(04/164) People Shot by the Police in Adana for ‘Disobeying Stop Warning’…

It is learned that Davut A. and Mehmet İ. were injured as a result of gunfire of the police to a car for disobeying stop warning in Seyhan district of Adana on April 13, 2018. It is reported that Hakan K. who was also in the car was detained while he was trying to escape.

(04/165) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from news coverage of April 12, 2018 that 5 militants died in clashes between security forces and HPG militants in Cudi mountain between April 2 and 10, 2018.

It is learned that 2 soldiers died and 3 soldiers are injured in clashes between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Ağrı’s Doğubeyazıt district on April 14, 2018.

It is learned from news coverage of April 15, 2018 that 2 militants died in a clash in Siirt on March 24, 2018.

It is learned from news coverage of April 13, 2018 that Remziye Karadağ who was transferred from Urfa T Type Prison to Elazığ Prison was subjected to the physical violence of wardens in Elazığ Prison because she did not accept undressed search.

It is learned from news coverage of April 14, 2018 that the prisoners in Tarsus Women’s Prison who did not accept to line up in military order during roll-calls were subjected to the physical violence of wardens.

(04/167) Rejection to Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan…

It is learned that the appeal made on April 13, 2018 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s sister and brother along with the families of Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysel Aktaş in order to visit, was rejected the same day on the grounds of limitations for prisoners in accordance with the Law on the Execution of Criminal and Security Measures Number 5275. With the last rejection, it was the 71st time that appeals of the family for visiting Öcalan have been rejected so far.

(04/168) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on April 13, 14, and 15, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on April 13, 2018, 3 people (Alev Şahin, Mehmet Dersulu, and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 3 people (Alev Şahin, Nazan Bozkurt and Mahmut Konuk) were detained.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on April 14, 2018, 2 people (Alev Şahin, and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 4 people (Alev Şahin, Gülnaz Bozkurt, Nazan Bozkurt and Ertuğrul Çağan) were detained.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on April 15, 2018, 4 people (Mehmet Dersulu, Nazan Bozkurt, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Bülent Özgül) and at 18.00 4 people (Nazan Bozkurt, Gülnaz Bozkurt, Mehmet Dersulu and Deniz Yılmaz) were detained.

Thus in total 20 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on April 13, 14, and 15, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(04/169) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of Confederation of Public Employees Trade Union (KESK) in front of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security headquarters on April 13, 2018, on the grounds that Ankara Governorate has banned the press declaration. The police used plastic bullets and pepper gas against public employees in front of the building and removed the people including CHP PM’s away. It is learned that nobody was detained.

(04/170) Interventions and Preventions Against May 1 Preparations…

The police intervened against Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), Socialist Women’s Council (SKM) and Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation (SGDF) members who were distributing leaflets on May 1, on April 13, 2018 and detained 22 people by using physical violence. It is reported that Ömer Akın, Etkin News Agency reporter is also detained.

(04/171) Detained Bogazici University Students…

3 of 4 Bogaziçi University students who were detained on April 12, 2018 are arrested by the court for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ on April 13, 2018. Thus total number of arrested students after the President’s declaration about them raised up to 12.

(04/172) Journalist and People Detained in Diyarbakır…

5 people including Silvan Mücadele newspaper publisher Ferhat Parlak who were detained in Silvan district of Diyarbakır on April 11, 2018 are referred to the court on April 14, 2018. Journalist Ferhat Parlak and Ercan Aşıcı are arrested for ‘being an illegal organisation member’, Ramazan Gemsiz, Eyip Bakıcı and Mithat Altaç are released on juridical control conditions.

Etkin News Agency editor Semiha Şahin and reporters Pınar Gayıp and Adil Demirci are detained in a house raid in Istanbul on April 13, 2018.

(04/174) Detained HDP Members and Executives…

It is learned that HDP council member Nadiye Gürbüz’s house in Istanbul was raided on April 13, 2018. Nadiye Gürbüz was not present at home thus is not detained.

HDP Yükskova district co-chair Hüsnü Beşer, who was detained in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on April 11, 2018 is released after official statement procedures at police headquarters on April 13, 2018.

(04/175) Detained Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation (SGDF) Members and Executives…

Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation member Ferhat Pehlivan is detained in Izmir through an Istanbul based investigation.

As a part of the same investigation SGDF member Aylin Yıldız’s house in Istanbul was raided on April 13, 2018, but she was not detained since not being present.

2 people (Faysal Ş. And Müslüm B.) of 9 people who were detained for their social media posts in Adana on March 30, 2018 are arrested for ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. 7 people are released on juridical control conditions.

(04/177) Trials of HDP PM’s…

The case against HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş on Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 19 for ‘establishing and managing an illegal organisation’, ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, and ‘praising crime and criminals’ continued to be held on April 11, 12, and 13, 2018. Selahattin Demirtaş attended the trial and made his defence. After defence hearings the court decided on continuation of detention and adjourned the trial to July 18, 19 and 20, 2018.

The final trial of the case against HDP former co-chair and Van PM Figen Yüksekdağ for ‘opposing pre-election restrictions’ as making a speech in an opening in Van on October 27, 2015, on Erciş Penal Court of First Instance No 2 is held on April 13, 2018. The court sentenced Figen Yüksekdağ to 6 months.

It is learned from news coverage of April 14, 2018 that İYİ party founder Ali Türkşen is sentenced by the court to 7000 Turkish liras fine for ‘insulting a public official’ for his article (“Are You Sad Yet Hulusi?”) on Hulusi Akar, the Chief of Defence.

(04/180) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On April 13, 2018, 18 people including 1 colonel and 8 lieutenant colonels in operations covering 10 cities through a Malatya based investigation, 20 people in Bayburt, 18 people in Istanbul through an investigation against Naval Forces, and 3 people in Tekirdağ are arrested.

On April 14, 2018, 6 people including former Aydın Police Chief Ahmet Turan Temel and dismissed police officers through an Aydın based investigation, 23 people in operations covering 16 cities through an Aydın based investigation, 11 people including 7 military personnel in Balıkesir are detained.

On April 15, 2018, 20 people in operations covering 4 cities through an Adana based investigation.

(04/181) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against 18 defendants on Sakarya Heavy Penal Court No 5 is held on April 13, 2018. The court sentenced 18 defendants to jail time differing from 2 years and 1 month to 7 years and 6 months.

The final trial of the case against 28 defendants including 11 arrestees on Kırklareli Heavy Penal Court No 1 is held on April 13, 2018. The court sentenced brigadier general of mechanized infantry brigade no 65, Cemalettin Doğan, and lieutenant colonel Latif Çiçek and lieutenant commander Servet Aslan to heavy life sentence for ‘violating the constitution’; 7 defendants to life sentence, 1 defendant to 12 years and 6 months and 1 defendant to 14 years and 2 months. The court decided to not to sentence 15 defendants as referral to “mistake judgment”, to acquit 1 defendant and to separate the case of 1 defendant.

The final trial of the case against 8 people on Çankırı Heavy Penal Court is held on April 13, 2018. The court sentenced 5 people to 7 years and 6 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and 3 people to 6 years and 3 months for the same reason.

(04/182) Curfew in Hizan…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on April 13, 2018 and announced curfew in 8 hamlets of Hizan district as of April 12, 2018, 22.00. The hamlets under curfew are: Karaağaç, Akbaş, Yedikardeş, Mollabirgi, Bağlarbaşı, Güvendik, Bereket, Düztepe.

(04/183) Events in Bitlis are Subjected to Permission…

Bitlis Governorate made a declaration on April 13, 2018 and announced that between April 14 and May 13, 2018 all events such as meetings, demonstrations, outdoor and indoor public meetings, hanging banners, distributing leaflets etc. are subject to permission and sit-in protests, hunger strike, opening tents and booths are banned.
