(12/148) Curfew in Cizre…

Curfew and blockade in Cizre district of Şırnak reached its 8th day as of 21 December 2015. The attacks of the Security Forces reached peak on weekend.

  1. (11-boy) was shot at foot and wounded when Security Forces opened fire on 18 December 2015 in Cudi quarter.

Municipality worker İrfan Uysal (29) was heavily wounded when Security Forces opened fire on 18 December 2015. His left arm was reportedly amputated in the hospital.

İbrahim Akan (15) died when a house was shot with cannon balls in Sur quarter. 2 boys were also wounded in the same house.

Selahattin Bozkurt (70) was killed when Security Forces opened fire on 19 December 2015 in Cudi quarter.

Yılmaz Erz (42), driver of a cargo vehicle of Postal Services, was shot to death on 19 December 2015 in Yasef quarter where operations were conducted.

Lütfü Aksoy (25) was heavily wounded during the tank attacks on 19 December 2015 in Cudi quarter.

Zeynep Yılmaz (40) was killed on 20 December 2015 when Security Forces organised an attack against the Cudi quarter.

Y.S. (1-boy) was shot at back and wounded during the attack.

7 months pregnant Güler Yanalak (32) was shot at her belly during the attacks of Security Forces in Nur quarter. She was taken into intensive care unit, but the baby reportedly died.

Hediye Çete (35) was shot at chest in her house in Cudi quarter. She was not allowed to be hospitalised.

H.T. (17-girl) was shot at arm and wounded in Cudi quarter. She was also not allowed to be hospitalised.

(12/149) Curfew in Dargeçit…

Curfew and blockade in Dargeçit district of Mardin reached its 11th day as of 21 December 2015.

Abdullah İş (65) was shot at head and wounded when Special Forces opened fire on 18 December 2015.

C.Ç. (15-boy) was shot at foot and wounded when Security Forces opened fire on 19 December 2015 in Sefa quarter.

(12/150) Curfew in Nusaybin…

Curfew was suspended for 7 hours in Nusaybin district of Mardin and curfew was declared on 18 December 2015 for 7thtime.

The curfew was started to be imposed in Abdulkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir quarters. But Governorate of Mardin declared curfew on 21 December 2015 in 11 quarters of the district.

Emire Gök (39) was killed on 20 December 2015 when Special Forces opened fire in Gırnavas quarter where curfew was not imposed.

(12/151) Curfew in Sur…

Curfew and blockade in Sur district of Diyarbakır reached its 11th day as of 21 December 2015. The attacks of the Security Forces continued, M. (13-boy) and 2 females were wounded when the Security Forces opened fire.

6 persons were also wounded during the attacks of the Security Forces on 20 December 2015.

(12/152) Curfew in Silopi…

Curfew and blockade in Silopi district of Şırnak reached its 8th day as of 21 December 2015.

Reşit Eren (17) and Axin Kanat (16) were killed on 18 December 2015 in Nuh quarter when their house was shot with a cannon ball.

The police opened fire against a group of persons in Cudi quarter when they went out on 18 December 2015 to protest in the curfew. 15 persons were wounded during the police attack.

4 persons were wounded on 18 December 2015 when Cudi and Başak quarters were opened fire with cannons.

İbrahim Bilgin (18) in Yeşiltepe quarter and an unidentified person in Karşıyaka quarter were wounded when Security Forces opened fire on 19 December 2015.

İbrahim Bilgin who shot at chest and hospitalised died in the hospital.

On 19 December 2015, Security Forces also killed Şiyar Özbek (25) in Nuh quarter and Süleyman Çoban (70) in Başak quarter.

Yusuf İnan (40), Halit İnan and Taybet İnan (57) were heavily wounded when the police opened fire on 19 December 2015 against a house in Nuh quarter. Since the ambulances were not allowed to enter the quarter, the health conditions reportedly worsened.

Taybet İnan and Yusuf İnan died for not being hospitalised.

Mahmut Erdoğan (50) was wounded when his house was shot with a grenade launcher in Barbaros quarter.

Egit Kaçar (22) who was reportedly mentally retarded was wounded when the police opened fire on 20 Dcember 2015 in Başak quarter.

Ayşe Buruntekin (40) was shot to death on 20 December 2015 when she went up to the roof of her house in Cudi quarter.

(12/153) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

1 soldier was killed and 4 soldiers were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 17 December 2015 in Cudi quarter of Cizre district in Şırnak.

A police officer was wounded when an armoured vehicle was attacked during patrol on 18 December 2015 in Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır.

3 soldiers and 1 temporary village guard were reportedly wounded during an armed clash on 19 December 2015 in Cizre district of Şırnak.

3 police officers were wounded when an rmoured vehicle was attacked with a rocket launcher on 19 December 2015 on Çağçağ Avenue in Nusaybin district of Mardin where curfew was implemented.

1 soldier was killed and 1 soldier was wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 19 December 2015 in Sur district of Diyarbakır.

1 soldier and 5 police officers were wounded with shrapnel pieces when an improvised explosive device exploded on 19 December 2015 in Sur district of Diyarbakır.

2 police officers and 1 soldier were allegedly killed during an armed clash on 20 December 2015 in Cizre district of Şırnak.

Governorate of Hakkari announced on 18 December 2015 that several regions in city centre, Yüksekova, Şemdinli and Çukurca districts of the province were decided to be temporary security zones for 15 days between 20 December 2015 and 3 January 2016. Entrance of civilians to the security zones was also banned.

Governorate of Bingöl announced on 18 December 2015 that 19 regions in city centre and Genç, Solhan, Yayladere, Adaklı, and Karlıova districts of the province were decided to be temporary security zones until 3 January 2016. Entrance of civilians to the security zones was also banned.

(12/154) Dilek Doğan Investigation…

On 20 December 2015, lawyers of Doğan Family revealed the footages of Dilek Doğan’s killing. According to the recordings, chief police officer Yüksel Moğultay killed Dilek Doğan after having a dispute for wearing overshoes to enter the house.

Dilek Doğan (25) who was shot during a house raid on 18 October 2015 in Sarıyer district of İstanbul conducted in connection with a “DHKP-C (Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party – Front) Investigation” died on 25 October 2015. She was heavily wounded when the police opened fire in the house. Dilek Doğan’s family declared that the police opened fire when they had a dispute for wearing overshoes to enter the house.

Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court accepted the indictment against Yüksel Moğultay for the killing Dilek Doğan and will start to hear the case on 17 February 2015. The indictment wants the police officer to be sentenced to a term of imprisonment up to 26 years and 6 months for “intentional killing by negligent conduct”.

(12/155) Journalist Arrested in Diyarbakır…

Jin News Agency (JINHA) correspondent Beritan Canözer who was detained while following a demonstration staged to protest in the curfew and blockade in Sur district of Diyarbakır was arrested on 19 December 2015 on the allegations of “aiding an illegal organisation”.

(12/156) Journalist on Trial on the Allegations of Insulting the State President…

Erciş (Van) Penal Court of First Instance No 3 started on 18 December 2015 to hear the case against Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent İdris Yılmaz launched on charges of “insulting the State President”.

İdris Yılmaz testified at the hearing through SEGBİS tele-conference system for not being taken to the court for security reasons. The court released the defendant to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 14 January 2015.

Since İdris Yılmaz is on trial in another case on charges of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”, and therefore he was not released.

(12/157) Curfew Protests Attacked…

The police attacked a group of persons who staged a demonstration on 20 December 2015 in Tarsun district of Mersin to protest in the curfews and operations in Sur, Dargeçit, Nusaybin, Cizre, and Silopi districts. The police used real bullets to disperse the crowd and 8 persons were wounded.

K.B. (8years old boy) who was heavily wounded during the attack was reportedly shot in front of his home.

The police also intervened the march on 19 December 2015 in Muş. Security Forces used excessive force to disperse the crowd and detained 8 persons including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Ahmet Yıldırım under beatings.

The march staged on 19 December 2015 in Batman was also prevented and at least 30 persons were detained.

8 persons in Beyoğlu district of İstanbul and 20 persons in Didim district of Aydın were reportedly detained during the police interventions.

(12/158) Commemoration Banned in Şanlıurfa…

Despite the ban decision of the Governorate, a group of persons wanted on 19 December 2015 to march to the Square where commemoration of Maraş Massacre was planned to be held. The police prevented the group and detained 33 persons. The commemoration of Maraş Massacre was banned by the Governorate. The governor’s office in Kahramanmaraş announced on 16 December 2014 that all kinds of press conferences, demonstrations and actions related to the Maraş Massacre had been banned between 18 and 26 December 2015 in order “not to damage the brotherhood in the province”. During the massacre between 19 and 26 December 1978 some 150 persons had been killed.

(12/159) Workers’ Action Intervened in Manisa…

11 mine workers who staged a protest in front of İmbat Mining Company on 20 December 2015 for being fired from a mine in Soma district of Manisa. 11 workers were detained by the gendarmerie.

(12/160) Demonstrations Intervened in İzmir and Van…

The police intervened a group of persons on 20 December 2015 in İzmir who were marching with the demand of Abdullah Öcalan’s release. 9 persons were detained during the police intervention and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executive Hacay Yılmaz had cerebral haemorrhage for being hit at head.

The police also prevented a demonstration in Van staged for the same reason and 3 persons were wounded for being hit with tear gas canisters.

(12/161) Protest Intervened in Ankara…

The police intervened the members of Socialist Youth Association (Sosyalist Gençlik Derneği) who closed the Ziya Gökalp Avenue in Kızılay quarter of Ankara to protest in the confidentiality decision in the case of Suruç Massacre. 3 members of Socialist Youth Association were detained under beatings.

(12/162) Operations throughout Turkey…

The police conducted house raids on 18 December 2015 in Mersin and Tarsus district. The number of detainees includingCo-Mayor for Akdeniz district Fazıl Türk reached 43 persons.

Enver Şipal, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executive for Çatak district in Van province, was detained when he called to Security Directorate on 17 December 2015 to testify in connection with an incident.

Mehmet Karadeniz who was among 3 persons detained during house raids in Bismil district of Diyarbakır was arrested on 18 December 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

3 persons including 2 children who were detained after a public stamen by DBP in Gaziantep were arrested on 18 December 2015 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

İsmail Acay (24) who was hospitalised for being shot in his house’s garden in Cizre district of Şırnak was arrested on 19 December 2015 on the allegations of “acting against the indivisible integrity of the state with its territory and nation”.

The police conducted house raids on 19 December 2015 in Edremit and İpekyolu districts of Van and detained 8 persons.

Cabbar Taş, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair for Derecik town in Şemdinli district of Şırnak province, was detained on 19 December 2015 in Derecik.

11 persons in Halfeli district of Iğdır and 9 persons in Nazilli district of Aydın were detained during house raids on 20 December 2015.
