(06/109) Person Died Due to Being Hit by a Police Armoured Vehicle in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from news coverage of June 11, 2018 that Mehmet Tektekin (85) who got seriously injured due to being hit by an anti-riot water cannon vehicle in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on June 6, 2018, died in hospital on June 8, 2018.

(06/110) Villagers Detained and Forced to Attend Military Operation in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that 2 shepherds, Sıddık Karadağ and Mehmet Karadağ, who were detained in Yukarı Turalı village of Diyarbakır’s Hani district, and were forcefully brought to military operation and forced to walk before soldiers on June 7, 2018, are released by the court on June 11, 2018. Sıddık Karadağ and Mehmet Karadağ have been brought to the village after the operation, and have been detained for ‘blocking and inhibition of the execution of the operation’ and ‘provoking the villagers against the operation’.

It is learned that Sinan Türkoğlu, the special force police who have seriously wounded in an attack of HPG militants to the police station in Şemdinli district of Hakkari on June 4, 2018, died in hospital on June 11, 2018.

It is learned that 1 soldier seriously wounded in a clash between security forces and HPD militants in Bestler Dereler region of Şırnak on June 11, 2018.

(06/112) Rejection to Official Complaint on Torture in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of June 11, 2018 that the official complaint of the prisoners who were subjected to physical violence of wardens for speaking Kurdish, in İskenderun M Type Prison, is rejected by the prosecutor based on lack of evidence, although the prisoners have medical reports to evidence the physical violence.

It is learned from news coverage of June 11, 2018 that in Urfa Women’s Prison, 32 people are kept in wards for 10 people, the meals are insanitary, the water supply of the prisoners is cut off from time to time and is not clean.

(06/114) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 11, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on June 11, 2018, 2 people (Selvi Polat and Mehmet Dersulu) and at 18.00 3 people (Acun Karadağ, Selvi Polat and Eser Budak) were detained.

Thus in total 5 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on June 11, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

It is learned that the police blockaded the union office and prevented the march of KESK (Confederation of Public Employees Trade Union) members in Freedom Square in Bakırköy district of Istanbul, who protest the dismissals with the state of emergency decrees and want their jobs back, on June 11, 2018. It is reported that KESK members made a press declaration in front of the union office and the police intervened protestors who chant.

On June 11, 2018, shuttle drivers made a press declaration in front of Istanbul Public Shuttle Tradespeople Chamber headquarters in Ataşehir district. The police intervened the drivers who want to march towards Ankara after the declaration and used pepper gas. It is learned that nobody was detained, 1 driver got injured due to intervention.

(06/117) Detained and Arrested Journalist in Şırnak…

Berzan Güneş, reporter of Mezopotamya news agency is detained in Şırnak where he was for reporting news on June 11, 2018. It is learned that Berzan Güneş was detained for an Iğdır based investigation and is arrested by the court for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation’.

It is learned from press news that Berzan Güneş’s house in Iğdır was raided on April 4, 2018; Berzan Güneş was not present thus was not detained, however he gave his official statement to Cizre Police Directorate for the investigation, and was released by the prosecutor’s instruction.

It is learned that 4 members of HDP (Bayram Toprak, Vahap Ekin, Hıdır Kadem and Atilla [surname unknown]) are detained for social media posts, in Malatya on June 11, 2018.

It is learned that 6 people detained in Adana, for social media posts, are released by the court on juridical control conditions on June 11, 2018.

8 people who were detained in Artuklu and central districts of Mardin on June 7, 2018 are released by the court on June 11, 2018.

(06/121) Elections on June 24, 2018…

14 members of HDP who attend the iftar meal organized by HDP in Buca district of İzmir on June 11, 2018, are detained after the iftar for chanting.

HDP district co-chair of Buca, İzmir and Haydar Yılmaz, a HDP member are detained by the police in the campaign office in Çamlıkule neighbourhood on June 11, 2018. It is also learned that the police took the HDP’s campaign vehicle to the impound lot.

On June 11, 2018, HDP’s campaign office in Marmaris district of Muğla is attacked. It is learned that the attack caused material damage and 1 person is detained for the attack.

It is learned from news coverage of June 11, 2018 that İYİ Party members, including MP candidate, who visit Citli village of Çorum were prevented by imam. It is reported that imam told “I do not care about 657 [law on public employees]. We support The Chief [Reis, i.e. Tayyip Erdoğan]. Nobody else can come into this yard” and İYİ Party members left the village.

It is claimed in news coverage of June 11, 2018 that 10 citizens living in Gülveren village in Mardin’s Artuklu district were called into district Gendarmerie Command and was threatened as “You vote for HDP in every election. Don’t you dare to do the same this time”.

İsmet Demirdöğen and İlhan Taşçı, members of The Supreme Board of Radio and Television on behalf of CHP, prepared a report on apparency of political parties on TRT (Turkish Radio and Television) and some private channels. According to the report, from May 1, 2018 to June 3, 2018, HDP did not appear at all on public owned channel TRT. However, AKP was telecasted for 61 hours 16 minutes and 12 seconds, MHP was telecasted for 1 hour 2 minutes and 35 seconds, CHP was telecasted 9 hours 30 minutes and 58 seconds, İyi Party was telecasted 31 minutes and 3 seconds, SP was telecasted 10 minutes and 36 seconds and lastly Vatan Party was telecasted 10 minutes and 28 seconds. The report also states that, the apparency of political parties in 8 television channels (CNN Türk, Habertürk TV, NTV, TGRT Haber, Kanal 24, TV NET, ÜLKE TV and Akit TV) including 3 news channels is as following: 354 hours for AKP, 79 hours and 9 minutes for CHP, 8 hours and 34 minutes for MHP, 5 hours and 20 minutes for İYİ Party, 2 hours and 23 minutes for SP – Felicity Party, 1 hour and 30 minutes for BBP – Great Unity Party, 1 hour and 7 minutes for Free Case Party – HÜDAPAR, and 1 hour and 5 minutes for Homeland Party – Vatan; HDP was not telecasted at all. The report also states that TGRT Haber, Kanal 24, TV NET, ÜLKE TV and Akit TV did not telecast any of the opponent parties.
