Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Hatice Büşra Kuyun is abducted by persons claim to be intelligence officers with a white vehicle registered with 65 AAT 923 license number in Van on May 4, 2020. It is learned that Hatice Büşra Kuyun was deforced for about 2 hours and was asked about her political activities, and was threatened by saying “As soon as ban on intercity travel ends after holidays you will leave Van, if you do not leave we will get you arrested and put in prison which is not a difficult thing for us. We would get your photographs at security points, then we would detain you, put a gun in your bag, get your fingerprints on it, and then we say that you were about to have an illegal act and arrest you”.
Hatice Büşra Kuyun stated the following: “I was abducted by 3 people. They claim themselves as police officers at first, and showed their identities. And then they said that they were not police officers and the identity cards they showed were fake. They told me that they would have used gendarmerie identity cards if we were within boundaries of gendarmerie region (…) They got me in a white car registered with 65 AAT 923 license plate. I said ‘Are you detaining me? If not, what you are doing is illegal’. I asked for a document of detention. They said ‘No detention, but it depends on conditions’. I kept silent, I did not talk with them. They took me to Hakkari-Başkale roadway, but not to security directorate. We left city center and took one-and-a-half-hour drive away. They attempted to get my phone. But I turned my phone off. They tried to illegalize political party activities and said that they will not allow us to have political activities here”.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 5, 2020 that, social and cultural rights of prisoners in Kırıkkale F Type Prison are limited, petitions of prisoners are not put in process and radios of prisoners are seized.
It is learned from the news coverage of May 5, 2020 that, HDP Urfa MP Ayşe Sürücü and lawyer Mehmet Alagöz from Human Rights Association (IHD) who wants to meet administration of Maraş Türkoğlu Prison, about right violations in prison, was rejected.

The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1274 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on May 5, 2020 at 13.30 and at 18.00, and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

On May 5, 2020, the police intervened the press declaration of Alev Şahin in order to regain her job from which she was dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Düzce Governorate and detained her. Alev Şahin was released on the same day, after being fined for violating Law of Misdemeanour and Public Health Law.

Leyla Onuk, city council member from HDP in Kozluk district of Batman, is detained in a house raid on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. It is learned that Leyla Onuk was subjected to physical violence of the police during detention. Leyla Onuk is released after statement procedures on the same day.

The trial of the case against Remziye Yaşar, HDP co-mayor of Yüksekova district of Hakkari, is held at Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 1 on May 5, 2020.
Remziye Yaşar joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. After defence hearings the court decided to continue detention of Remziye Yaşar and adjourned the trial to July 16, 2020.
Remziye Yaşar was detained on October 15, 2019 and was arrested on October 17, 2019. Ministry of Interior appointed a trustee to Yüksekova on October 19, 2019. At the first trial of the case on February 4, 2020, the court has decided to release however, after accepting prosecutor’s appeal, the court did not release Remziye Yaşar.

On May 5, 2020, Communications Director Republic of Turkey Fahrettin Altun, filed a criminal complaint against writer Ragıp Zarakolu, for his article “No Escape of Ill-Fate”, published on Artı Gerçek news portal. It is learned that Fahrettin Altun filed a criminal complaint against Artı Media company too.

It is learned from the news coverage of May 5, 2020 that the press declaration of Dikili Labour and Democracy Platform, for anniversary of executions of Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan and Hüseyin İnan, to be held in Dikili district of Izmir was banned by Dikili Sub-governorate on the grounds of precautions for Covid-19 pandemic.

Ministry of Interior declared on May 5, 2020 that 7,127 social media accounts have been investigated for social media posts about Covid-19 pandemic, 496 people related to these accounts are detained and 10 people are arrested.

Ministry of Health declared that 59 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,832 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on May 5, 2020.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 3,520 and total number of confirmed cases is 129,491 as of May 5, 2020.
HDP Kocaeli MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu announced on social media that 3 prisoners in Buca Prison tested positive for Covid-19 which makes the total number of prisoners tested positive in this prison to 16.
