(11/190) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2019 that 2 HPG militants died in an air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to Heftanin area in Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on October 26, 2019 and 2 HPG militants died in another air operation to Zap area on October 27, 2019.

(11/191) Hunger Strike in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2019 that, prisoners in Osmaniye T Type Closed Prison No 2 are on hunger strike since November 12, 2019, to protest ill-treatment and right violations. It is reported that prisoners were subjected to stand up and were subjected to physical violence during roll-calls, newspapers and other periodicals are not given to them, they are subjected to arbitrary disciplinary proceedings and penalties, visit rights of prisoners are limited and they are forced to be in handcuffs during medical examinations at hospitals.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2019 that, Esin Kavruk, who was detained and then arrested on October 11, 2019, for her social media posts about Turkish Armed Forces operation to north and east Syria, and was put in Bakırköy Women’s Prison, was attempted to be detained once again, from prison this time, by Anti-Terror Department police upon instruction of the prosecutor’s office. Esin Kavruk was forcefully taken to Forensic Medicine Institution for DNA sample, and her lawyer Gülizar Tuncer states the following: “After that, prison director and chief warden calls Esin and verbally informs her about this news detention warrant. She was said that in case she does not accept, she would forcefully be taken by Anti-Terror Department police.

(11/193) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1105 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 18, 2019 at 13.30, and at 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on November 18, 2019, 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Nazan Bozkurt) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on November 20, 2019. It is learned detained people were released on the same days they were detained.

(11/194) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the protestors in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on November 18, 2019, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Mahmut Konuk and Cemal Yıldırım). It is learned that 2 people were released the same day.

The police intervened the sit-in protest at Bakırköy Square on November 18, 2019 of Nursel Tanrıverdi who rally to regain her job from which she had been dismissed by state of emergency decree, and detained her by using physical violence.

3 people who were detained by the police intervening the press declaration of Revolutionary High-School Students, about suspicious death of Rabia Naz Vatan (11), held at Taksim Square in Istanbul on November 17, 2019, are released on November 18, 2019. The names of detained people are: Şirin Yıldız, Harun Savğat and Doğukan Uçan.

(11/197) Police Prevention to a Protest in Izmir…

The march organized by Izmir Bar Association for International Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 18, 2019 in front of Türkan Saylan Cultural Center in Alsancak, Izmir is prevented by the police. It is learned that the group had a press declaration at the same spot.

(11/198) Hande Buse Şeker Case…

The trial of the case against police officer V.H. on the grounds of sexually assaulting and killing trans woman Hande Buse Şeker in Izmir on January 9, 2019, is held on Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 4 on November 18, 2019. The indictment demands sentence for the police officer on the charges of ‘injury by probable intent’, ‘wilful murder’, ‘qualified robbery with the use of weapon in property’, ‘insulting the memory of a person’, ‘qualified sexual assault’. The court decided to forcefully bring the witnesses to the next trial which is adjourned to January 13, 2020.

The trial of the case against Gülser Yıldırım, former Mardin MP of People’s Democratic Party (HDP), on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ for a protest she attended, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 13 on November 18, 2019. Gülser Yıldırım joined the trial via sound and vision system. The court adjourned the trial to February 3, 2020.

(11/200) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against İlyas Altan former member of Supreme Court is held at Penal Department No 9 of Supreme Court on November 18, 2019. The court sentenced the defendant to 7 years and 6 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

(11/201) Ban of a Leaflet in Şırnak…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2019 that “Uprising Against Male and State Violence” leaflets of HDP Women’s Assembly, related to November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, is banned by Şırnak Governorate.

(11/202) Ban of an Event in Istanbul…

It is learned that the event for Atılım newspaper’s 25th year which was to be held in Bostancı Cultural Center in Istanbul on November 22, 2019 is banned by Ankara Governorate on November 18, 2019.

(11/203) Proceedings Against Parliamentary Members…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 18, 2019 that, 25 proceedings against 12 parliamentary members including HDP co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli, are submitted to the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Grand National Assembly.

HDP MP’s subjected to proceedings are: Pervin Buldan (2 proceeding), Sezai Temelli (1 proceeding), Ayşe Acar Başaran (1 proceeding), Berdan Öztürk (1 proceeding), Murat Sarısaç (1 proceeding), Salihe Aydeniz (1 proceeding), Semra Güzel (1 proceeding), Mahmut Toğrul (1 proceeding), Musa Farisoğulları (1 proceeding), Nuran İmir (1 proceeding), Sait Dede (13 proceedingS).

CHP MP subjected to proceedings: Yüksel Özkan (1 proceeding).
