(02/038) Protest Intervened in Istanbul…

Police intervened to persons who were distributing “No” leaflets about the upcoming constitutional referendum on 4 February 2017 in Istanbul Kadiköy. As a consequence of the intervention, 3 persons were forcibly detained. Due to protest from the persons there, police drew his weapon and beat a woman who had protested their intervention. The names of the detainees: Elif Baydur, member of EMEP, Gözde Tenikeci, member of Central Executive Committee of Revolutionary Party and another person whose name was not learned.

(02/039) Journalists Detained in Van…

11 distributors of the dailies Ozgurlukcu Demokrasi and Rojeva Medya were detained on 3 February 2017. The names of the detainees: Ferit Aktepe, Osman İnal, Delil Babat, Ramazan Çınar, Engin Direk, Resul Genç, Adnan Külter, Aykut Kılıç, Hamdullah Kumli, Emrullah Kapar, soyadı öğrenilemeyen Göknur.

(02/40) Co-Mayor Arrested…

4 person, including the Co-Mayor of Kocaköy Affüllah Kar had been detained on 28 January 2017. Of this four person, 2 were released with the judicial control decision and two were arrested. The name of the persons who were arrested: Co-Mayor of Kocaköy Affüllah Kar ve Zeki Kılıç.

14 persons, including the Co-Mayors of Dogubeyazit district of Agri Murat Rohat Ozbay and Delal Tekdemir, were detained on 23 January 2017. Of these 14 persons, 12 were arrested for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation’ and ‘helping and harboring an illegal organisation. The name of the persons who were arrested: the Co-Mayors of Dogubeyazit Murat Rohat Ozbay and Delal Tekdemir, Vice Co-Mayor Berrin Öztürk, Vice Co-Mayor Bülent Erişik, members of Municipality Assembly Gönül Öztürk, Mecbure Şahin, Mustafa Andiç ve M. Ali Dönder, Mustafa Ergül, Z. Abidin Kızılay, Halime Keskin and Bora Çoktin.

(02/41) Detentions and Arrests…

8 persons of the 10 who had been detained on 18 January 2017 in an operation against DHKP-C was arrested for ‘being a member of an illegal organisation.’ According to the news appeared in the press, the detainees, among whom there were members of Pir Sultan Abdal Culture Association, Mersin Rights Association, were tortured during their detention period. Names of the persons arrested: Dilan Ekin, Gülbeyaz Karaer, Seval Arıcı, Ercan Fırat, Erkan Koyuncu, Merih Cengiz, Uğur Kan ve Yusuf Şah.

Adalet Fidan, a member of Şırnak Provincial General Assembly, was detained during a house raid on 5 February 2017.

According to the news appeared in the press on 4 February 2017, 3 members of Halkevleri was detained by police forces while they were putting “No” banners on the walls. They were fined according to the Code on Misdemeanors.

22 persons were detained in Adana on 3 February 2017 for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation” on the basis of their social media shares.

Member of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly Soner Öz and former DBP executive Emir Ali Genç were detained by the police forces in Tunceli on 4 February 2017.

Erbil E., who was detained together with 2 persons on 2 February 2017, was arrested for being “a member of an illegal organisation’ on 4 February 2017.

Member of DBP Party Assembly Yunus Durdu was detained on 5 February 2017 in Batman and was transferred to Tunceli in relation to an investigation going on in Tunceli.

(02/042) Protest Intervened in Ankara and Malatya…

Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESK) organized two protests against the Decrees with Force of Law and expels on 4 February 2017, one held in Ankara and the other in Malatya. These two protests were intervened by the police forces. In Ankara 3 persons, Mahmut Konuk (a member of Trade Union of Health Employees (SES)), Gülhan Şimşek (executive of the 4th Brach of Eğitim-Sen) and another person were forcibly detained.  In Malatya, 30 persons were detained while making a public statement in solidarity with Özkan Karataş, Erdoğan Canpolat, Cengiz Uğurlu and Umut Sertaç Ökdemir. They are members of SES and Eğitim-Sen and they are expelled via Decrees with Force of Law.

(02/043) Protest Intervened in Istanbul…

Banu Torun and Eren Erdem was forcibly detained by the police forces on 5 February 2017 in Kadikoy İstanbul while protesting the arrest of members of Grup Yorum and demanding their release. Torun and Erdem were released in the same day. Members of Grup Yorum was arrested on 24 November 2016.

(02/44) Investigation Against Lawyers…

Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Office opened an investigation against lawyers within the context of Article 301 of Turkish Penal Code for making a demonstration at Beyoglu Istanbul protesting the curfew and civilian deaths in Cizre. According to the news appeared in the press, an investigation was opened against 18 lawyers and 17 lawyers gave testimony to Abdullah Yurtsever, the prosecutor who is in charge of the case, on 1 February 2017 at Çağlayan Court House.

(02/45) The Case of HDP Co-Chair Figen Yuksekdag…

Mersin Penal Court of First Instance No 7 continued on 3 February 2017 the case against HDP Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ. Yüksekdağ participated the hearing via Information System for Sound and Vision (SEGBİS) from Kandıra F Type Prison. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘insulting the Head of State. After the defense, court adjourned the hearing to 10 March 2017.

(02/46) Trustee Appointed to Municipality…

On 4 February 2017, Ministry of Interior appointed Turgay Gülenç, sub-governor of Bismil as a trustee to Bismil District Municipality in Diyarbakir province.  The total number of trustees appointed to municipalities governed mayors from Democratic Regions Party (DBP) reached the number of 68.
