in City…

Governorate of Hakkari declared on November 3, 2017 that sit in’s, opening stands and setting up tents would be forbidden between November 3, 2017-December 2, 2017. Governorate also declared that all demonstrations, marches, press briefings, closed and open meetings would be subjected to special permission between the same dates.
