(03/039) Curfew and Blockade in Doganli and Korukoy Villages…

Mardin Governorate made two separate announcements on 2 March 2017 and lifted the curfews in Korukoy and Doganlı villages by 10.00.

Salih Kaplan had been kiiled during the operations in Doganli village on 1 March 2017.  When his brother Mehmet Kaplan went to take his brother’s body, he was detained on 2 March 2017 in Kiziltepe for his social media shares.

(03/040) Abidin Aykut Arrested…

Abidin Aykut got ill in Mardin E Type Prison and was taken to Mardin State Hospital. Aykut, was detained during the curfew in Korukoy and because of the torture he had been subjected in custody, was taken to hospital during his detention period.

(03/041) Youth Federation Premise Raided…

Youth Federation Premise in Okmeydani, İstanbul was raided on 2 March 2017 by police forces of Counter Terror Department. Aysun Kactas and Caner Koc were detained during the raid.

(03/042) Curfew in 12 Villages of Lice and Hazro…

Diyarbakir Governorate declared on 2 March 2017 an open-ended curfew in 12 villages of Lice and Hazro which will start from 14.00. The names of the villages are as follows: Dibekköy, Çağdaş, Yolçatı, Tepe, Kabakaya, Ortaç, Yalaza, Bağlan, Çavundur, Dolunay ve Oyuklu villages of Lice and Citlibahce Village of Hazro.

(03/043) Detentions and Arrests…

24 persons, who were detained in connection with the bomb attack in Viransehir, were taken to court on 2 March 2017. 20 persons were released with judicial control condition. 3 persons were arrested for ‘being a member of illegal organization.’

30 persons were detained in Baggoze village of Eruh district of Siirt for ‘being member of village assembly.’ The detainees were taken to Baggoze Battalion headquarter. They were released after their statements had been taken. Names of the detainees are as follows:  Fadile Yıldırım, Ahmet Yıldırım, Recep Dündar, Abdullah Talu, Nihat Aksu, Talat Yıldırım, Salih Kaya, Nesim Geçer, Sabahat Turhan, Görü Şen, Serkan Geçer, Serhat Acar, Sezgin Şen, Sabahattin Sevgin, Osman Çetin, Selahattin Acar, Şeyhmus Oktay, Sait Oktay, Şükrü Oğuz, Hüseyin Oğuz, Serdar Dündar, Garip Şen, Hacı Erdoğan, Kenan Kaya.

(03/044) Detentions and Arrests in Connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

Arrests warrants were issued on 2 March 2017 for 71 military personnel and 6 relatives of military personnel for using ByLock. 40 persons were detained in an Izmir centered police operation.

Vice Goveror of Samsun Suat Demir was arrested on 2 March 20147. Demir was detained on 28 February 2017 for using ByLock.

(03/045) HDP MPs on Trial…

Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 2 March 20147 the case against HDP Co-Chair Figen Yuksekdag. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’ Yuksekdag participated the hearing via SEGBIS from Kandıra F Type Prison. After the defenses the court adjourned the hearing to 9 May 2017.

According to the news appeared in press, when Yuksekdag and the persons in the court room saluted each other, persons in the court room were taken out of the court room.

(03/046) Co-Mayors on Trial…

Dogubeyazıt Heavy Penal Court started on 2 March 2017 the case against Diyadin Co-Mayor Hazal Aras. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization.’ The court did not release Aras because Aras did not give statement via SEGBIS. The court released the other defendants Lutfi Demir, Fevzi Kahraman, Faruk Sarı Kaddafi Zorbay, Mehmet İlhami Zorbay to be tried without remand.  The court adjourned the hearing to 18 April 2017.

(03/047) Writter Murat Belge on Trial…

Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance No 2 continued on 2 March 2017 the case against writer Murat Belge. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘insulting the Head of State’ in an article he had written in daily Taraf. After the defenses the court acquitted Belge.

(03/048) Journalist Zehra Dogan on Trial…

Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 2 March 2017 the case against journalist Zehra Doğan. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ After the defenses, the court sentenced Dogan to 2 years, 9 months and 22 days imprisonment for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’

(03/049) Journalists on Trial…

Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 2 March 2017 the case against journalist Cemil Ugur and Halil Ibrahim Polat. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘being a member of illegal organization.’ One of the police officials who had detained them testified in the hearing. The court adjourned the hearing to 3 April 2017.

(03/050) Persons on Trial for ‘Making Propaganda of an Illegal Organization.’

Antalya Regional Administrative Court revoked the decision of the local court in the case against Tarfa Tarıc and Mahsun Cetinkaya. Antalya Regional Administrative Court acquitted the defendants. Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 4 had sentenced Tarıc and Cetinkaya 10 months imprisonment for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’ because of the slogans ‘Biji Serok Apo’ and ‘Youth is the Protector of the Apo’ In its detailed ruling, it was stated that there were nothing in these slogans which justifies, praises or promotes the methods of the organization which include force, violence and threat in these slogans.

(03/051) Newspaper Delivery Person Heci Arpac on Trial…

Mersin Heavy Penal Court No 7 started on 2 March 2017 the case against Heci Arpac, the delivery person of the daily Ozgurlukcu Demokrasi. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘acting on the behalf of an illegal organization without being a member.’ After the defenses, the court adjourned the hearing to 18 March 2017.

Heci Arpac was detained on 9 November 2016 while distributing the daily Ozgurlukcu Demokrasi.

(03/052) HDP and DBP Members on Trial in Hakkari…

Hakkari Heavy Penal Court continued on 2 March 2017 the case against 17 persons, including HDP co-chair for Hakkari Metin Besi. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘helping and harboring an illegal organization.’ The defendants who were being tried with remand participated the hearing via SEGBİS. After the defenses, the court released 15 defendants to be tried without remand. The court did not release 2 defendants and adjourned the hearing to 26 May 2017.

(03/053) Pinar Aydinlar on Trial…

Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 2 March 2017 the case against musicians Pinar Aydinlar and Murat Elmastas, and former HDP provincial executive Hacay Yilmaz. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ After the defenses, the court sentenced Aydinlar and Hacay to 2 years and 1 month imprisonment and acquitted Elmastas.

(03/054) Trials in Connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 14 continued between 28 February 2017 and 2 March 2017 the case about the attack to the Special Forces Headquarter during 15 July Coup d’Etat Attempt. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘abolishing the constitutional order.’ The court adjourned the hearing to 24 April 2017.

Eskisehir Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 2 March 2017 the case against Hüdavi Yorgun, Abdülkadir Korkmaz and Mustafa Arikan. The prosecutor presented his final opinion. He wanted Yorgun to be sentenced for ‘being a member of an illegal organization’, Korkmaz and Arikan to be sentenced for ‘helping and harboring an illegal organization.’ The court adjourned the hearing to 9 May 2017.

Antalya Heavy Penal Court No 8 started the case against court clerk Emrah K. and vice Bailiff Zafer C. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘founding and managing an illegal organization’ and ‘being member of an illegal organization.’ The defendants declared that they want to use effective remorse law. The court released the defendants to be tried without remand with a judicial control condition.’

(03/055) Banned 8 of March Activity.

Izmir Governorate turned down the application for the 8 of March activity on the basis of State of Emergency. The application was made for 5 March 2017.
