(08/152) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

2 police officers were wounded on 26 August 2015 in Bingöl when an armoured vehicle was attacked during patrol.

Security Directorate in Nusaybin district of Mardin was attacked on 25 August 2015. A militant was captured wounded during the armed clash that broke out after the attack.

(08/153) Suspicious Private Death in Sivas…

Yavuz Sarı who was serving for compulsory military service in Sivas Infantry Training Brigade Command allegedly committed suicide with his rifle during target practice on 25 August 2015. He was registered to Ağrı province.

(08/154) Persons Beaten by the Police in Kocaeli…

Shop-owner Güler Sezgin (49) announced that a police officer D.B. beat him and his wife on the night of 24 August 2015 in Kartepe district of Kocaeli on the allegations of selling alcoholic drinks after the start of ban on selling sprits. Güler Sezgin also declared that the police officer messed up the shop.

(08/155) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 25 August 2015, Co-Mayor in Sur district of Diyarbakır province Fatma Şık Barut, Co-Mayor in Silvan district of Diyarbakır province Yüksel Bodakçı, and worker with the Women’s Academy Güneş Ölmez who were arrested on 23 August 2015 on the allegations of “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state” in connection with the declarations of self-governance and were reportedly transferred to Sincan (Ankara) Women’s Prison were reportedly forced for naked body search at the entrance of the prison.

(08/156) Operations throughout Turkey…

The police raided Edremit Municipality in Van on 25 August 2015. The operation was reportedly conducted in connection with the recent self-governance declarations. On 24 August 2015, Co-Mayors of Edremit district in Van province Sevil Rojbin Çetin and Abdülkerim Sayan, Edremit Municipality Press Adviser Salih Sertkal were detained for the same reason. Sevil Rojbin Çetin was arrested the same day.

17 persons including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executives for Tekman district in Erzurum province who were released after being detained were detained again on 25 August 2015 upon objection the Public Prosecutor. The detainees were arrested the same day on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Ahmet Kızmaz, former Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Co-Chair for Tarsus district in Mersin, against whom an arrest warrant was issued was detained on 25 August 2015. Ahmet Kızmaz was arrested the same day “on the allegations of being member of an illegal organisation”.

HDP Chair for Nusaybin district in Mardin province Sabiha Gündüz, MEYA-DER representative Salih Cebe and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executive for Nusaybin district Erhan Dinç who were detained on 24 August 2015 in connection with recent declarations of self-governance were arrested on 25 August 2015 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raid on 26 August 2015 in Eruh district of Siirt and detained Eruh Co-Mayor Hüseyin Kılıç. The reason of the operation was not disclosed. The police also conducted house raids in Kızıltepe district of Mardin and reportedly detained 6 persons.

(08/157) Operations and Extra-judicial Killings in Hakkari…

Governorate of Hakkari declared curfew on 26 August 2015 in Yüksekova district. After the curfew decision, the police and military troops started operations in the district.

The people in the district staged demonstrations against the operations when explosions and gunshots started right after the operations.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP for Hakkari province Abdullah Zeydan announced that a house was hit with a cannon shot and an imam was wounded in the house.

The clashes worsened during the night in the district and flow of information was interrupted. According to the news gathered, 4 persons died and 10 persons were wounded during the operations conducted the whole night.

(08/158) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

2 police officers were wounded when an armoured vehicle was attacked with long barreled weapons and rocket launchers on 26 August 2015 in Van.

Gendarmerie Brigade Command nearby Çakırsöğüt village of Şırnak was organised an armed attack on 26 August 2015. 3 militants were reportedly died during the clash that broke out after the attack. 2 militants allegedly died during the clash in Uludere district.

A military troop providing security for the construction of a dam in Kiği district of Bingöl was attacked on 26 August 2015. 4 workers were wounded during the attack.

(08/159) Assassination in Hatay…

On 26 August 2015, a bomb attack was organised against Cemil Radon, one of the Syrian opposition commanders living in Hatay. The car of Cemil Radon was exploded and he was heavily wounded. Cemil Radon died in the hospital.

(08/160) Hunger Strikes in Prisons…

The prisoners incarcerated several prisons and convicted in PKK and KCK cases started hunger strike to protest in the recent military operations and arrests. Hunger strike reached its 11th day on 26 August 2015.

2 prisoners in Denizli D-type Prison were reportedly subjected to pressures for taking part in the hunger strike and they were not given papers and journals.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair for Malatya announced that hunger strikers in Malatya E-type Prison were beaten by the guards. According to the announcement, 3 ribs of the prisoner Gaffar Bayram were broken during the incident.

Hunger strikers Mehmet Adıyaman and Sinan Şimşek incarcerated in Burhaniye E-type Prison were taken into single cells and not given their b-12 vitamins.

(08/161) Investigations, Detentions and Arrests on the Allegations of Insulting State President…

Nail Toplu and Emir Melih Avşar who reacted against the recent clash environment during the funeral of Captain Ali Alkan in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak were arrested on 26 August 2015 according to the Article 299 TPC on the allegations of “insulting the State President” with the expressions they used during the funeral.

2 persons were detained on 26 August 2015 in Kars on the allegations of “insulting the State President” with the expressions they used on social media platforms like facebook and twitter.

Ü.K. was detained on 26 August 2015 in İstanbul on the allegations of “insulting the State President” with the comments s/he made about the photographs of the State President on social media platforms.

(08/162) Protest Intervened in Diyarbakır….

The police intervened the persons who took part in the “stop daily life” campaign on 26 August 2015 in Diyarbakır. All the shops took down the shutters except for the drugstores and bakeries . The police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the groups. The police broke the door of a house and reportedly detained Şaban Vural (19) and his father Cahit Vural under beatings.

(08/163) Operations throughout Turkey…

According to the news appeared in the press, Co-Mayor of Silvan district Yüksel Bodakçi and Co-Mayor of Sur district Seyid Narin who were detained on 23 August 2015 in connection with the recent declarations of self-governance were suspended from duty on 24 August 2015 by the Ministry of Interior Affairs.

The police conducted house raids on 26 August 2015 in Eleşkirt district of Ağrı and Erciş district of Van; 3 persons were detained during the operations. Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair for Eleşkirt district Engin Dursun was arrested the same day on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”. İshak Yılmaz and Erdal Bütün who were detained in Erciş were arrested on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Yafes Yıldırım, Co-Chair of People’s Democratic Assembly (Demokratik Halk Meclisi) in Hisan district of Bitlis, was detained on 26 August 2015.

Selahattin Salon and Nihat Ayık who were detained in Silopi district of Şırnak were arrested on 26 August 2105 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Hafize İpek, Chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) for Diyarbakır province, was detained on 27 August 2015. The reason of the detention was not disclosed.

(08/164) Detentions and Arrests…

Ferhat Parlak, owner and correspondent of the online local paper Silvan Mücadele Gazetesi, was detained on 26 August 2015 in Silvan district of Diyarbakır when he went to Silvan Court House to get information in connection with a court case launched against him. He was reportedly detained on the grounds that there was an arrest warrant issued against him.
